      I’ll be doing this. Thanks for the video. What size socket fits on that screw?

    Thank you so much for this video. My handle was so corroded, and it was almost impossible to get off. PB Blaster did the trick.

    Thank you! This was extremely helpful. I was able to get the screw out without stripping the socket but it WAS tight. When I couldn't pull off the handle, I used your ball peen hammer suggestion and that did the trick! I also replaced the hand spray head because the membrane buttons wore through. All reassembled and working perfectly.

    Very helpful, especially the part about tapping the handle with a hammer to remove it if it's stuck on with lime, gunk, etc. That worked like a charm and saved me $100 to have a plumber come out.

    Grohe is a great company, they sent me a new head with hose, Handel and the cap in this video, no charge 10 years old, but we did buy the more exp tap, the straight one, maybe that’s why.?

    Thanks for the video. Given that the handle screw was stainless steel, it probably was not frozen, and using the recommended 3 mm Allen wrench might have avoided stripping it, obviating drilling it out.

    • @1947froggy

      Leaking mineral deposits are like rust so far as how they make a screw hard to extract.
      Thanks.

    I couldn't help but notice the electrical outlet ( probably for disposal(?)), and noticed that your outlet isn't a GFI. ...for future sake / resale, this won't pass code.

    A 9/32 socket removes the screw. The Allen wrench will strip it.

    Hi Froggy I have lady lux faucet which is leaking from underneath. Is it the cartridge from the side or something else underneath leaking ?

    • @1947froggy
      @1947froggy  Před 5 lety

      The cartridge is top side, but, of course you could have a bad connection under. Dry it as best you can, get a bright light & chase the leak, let me know.

      Try using a small mirror to look where you do not have a line of vision, feel with fingers.

  • @markhillmann633
    @markhillmann633 Před 3 lety

    Instead of using a 3mm hex or drilling it out, you can just use a socket wrench. If you notice at 2:12 there is just enough room with my Sears socket to get inside the recess in the handle.

    • @markhillmann633
      @markhillmann633 Před 3 lety

      7mm socket. Just fits inside the handle.

      @@markhillmann633 Couldn't get a socket wrench to work for ours, as the handle screw head was sunk into some sort of tighter plastic surround? Ended up getting it loose with an allen wrench and elbow grease. Still worth a shot for others to try a socket wrench though.

    I purchased a Grohe kitchen faucet back in 2004 that came with a limited lifetime warranty. Any time I called them, they would send me parts under that warranty. Now they are saying that after 10 years it is "normal wear and tear" and I have to pay for replacement parts. Breach of contract!!

    • @1947froggy
      @1947froggy  Před 7 lety +1

      Supposedly, the company was bought by Indonesian investors and they are wrecking the company. Two plumbing stores that I contacted no longer carry the Grohe line of faucets because of what is going on with the company.

      I had the same problem with them. They told me that anything over 10 years was normal wear and tear. I kept after them because the warranty was limited lifetime not 10 years. After several threatening calls they sent me replacement parts that fixed my problem ! Just keep calling and send a complaint on their website

For the price of this FAUCET THIS IS RIDICULOUS. mY PARENTS HOUSE HAD THE SAME FAUCET FOR OVER 100 YEARS. I want to just replace it with a delta or a moen but money money money

      Honestly, I'd replace it. Very bad product & worse company customer "service". Buy one at Costco & have a handyman install, use yelp or good neighbor recommendation for the man. Sorry you had to deal with this. Froggy
