It's been proven clinically that a person helping another person has a release of endorphin in their brain and they physically feel better. In addition, a person just witnessing someone else helping someone also has a release of endorphin in their brain and they also feel physically better. So what you said is in fact true.

As a military veteran I've received so much kindness from many people and there just aren't words to express my appreciation. One incident happened when I was dining at a local restaurant. When I requested my bill the waiter informed me my meal had been paid for by a lady who had already departed. To her and the many who have made my journey in uniform so meaningful, THANK YOU.

This reminds me of what happened to me many years ago. In 1973 I was an Army Staff Sergant stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. My father died and I was going home for his funeral. When I got to the airport in Frankfort, I found that there was not an empty seat on the plane I needed to take to D.C. About 5 minutes later, a full Col.stepped off the plan, walked up to me, saluted me and said go home to be with your family son. He hugged me and walked over to the waiting room to wait for a later flight.

    • @reb1225

So the Army sent you to the airport with a ticket for a seat on a plane that didn't exist?! WOW! And if it was military transport, then your emergency leave takes priority over all others on the plane and you are guaranteed a seat. So it wasn't a kind gesture, it was a requirement.

Years ago when I was stationed in England in the Air Force my Dad passed away. I was 20 years old and devastated. I was flying home back to Texas for the funeral and shortly after the flight took off from London, the flight attendant came over and asked me to grab my things and come with her.....she took me to first class and said have a seat. I sat down and cried. It made me feel so appreciated and proud to be in the military. I am 53 years old now and still miss my Dad like it was yesterday.

This is just another real good feel good story designed to illicit your emotions. I'm sick of how military personnel have been treated over the years. During the hippie years they were so despised they were cursed at and spit upon at the airports. Today there's this politically correct nonsense to treat ALL of them as heroes. Both of them are just as wrong.
I served in the Navy and was an Army brat growing up. And this might come as a surprise to most, but we have HUMAN beings serving in the Military. Some are heroes true but there are also thieves, rapist, embezzlers, etc etc. in all branches of the service too. Some people are smart, others are semi retarded. Some work hard others are lazy. Some people lay down their lives for their fellow shipmates etc. Some just look for a way to cheat the system. Most of them are somewhere in between.
Not to mention in today's political atmosphere most service men don't wear their uniforms off base. With the exception of "Military towns" most people you see in uniform are either recruiters or are stealing valor and pretending to be in the military. Can you imagine giving some D-Bag pretender a free meal ?!?

I was in the airline business for 33 years and have seen the sort of kindness many times. It really warms your heart to see someone go out of their way to make a complete stranger have a better day. The best story I can remember was when a middle-aged and very overweight women that was sitting in coach was loudly complaining to the flight attendant that she needed more room. Sitting next to her was a young and very pregnant young lady that never said a word and even though she was being crowded out by the other woman. The flight attendant apologized and said she would see what she could do. She asked the lady to stand in the aisle for a minute and then asked the young mother to also stand and move towards the aisle. The fussing lady sure was surprised when the flight attendant moved the young lady to first-class and told the other woman that was the best she could do for her to have more room. The other passenger applauded.

Sucharski to keep his ceremonial sabre while in captivity, at first at least) - was one of the first battles in this war and then after official capitulation the Poles fought for the next 5 and a half years, mostly guerrilla war and resistance in the country, against the occupying Germans and initially (from 17th Sep 1939 till the summer of 1941) against the Soviet forces, while the Polish soldiers on emigration formed Polish Armed Forces in the West and joined the Western Allies’ forces in the fight against Germans and their allies all over the world in “most Allied operations against Nazi Germany in the Mediterranean and Middle East and the European theatres: the North African Campaign (with the Battle of Monte Cassino being one of the most notable), the Western European Campaign (from Dieppe Raid and D-Day through Battle of Normandy and latter operations, especially Operation Market Garden).” [after Wikipedia entry “Polish Armed Forces in the West”]
And after all this valour and sacrifice, W. Churchill and F.D. Roosevelt got scared of Josef Stalin at Yalta and agreed to give up Poland under the Soviet “protection” and actual management! The Polish veterans of the Polish Armed Forces in the West were not able to return to the motherland for fear of death (the factually Soviet-controlled new Polish government exterminated the Armia Krajowa (the Polish Home Army of WW II) heroic soldiers...) and were not even present at the London Victory Parade of 1946. Officially they were invited but the delegation from Poland never arrived because of the pressure from Moscow and the invited Polish veterans of the RAF (of the two Polish squadrons (302 and 303) who had fought under British RAF (the Battle of Britain!) refused because the Polish Army and Navy were not invited. And the Polish “Surplus Heroes” were advised to go home...
I think there have never been better soldiers than were the Polish soldiers (both in Armia Krajowa at home and the Polish Armed forces in the West) during the WW II. I’m very proud of them and I’m very proud of coming from such a brave and honourable nation!
Have a peaceful and happier New Year 2021! Cheers!

This sort of thing can be contagious. When I was at an airport bar waiting for a flight, 3 Marines came in and took a table, and I overheard one say, "we might as well have a few drinks - we won't be partying in Baghdad." I told the waitress to put their first round on my tab. One of them thanked me and the guy next to me grabbed some menus and said, "Get yourselves a good meal - on me." They were still there when I had to board, but while I was there, at least two other men at the bar told the waitress not to let them pay for anything - they'd get it. One small act of kindness, and suddenly, a bunch of people were piling on. I hope they had a good time.

It was 1968 and I was just 3 months in the Air Force when I received word that my father had passed away. I was only 18. My Sgt. and others helped fund me to get me home for the funeral. I had to dress up in my Air Force blues to get a plane on stand-by as I hardly had any money to afford a regular ticket. I sat way back in the last row where the stewardess were and just kept to myself. Then, whenever people walked by me to go to the bathroom, some would sneer, cuss and several even spit on me. I knew I was being labeled as a war loving militant because of my uniform and we were hated for participating in the Vietnam war. A stewardess saw what was happening and got out of her seat in the back and came and sat in the aisle side of my row. She looked at me not saying a word and I started crying. This young lady was the shoulder I needed at that time and I think of her often. A small act of kindness has lasted a lifetime for me. Her comforting action and compassion definitely eased my trip home.

On one of my jobs just before Christmas I walked the airport concourse and when I saw a military person in uniform I would offer them a first class upgrade. I gave away all my coupons that day. I agree I also think our military shouldn't have to ride in coach. They are willing to die so airplanes full of people have the right to fly safely. The airlines make money off military personnel sill on duty. It's sickening. Since they do they should be given discounted tickets so they can fly with a bit of leg room. Just my opinion

@@cryswalden131 when i see the phrase 'god bless them all' , I take that as the writer hoping god blesses them all in that group specifically ( in this case those in military service). If the writer hopes and thinks god should bless everybody, wouldn't it be... 'god bless us all'?
You are talking about what god feels to all of us... pretty presumptuous as well, but you think reading some ancient books translated a dozen times gives you that insight, well... bless your heart.
I was replying to Randy who hoped god blessed all those who are serving/served in the military. I doubt he would want god to bless Osama bin Laden. I was just making the point there are OBL types (evil) everywhere even in uniform so let's praise people on their actions and beliefs not what they are wearing.

I remember it was the day before drill weekend for my National Guard unit and I was in uniform at the time getting ready to take public transit into the city to catch an Amtrak train to the town of my duty station. As I waited for the next trolley to take me to the city I had lunch at a nearby diner, unfortunately no longer there today. When I was about to pay for my lunch I was told a stranger who had been dining in the corner, paid for my meal before she left. She didn't have to do that but it was one of the nicest random acts of kindness I had received. Normally it would be me paying for someone's meal on my journeys to and from my post. I'd usually buy some hot food for homeless people around the Amtrack station and public transit terminal just because it felt right to do.

For me I gave up my first class seat for my best friend and she was so confused when the flight attendant called her name. After the plane landed she expressed her sincere thanks saying that she just had the best flight ever that she will never forget. :) I felt so happy about it and today I smile after reading this, It reminds me...

My story may not go viral like this one did but it shows that there are a lot of really nice people in this world. Most of my early life I was treated very poorly by others that I went to school with and people i worked with as well as others that met . A lot of them wouldn't have anything to do with me. Now that I'm older I have had people offer to help me out if I needed it. This help was never asked for by me and was and is greatly appreciated. I would would be in a local store ready to check out and not have enough money to pay for the items that I bought. These people would step forward and pay what I owed. Which goes to say that love and kindness can go a long way to making this world a better place.
