I'm confused in regard to affirmations. Up to now, I've been told to state that what I desire, I already have. Now I'm coming across information stating that the key to manifestation is to not want what you desire?
It’s good and helpful to be clear about what you want - but it’s NOT good to _need_ it, or be unhappy without it, or feel incomplete.
Detachment is important, but it doesn’t mean to not want, or to not clearly state your desire. Detachment is about completely accepting your desire is yours - really feeling it - and then relaxing and moving on with life, feeling complete as-is, and fully trusting that your desire is on its way to you.
It’s a subtle but important difference.
A way I find it helpful to think about it is: when you go to a restaurant, you look at the menu, decide what you want, and tell the waiter “I’d like the chicken sandwich please.” Then you just…sit back and talk with your friends. You don’t stress and fret about the chicken sandwich, you dont peek into the kitchen to make sure the cook is preparing it, you don’t flag down the waiter every 5 minutes to ask if it’s ready yet. You just trust that it’ll be out soon! Why wouldn’t it? That’s how restaurants work, after all.
And yet, it really is a kind of trust - but it’s a trust we don’t think about much because we’ve always known it to work like that: order, get food, no problem. That’s how I try to think about manifesting.
