In this video I review the iconic Boss Of The Plains cowboy hat by STETSON.

Just got notified my size is in stock and ordered one today. My first Stetson and probably the only time I will ever spend a couple hundred dollars on a hat. I got it stretched out over 4 payments one every 2 weeks. I'm really excited though!

That's a fine hat brother. Perfect color and it looks a lot better since you reshaped it. I steam mine over a pot of boiling water on the stove - haven't managed to ever do it without a scald...yet.
The scalding is part of the process my friend.
Got one last year and love it. My son in law liked it so much, I got him one too and he loves his too. Good looking cowboy hat. It is hard to find them in stock but was notified of their availability within a couple weeks both times though. Only downside may be it’s a gamble on color. You’ll get a shade of brown but no say so in what that shade is. I got a chocolate brown. SiL got a tan. Both look great but just know you can’t really pick the color. To me,it looks like more of what I think of as a cowboy hat than the current snow shovel creased ones and wears great.

If I knew I would get that color I would have owned one along time ago! But I know my luck I’d get a dark one and I won’t wear dark hats, too hot in south Florida

Love your Cowboy Hat review videos! Please consider doing more. I bought my Powder River Buffalo Stetson based on your review and have not looked back since, in fact I now own 3 of that model alone, out of a total of 11 cowboy hats. You can never have enough cowboy hats I tell my wife, and she agrees (resignedly agrees, but still...)
Funny my Grand Dad (a New Zealander) actually worked as a CowBoy in the USA back in the 1930’s. In New Zealand he used to where a 10 gallon Stetson which used to get the odd 2nd glance in conservative rural New Zealand! I use a type of leather cowboy hat with a neck tie and also have a Akubra Australian made rabbit felt hat. Nice Hat. Cheers Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

I have a "pony express". You can't beat a stetson. Must have gear in the california desert of Indio. We get temps over 120 in summer. That's in the shade by the way!

I hate to disappoint Mr. Wingman, but that isn't really a Boss of the Plains hat. It is a Boss of the Plains like the Mustang II was to the original Mustang. The Boss of the Plains was the original hat that Stetson made and sold to the people in the old West. The ranchers, farmers, and Indians that could afford them all wore them. They had flat brims and a slightly rounded almost flat top. You can see examples in the photos from the old West. Also that heavyset guy who appraises Americana on "Pawn Stars" wears one.
Factory installed distressing, aggressive modern brim shaping, and a cattleman's crease does not a make a Boss of the Plains hat, no matter what Stetson wants to call it. John B. Stetson would not approve.

i dont like fur, fur trapping, fur farming, but that hat that john wayne wears in the first half of liberty valance. That tall pinched tom mix style. Wish i could get one of those

We're getting a ton of rain on the coast and a bunch of snow in the local mountains. I was hunting last monday and nothing was moving. I may have to wait a few more weeks.
Thanks for the video! After watching this I was certain I wanted one but as usual they were out of stock. I had been on the emailing list for months when they finally had a few more ready. I just got it last week and fortunately mine wasn't as "taco" shaped, but I do plan on doing a little shaping myself because that is some of the fun.
I did have a question for you. Did your hat come covered in dirt/dust? Mine was covered and leaving dust all over the house, car and my hands. I'm sure this is part of their distressing process so I brushed what I could off and then actually hit it with some air from my shop and it's good now. I was just curious if maybe they forgot to clean it off once they had finished distressing it, and I am curious if I should have just used all of that dust to further "dirty"/distress the hat. I'm also wondering if it will turn to a muddy/wet dirt when shaping the hat.
I will say it did give me an inside look as to how they distress these. I'm guessing they use costume distressing materials. Makes me want to do one of my other hats one day. Anyway, thanks again and great review of the hat!
Side note, the bends in my brim are also not centered on the hat which drives me crazy. Another reason I will be doing some self-shaping.

I has 2 supposedly pricey Stetson hats I was given and this younger man than I that i worked with hijacked them and I never saw them again. 😂
