I really love the effort you put into this video and the clear homage to the source materials that inspired this remake. My personal takeaway is a feeling that trying to ascribe "human logical definitions" to the Thalasin+ emotions doesn't work in the manner presented, even though I was kind of hoping it could, LOL. It's fun, mind you, but it does more to amuse rather than adding to the inexplicable dread. (And I'm not saying this to diminish your work! It's great, just not what I was expecting, maybe 🤔) Seeing this remake highlights what exactly was terrifying about the original: these are states of being that could only ever hope to be understood as they are experienced. Not to mention several of them seem indicative of irreversible changes that are far beyond comprehension. 07:33 mentions this in the video and is a very Lovecraftian/existential take, which may be the point. I also feel like 06:35 was more of what I actually wanted to see: what does someone experiencing dorcelessness (for instance) look and behave like? That is truly terrifying to me.
also there are 2 types of “Varination”: 1:24 is the non-approved one and could be “an alternate”. 1:55 is the approved one and *could* be the _original_ .
