  • Following the Great Migration in the Serengeti Mara Ecosystem, from the North, in the Maasai Mara Reserve, in Kenya on August 2011, to the South, around Lake Ndutu, in the Serengeti, in Tanzania, on December 2011. If the planned commercial road and also a railway across the Serengeti go ahead, the Great Migration will be disrupted, more than 1 million of the migratory mammals will disappear, there will be no future for the big predators, the Great Serengeti Mara will be lost forever. From Serengeti Watch we're working to save the Serengeti. JOIN US!!! www.savetheserengeti.org and visit the facebook pages STOP THE SERENGETI HIGHWAY and AMIGOS DEL SERENGETI.

    Tanzania today has a new government under president Magufuli that actually cares about the country and its resources. Unlike the previous corrupt government under president Kikwete when this project was being proposed.

    There are certain issue we can accept but certain issue we have to make it much better for the mammals to live
    If the Tazania Government willing to build some bridge for the mammals to cross the river..meaning they are proctecting the environment (the river and the banks each side from collapsing and pollution)and the mammals
    If they are thinking of the crocodiles also part of the eco system..its only a few percentage of it besides..the voulager..the lions e.t.c.

    - Has anyone thought of or make a study that ... if 5% of the migratory beast be captured to provide meats for human consumption annually ... how will that affect the population of the animals..???

    • @XavierSurinyach
      @XavierSurinyach  Před 8 lety +1

      +Teh Choo Siang Why do you think that wildlife should be killed to get meat for human consumption? By the way, about 125,000 of these migratory ungulates are killed every year by poachers to feed illegal bushmeat market.

    • @siangteh
      @siangteh Před 8 lety

      - The reason is that... if we humans do not make them our food, then the other animals, like the reptile crocodile will kill & eat them just the same.
      - While we entertain the idea of eating them, considerations & limits must be set so they do not ended up like the endangered animals species like the wild bissons of North America, the Sumatran tigers, or Orang Utan's in Indonesia., elephants in Africa & Myanmar, certain species of whales & tuna fish,... etc etc..
      - As the Chinese had been using tiger body parts & the certain antelope's horn as traditional medicine... I do not see it unethical to... domesticate them so to farm & harvest for their meats, just like cattle, poultry & fishes...
      - The above satisfy you..?? Kindly add your comments to enhance our knowledge..

    • @XavierSurinyach
      @XavierSurinyach  Před 8 lety +2

      +Teh Choo Siang What you are saying it makes no sense at all. We humans do not need to make wildlife our food as we're farming our own food already.

    • @siangteh
      @siangteh Před 8 lety

      - Read my comment properly... Don't jump the gun...
      - We humans had domesticated other animals as beast of burden for us, and some species became a sustainable source for food..
      - That was a QUESTION... asking if there's any study done....
      - My comment can was also mean, if , and how hunting the migratory wildlife as food affect their population...
      - And...'. if we humans do not make them our food, then the other animals, like the reptile crocodile will kill & eat them just the same."..

      Teh you're just another boofhead. Why not est other humans aren't isn't this planet over populated? Why pick on wild life, you are already slaughtering millions of cows, sheep, chickens, pigs etc daily.
