  • This video highlights a water test of Canada's iconic race boat, Miss Canada IV, in Gravenhurst Bay, Ontario, October 14, 2013. Miss Canada was the first boat in the world to (unofficially) break the water speed record of 200 mph. She has recently been completely restored and is undergoing water tests to fine tune her fuel delivery system.

    I especially like how she lurches forwards and backwards and up and down away and towards. And kudos to the photographer who held the camera steady enough to reveal those extraordinary ride characteristics.

    Ask the air race guys. Most of them are running RR Griffin engines. We also run a Spitfire and Lightning. The brains trust at the moment is the Texas Rebel Airforce. Looking at the exhausts they are very restrictive. RR Merlins and Griffins don't like backpressure on the exhaust. This will be limiting the revs, and probably why this filters back to the fuel system.

    never seen a clip of the boat yet where it isn't just mushing alog, barely on plane. Hopefully in the end, the performance issues were sorted out on this boat.

    what information does the poster of this video have that this boat actually ever cracked 200? all i can find is a report that it was "close to 200 on the return run", but the transmission failed and she coasted to a stop 100 yards from the finish line.

    Would be great if they could get this video done on a decent modern cam , can't see the dam thing but it looks like it may be a nice boat .. just can't see anything , the video is terrible.

    It’s unfortunate that the people with the money to redo these old boats have so little know how to redo these beautiful old boats.

    If you can not get the RPM that you need you have too much pitch/ambition adjust your prop and fix the engine, overloading the engine will only exacerbate things. Other than that rant I love your project, if you are going to play with one of these old aircraft engines why not put it into something where you can play with it at full power without going airborne and just watching it on a test bed isn't going to light my passion, 10/10 I love it.

    Not sure I’d have the balls to drop the hammer on a 3k hp wooden boat. Oh!, that’s right. I’ll never have to worry about it because I can’t even afford the 100+ octane gas to feed 3k horses. Lol

    • @pcboatsandcottages6949
      @pcboatsandcottages6949 Před 7 lety +2

      Hi David, Perhaps "iconic "is an overused word"...to me it represents a boat that has achieved some fame an/ or otherwise significant public awareness and recognition.

    • @davidfarmer2049
      @davidfarmer2049 Před 7 lety +1

      So, might it be termed ...as you say yourself, a "famous" race boat?
      Doesn't that say all you need?
      Yes, that term has been thrashed to within an inch of it's life. The Queen's English is a rich and varied language...... I don't think we have to use a one-word- to-suit-all approach?
      Thanks for the reply. :-)
