You said that if a rider is 17yrs he can ride a de-restricted bike, i'm over 50 and have a full car licence from before 2000, so i can ride a 50cc forever with L plates.
If i had the variator washer removed would i have to declare it to my insurance?
My bike dealer said that if i had the washer removed then i would have to take a CBT, is this correct please?

so the law states as long as the rider of the bike is over 17 if they passed there car licence before jan 2001 they can ride a 50 vehicle without l plates you can take a pillion it does state that a 16-year-old has to be restricted to 28 mph but this isn't enforced most of the time but it doesn't state anywhere that anyone older than 16 has to have a speed limiter I'm glad it helps sorry for the bad audio

@@baldvale5418 if you are 16 then yes you are supposed to declare it (most don't) other than that then no you don't the insurance works on horsepower not speed and in this case the washer wouldn't make any difference to the HP and you would be surprised people want BBC quality lol

I really can't work out why my bike dealer has told me that if the washer is removed then i would need to take a CBT course.
there is no law i have heard of and i have looked i did ask a police officer about the laws for a 50cc once but he didn't know the laws and i think that is the general thing they get as well informed as we do

Hi chris, I am 49 years old looking to buy one of your bikes from your website, although drawn between comfort and style either the hero 50cc or the Yamasaki ym 50, I like the look of both but would prefer the bike which is easier to de restrict from new, moving on to take a CBT. what's your thoughts.
Both are easy to derestrict the hero has the most toque both are fairly comfortable

These bikes are restricted on the ecu so you need a remap and they are also restricted on the variator

I found the restrictor in air box inside pipe itself its a big rubber inner circle inside the pipe about 3mm thick

@@Ridingreviews yes smoother from 0 to 30 noticeably smoother 2mph more on normal road going down my steep hill 4mph more i actually got to see 62mph and with my 19.5 stone fat arse on it thats quite a acheivement

No mate you can change the rollers but they are pritty much as fast as there going to get
I have a vespa lx50 t2 with 3 restrictions. Do I have to remove all 3 or could I just remove to of them to increase topspeed?
One in the manifold one in the carb and one in the exhauste each one will help but it would be best to do both

you would need to change the cdi check the plugs of your cdi to make sure it is the same as ones on ebay

these have a different engine than the normal bikes i have has the neco alex one at 70 and it is essentially the same bike

there was only every 1 restrictor on these it was a metal gasket in between the manifold and the carb change that for a plastic one and it is derestricted

Chris- I own a Yamasaki YM-5e....I think it's a Ghost.. It's a Grom clone with the 139fmb engine 4 gears. I cannot find direct parts or any info on the actual model itself but I've found similar enough bikes and ATVs that could work for part reference.
How can I locate the restrictor plug or whatever I need to derestrict this 50cc 4 speed manual gear box?

we call them a monster here the cdi is on the right hand side under the seat there will be a 4 pin plug and a 2 pin plug unplug the 2 pin that should derestrict it
remember only do this if you are 17 years old

I realized it's also called an MC 156-50.
I mean finding parts in general.. My air filter is separating from the boot because of tension from other tubes pulling it at an angle...I don't want to modify this bike... I'd prefer to have a replacement filter so I don't have to rejet the carb and put on a pod filter

it will be electronically restricted also but you would need to have it remapped

they are not restricted they may have different sprocket sizes you can mess about with but the are not made restricted for the uk

Ushally these cdi units are under the seat bowl on the left hand side you have to remove the bowl it is ushally held on by 4 10mm bolts

no restriction on that bike you can get bigger exhaust and it goes a bit better but not much over 60

@@Ridingreviews I get 50mph really easy then it’s a struggle to 60/65mph. Also when I put it into 3rd gear it makes a grinding noise and I can’t use that gear atall 🧐 I’ve been skippping 3rd gear until i can afford to get it fixed, any ideas on what that could be ? Thank you.

Hi Chris, I have a WK SCRAMBLER 50 2022 is it possible to re-map the ECU?
They have the same ecu as the ym50 re, so there is a 50% chance the ym map will work, but no guarantees
Thanks Chris, is this remap something you could do for me? Cost? I could buy a second ECU for the bike from ebay plenty available from breakers and send to you for the remap then see if it works? My plan then if it works would be to complement the additional RPM availability with gearing change by more teeth on front sprocket to see of that gives a little extra.

Hi there. A question for who might know better then a begging like me. I have a SYM Mask 125( known as SYM Orbit until recently) . I've used unleaded petrol until now, today I've filled it up with super unleaded .Now the question is : will it damage in the long run my engine? The engine as I know is just a generic ( chinese) engine. Even if the SYM it self its Taiwanese brand. Anyway, what you guy recommend
I would sugest the super e5 fuel that is better for your engine long term

You need to swap the cdi

Are Mopeds restricted due to the type of bike license you have? they are dangerous on 60mph roads and hold up traffic.
More age at 16 you can ride a scooter that only goes 30mph at 17 you an ride a 125 that will go between 50 to 75 mph
How do you derestrict a honda clr 125 it only revs out half way and hits a limiter
they are not restricted your bike has an issue I read some forums and they all said this bike is not restricted and it only has 11 hp
Hi mate I have a 2020 direct bikes spyder 50cc scooter. I’ve tried contacting them to work out how to derestrict the bike however they will not tell me. It does have a 4 pin cdi unit, I tried to pull the pink wire out however it did not derestrict the bike. Any ideas?
it is a bit hard to tell without seeing one but on some of these engines they have a wire following the bottom of the engine casing ware the kick start is unplugged that and try it this will ever derestrict it or put it in limp mode if it is in limp mode plug it back in

@@Ridingreviews I got the direct bikes 50cc scooter derestricted. The method is the cdi, I just ordered one off Amazon and put it in. The new cdi is much bigger so it’s a bit awkward getting it in but with a bit of duct tape it’s fine

I'm not too sure on that one I will see if I can find out is it euro 4 or euro 3 is it 125 cc or 50 what year was it
On this one if you look under ware the kickstart is there is a thin wire funning parallel to the case you should be able to follow it and just unplug it if it runs for a couple of minutes then slows plug it back in and you man need a new cdi try the cable first should work

most of the time 125cc bikes or scooters are not restricted the enigma isnt if it has started to slow down do a service and set the tappets
Don't know if anyone has any ideas about how to derestrict a Generic Worx 125cc 4stroke Carburetted? I get 65mph out of it but that's just about redlining it. I pass soon and I can then upgrade but it would still be useful to know if possible. Cheers.
That what these bikes are rated for if you want more speed it means spending money a better carb with bigger jetting a different air box a different exhauste and change the front and rear sprockets but it will still only be a 70 to 75mph bike

Hello, can you help me. My Yamaha MT125 2019 is restricted and iv looked everywhere trying to find out how to restricted it. It is my second MT125, the first one use to reach about 70 mph and then slowly climb to about 77mph, my current MT125 doesnt go past 65mph

125cc are not restricted if it is a carb you could add a cone filter turn the air scre to about 2 turs that will give a bit more but not much
Could you help me I have a ajs daytona 125 and apparently it's restricted it's got 2 carbs
on the website these are good for 60mph it states you can change the jet size on the carb that may give it a bit of speed

Hi I have a keeway tx 50 that does 45 is there anyway to derestrict it because i have put a 70 kit on and it hasn’t made it any faster
You would need to get bigger jets for the carb you made it so it can use more fuel but dont give it any more

How do I derestrict a Malaguti XSM 50? It restricts at 50 km/h
from what I can see on google it is a CDI change but this is just what I have read so can't be 100% sure as I have never done it on this bike myself

They are not restricted they will do 40 plus from new
The lexmoto hunter is restricted in the carb, I've got one and you can buy a smaller carb slide from cmpo or get the standard one out the carb and take about 10mm off it
The slide is £10 but I just gotine out and cut it and it works fine, can do 50 max on flat ground

Your S-Wing uses the same engine as the wildly popular SH125, meaning it's built for reliability and low running costs, not for tuneability.
According to the scooter masters at Polini, it's a pretty hard engine to "beef up": they manufacture a number of parts for it (mostly for the transmission) but they generally advise against touching anything.

@@Ridingreviews No way, there must be something, I already know of a few things to do. I was hoping for more of a professional direction. My son and I will be posting a review of the bike as I think there is only one other on youtube, which isn't an honest review about the gearing and power of the bike.
There are some small things you can do but it wont make that much difference like make sure the tappets are at 4000 of a inch i have never ridden one of these bikes and if you can review it please do so as a review from an owner helps people out what is your top speed
@@Ridingreviews Yeah well it isn't 70mph. My Honda XL125 in 1984 was faster. Infact an 50cc FS1-E Would eat it alive fully rehauled. Really dissatisfied with what it delivers. Anyway, I'll leave this till later.

i believe on that one you need a new cdi you can get them of amazon get a derestricted cdi
50cc stt and was told it could not be derestricted how do I know if they are telling me the truth. They said it has some electric system even though it's not an electric bike.
If it is a euro 3 bike it would be change the cdi for a derestricted one if its euro 4 it is get a remap

the 50cc version is restricted i don't think the 125cc is but if it is it will be in the exhaust but i can't guarantee this what speed does it do now

These arnt ushally restricted you should be getting 50 to 60 mph

@@Ridingreviews thanks, how much are these derestricted cdis generally? Can you recommend any in particular? Do both cdi and exhaust need done or can one only be done without the other? Bike goes 30mph, would like 40 to 50mph.

What about a KSR Moto 125 mate
These are a 65 mph bike they dont have alot of power at 10 hp you could add a tooth to the front sprocket but you will lose talque there isnt alot you can do to it really
