The Turn on the Forehand is an excellent exercise to develop looseness and coordination. Useful for opening gates and as a first lesson in teaching the horse to move away from the leg.
In this video I show you how to teach your horse turn on the forehand and the turn about the forehand in hand.
This is followed by how to ride the turn on the forehand and the turn about the forehand. The aims, aids and benefits to horse and rider of this exercise.

Thanks for the great video! My horse was a little sluggish off my leg for half pass so we've been focusing on getting her softer and more responsive using turn on the forehand. It's been a bit of a sticking point for me for some reason but watching this video definitely helped me get my head around where I may have been going wrong! Sometimes I feel like I have too many of my own body parts to control haha!
