The jump to the cause of this being "undetectable but undeniable racial prejudice" is conjecture at best and really the hypothesis becomes weaker and weaker if you look any deeper into it.
Briahna would accomplish more by focusing on LITERACY rates for black students - 40% of black students NATIONWIDE are not literate - and the rate of illiteracy is even higher in urban areas (70%). So, if she wants "representation" of black Americans in the corporate world, business ownership, etc. then that lack of value/emphasis on EDUCATION in black neighborhoods/schools, etc. HAS TO CHANGE.
That's a good point. Whether intentional or not, many initiatives to solve social problems only end up making excuses and justifications for why things are so bad rather than actually working directly on the problems.

I'm yet to see him answer a question she asked. An example is when she said people were currently being discriminated against and people wouldn't get jobs for having black sounding names, she asked him what policies he would enact to make sure that didn't happen.. It actually wasn't specifically targeted to blacks. It was targeted towards slaves (who were obviously black) and even helped refugees and poor whites.

You don't need a policy. There is a law! Also consider that if employers are factoring in 'black names' in hiring, maybe they are assuming that upstream in the process, ie college admission, the person might be a dei admission. This is the problem with affirmative action. It creates even the impression of reduced qualification.

I'm an old white DC plumber. Grew up in PG County in black neighborhoods and black schools. DEI and BLM do nothing tangible for the black community my black friends down off Benning Road were appalled at the thought of defund the police. Those neighborhoods used to be open air drug markets. How about some economic investment supporting black small businesses. How about somebody figure out why inner city schools are graduating people who can't read past the fourth grade. How about stop using welfare to social engineer single family homes. How about creating a job market so inner city young men can see some kind of future. How about something someone do something real for the black community.
I think you know why, Wayne. The people who have power do not want to help black people. They do not see that as beneficial to them. They would rather keep things going the way they are - there is a tremendous amount of money in private prisons, recruiting military age black men would be a heck of a lot harder if black men could achieve the qualifications and skills needed for a successful future outside of the military, crime and poverty actually generate a lot of wealth for the people who are not poor!!

@@thagrandpubah The vast majority of hiring managers don't pay attention to race. There actually hasn't been a good recent study that race plays a role in hiring. There were some famous studies in the oughts that used "black names" but "black names" are not a race. They indicate a race AND a social class. When the study was redone using better names the difference in callbacks was barely statistically significant.
NOW we have a problem that the people who study this are predisposed to produce the outcome that matches their preconceptions. You cannot accurately produce a study when your own biases prevent you from doing so.
Take for instance Dr. Fryar's famous Policing study. He went into the study expecting it to confirm his biases. When the results came back that he was wrong, rather than accepting that he re-did the study... and got the same results, and he's intellectually honest. None of Grey's professors meet that criteria.

It's very sad to me that people who have been historically discriminated against should take pleasure in seeing others discriminated against. Was that the goal of the Civil Rights Movement, to enact revenge? Or was it to uphold the Constitution, which states that all men (people) are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights? Resentment over the past, or even perceived injustices of today, does not justify turning a blind eye to what is ultimately right. That's called losing perspective. There's a reason the pursuit to equality came so far; because honorable people on all sides kept their eye on the promise of equality while others hated on account of darker skin tone. And, now, again, we're losing that promise, because of hatred in the other direction.
And, yes, it's crazy our obsession over the past, in America. We all but made it to MLK's "promised land" of equality under the law, the train was pulling into the station, and then the left just decided to go full throttle on the accelerator and take the train off the rails.

Elon Musk's point about DEI and black pilots was that with DEI, suddenly passengers were going to start doubting their pilot because they wouldn't know whether or not the pilot had made it into the cockpit on their merit versus DEI.

How unreasonable is the idea that Elon is racist--or, at the very least, irresponsible or unnecessarily provocative--for suggesting that DEI will cause people to doubt a black pilot's capabilities when in fact there's no data that provides reason for that doubt? Did Elon deliberately "miss the point" for political effect?

Maybe it's hard to prove because it isn't happening on a mass scale. You could simply file a complaint and, in discovery, compare the qualifications of the person who was hired vs. the person who was denied the job.

DEI is trash. It mostly focuses on irrelevant points. Also, Critical Race Theory was a horrible name. Should have just been called "Telling it like it is and was". Much better name lol. Both of these were horrible attempts to do something that is positive. Go back to the drawing board.
Did a paper on CRT. It was originally called Critical Theory, but when the black college students on campus in the 70s complained to their white liberal comrades that CT didn't touch on race issues enough the white students were like "we ain't got time for that". Thus CRT was born
At the least, they are attempts at creating a more fair system where our system is truly white supremacist. The policies themselves may not be perfect or as good as they could be but at least it’s an attempt and the Right is upset not because the policies are unfair but because they want to keep a white supremacist status quo.
@@danidesip2432 I would argue that these "theories" are severely flawed in many respects. The most glaring is that the programs and initiatives they lead to typically don't work in practice. But I will concede that as a framework for viewing social problems, the perspectives can be helpful as long as we all recognize that it is not the only worldview.
Critical race theory is about trying to equate everything to race. Everything is caused by racism, your job is to find out how.

I recall when I was 27 while living, I applied to a job with my resume and got a call back for an interview. My girlfriend and I were really excited. I get dressed up with a suit, head in early to the interview. I greet a man there and he ask me what am I doing here. I express I’m here for the interview. He responded, hold up, your name is Anderson? I responded yes. He then when on to apologize to me and let me know the position is no longer available. I wish I was more knowledgeable than of how illegal that practice was.
Truthfully, there is no way to solve this issue that discriminates against people that are different in hiring of jobs. The best solution is to start your own business and implement better practices with less biases.

Who determines when someone is equal? When does that happen? Because even if its for some equal outcome the actual process is giving an advantage to someone based on their identity and no one is going to stop and say "okay its good we can stop now". With their being no clearly defined end goal we are stuck at the mercy of the people who advocate for these systems.

If they find they have a hiring manager who hires their own race (and yes this happens), they bring them in, and talk about it, but they cannot themselves say "hire this race", because that's illegal too.
You would have to have something widespread and persistent for years to lose a case, or have people writing "I am not hiring a BLANK" in an email which comes out in discovery, and people don't do that (anymore).
Affirmative action was always a myth. Unless you are hiring high school kids at Wendy's you don't have "identical resumes".. and even then some high school kids have better handwriting than others. I remember hiring a girl 50% based on her handwriting on the application form.

proof in civil law is limited by the laws on the books...and the laws on the books have less to do with reality and more to do with what's been agreed upon by lawmakers, corrupt lawmakers & people with money/power/influence... police run into these same issues when trying to get convictions.
The law only deals with one specific case, the study deals with multiple interactions that show a pattern. Most would agree that anti-black racism by whites still exists in the country, that doesn't mean I can look at a random white man and insist he's racist because he's white.

It’s always interesting how no one wants to answer that fundamental question. How does one remove racist leaders with an authority to hire from the workforce?
It’s much easier to just simply say “well we got rid of racist laws and policies”. Because it’s a tangible correction. But the racist hiring manager is an intangible problem. And naturally a healthy majority of European Americans, like Robby, will rarely if ever mention that you need to remove European Americans from positions of power to ensure more of a balance, because who gives up power?
Throughout our history as human beings we’ve take power either through merit, force, or economic influence. And European Americans expect Black Americans to do that to claim some forms of power. In order to do that Black Americans need to do what Asian Americans (Chinese with finance and Indians with Tech) did. It’s a difficult challenge as there are many odds against Black Americans but it’s not impossible.

But the reality is there is not any significant amount of mistreatment or discrimination against black & Latinos in the work place.
The failed public education system is the real culprit and worst example of systemic racism. If that major problem was overhauled, everyone would have a competitive edge in the marketplace, therefore giving everyone equal opportunities.
