  • Talk about an easy oil change. According to the owner manual, you should run the bike for 300 miles with the break-in oil before performing an oil change. I went roughly 200 miles (over 5 hours). Follow along as I perform the easiest oil change ever! #learntoride #dirtbike #topofthemountain #diy #maintenance

    FYI I have a titan 250 and the manual says to use 10W-40. I found it at auto zone in the diesel/motorcycle section. Specifically it’s the valvoline motorcycle 4 stroke 10W-40 full synthetic. You mention “break in oil” but all my research said that the oil that the bike ships with is just to prevent corrosion and you should change the oil immediately, so I did. I’m curious to know if you used a designated break in oil or if you were referring to the shipping oil.

      My instruction manual clearly stated it had break in oil and to change it after 300 miles. I used ON X off-road tracks to get to the 300 miles. I have used Rotella 10W-40 and 15w-40 oil in the past on my KLR650 where it worked OK with the other mods I had on that but not great. I am going to stick to the 20W-50 on this based on my previous experiences.

      I just got a bike. I’m scared to start it with that shipping oil, let alone ride with it in there 😂. One of my first tasks will be changing it to gooood quality 4 stroke oil.

      Just bought that bike 2 days ago. It’s smartest and most safe to change oil immediately. But since you’re not supposed to ride fast or far for the break in period, riding the shipping oil won’t tremendously hurt it unless you’re dogging the bike. I haven’t changed mine yet do to weather but mind you I only circled my parking lot twice after assembly. Best advice just put the 4t synthetic 10w-40 before any serious riding

    Can I mix 10w 40 atv oil in the gas or will that mess things up?

    You need a wet clutch type oil for this bike

    • @dustinthegarage
      @dustinthegarage  Před 9 měsíci

      It’s 20/50 motorcycle oil. For wet clutch applications, don’t worry.

    Who told you to torqe an oil drain plug? It doesn't hole anything together. Like a head bolt .😅

    • @dustinthegarage
      @dustinthegarage  Před 7 měsíci +3

      All bolts have torque specs. Car oil drain plugs have torque specs between 20 and 50 lbft of torque. Why would you not torque them to the recommended settings?

      Will do for the next time around! I would put that in my 1989 KLR when I still had it. Great stuff!
