This year, for the first time, I've been doing huevember. Not the classic "one drawing per day" challenge because I don't have that kind of energy, but a variant where you combine the days by three. So you end up with a palette of very adjacent hues, enough to give you a variety but not nearly enough to depict all the colors you'd like. So your experiment with this palette kinda reminded me of that haha! I lvoe the exercice so far, it's pushed me to think about how I approach saturation and taugh me of to use greys to "fake" colors. I hope your palette explorations will be good learning experiences too!
Damn, that landscape looks gorgeous! Those small details make it come together really nicely. And I was surprised how well the watermelon works with these colours, since the green was missing. Very good reminder to stray from the habitual paths when it comes to picking colours once in a while - thanks for sharing!
ok but this inspired me so much??? i haven't touched my paints for over 5 months and i think this is the time to get back to it and fall in love with painting all over again Thank you Minnie
this spread is just ?? incredible. your experiments are so delightful and that end result on the landscape was gorgeous, the way the yellow ochre plays on the cool tones of the tree? i love you. i love what you make.
These earthy tones are beautiful. I think a limited color palette is a fun art challenge to work on. I love when artists use a couple unusual colors to create realistic images. Ultimately, your brain will tell you what you’re looking at based on the context clues from the details. I have to work in limited color palettes as a printmaker because full color relief prints are very time consuming. In the last couple years, I’ve mostly done just black and white, but I want to start working limited colors into my art again.
I love it 😊 I actually don't miss the blue, or better: I don't miss the blue in the landscape you chose. I always struggle to paint a moody sky, so not using blue is something I am going to try out!
it sort of feels like an old dim photograph that maybe has yellowed over time. Really interesting how it still has blue and green, or tricks the eye to think it does.
to be honest, Minnie, I haven't written or painted anything in a while and it's mostly because of my depression. but i am always warmed by your videos. i love your voice and the aura of your art and just how genuine and kind you are. i think i'm going to try to paint more after this semester is over, that and pick up french again. i want to be fluent soon, maybe next year. and i want to stock my own shop with originals. i can't wait to see your next video and i'm so proud of you for trying something out of your comfort zone!! i think it's the most challenging thing but exciting thing for an artist
DEAR GOD! Your videos are always so perfect, aesthetically pleasing, beautiful, organized... It’s amazing how you can turn a simple 3 color challenge into an amazing video were young artists can learn!
This was fascinating to watch! The watermelon really popped once you added those highlights at the end. And the landscape is marvelous! I am so intimidated by landscapes, so I absolutely love watching the process of creating them. I can't wait to see what kinds of art you make with a more muted palette!
Your little landscape made me realise how much blue is involved in summer scenes - to make green, mostly - and how the absence of blue is what characterises winter landscape colours
I like the way you paint. Simple yet profound. I never not walk away changed from your videos. I got my first set of gouache because of you! A true inspiration. 😌🙏
I was in some kind of slumber and I wasn't in the mood to draw for weeks. Your video got me to leave my bed, take my sketchbook and start to draw again :)
OHH Zorn Pallet is so interesting, ever since you uploaded your last vid i just couldn't stop waiting :) I was trying to use this pallet with gouache and kind of failed. Now I have more inspo to try again!
Love this spread. There's somthing so satisfying about the swatch shades and the watermelon I am in love with. I need to get back to painting and this kind of thing makes me miss my old self so so much xxx
The paintings turned out so lovely Minnie! I love how cohesive and dreamy the landscape one feels, that watermelon also looks surprisingly juicy with only minimal palette ❤️ i think Zorn palette is amazing in that you can get many subtle tones just from 3 colors but i still don't know how to feel about it! i like looking at muted palette but actually working with them doesn't bring me that much joy. Though the result is nice and less tacky, i think having an enjoyable process is also important part of art making. Maybe i'll try switch some color or make a huge color swatch like you did in here.. 🤔 anyhow keep up the good work, Minnie! Looking at your art and your videos always inspire me to draw better, or just do better in general ❤️
I also tried this palette a few months ago and was surprised at how versatile it was! I can totally relate to what you said about missing the blue hues, so I suggest you try doing a blue wash or a base before starting the painting, since some of if will still show up on the final painting
This is so inspiring! I struggle with colors a lot, I think my main opportunity is about values.. but this is such a great idea to try out different palletes, thank you!
The first time I heard of the Zorn palette I was intrigued. I really love the simplicity and enjoy using it to paint watercolor roosters. Great vid; thanks for sharing your experience.
Your landscape turned out SO beautiful, Minnie! Incredible job in testing out this color palette. Love all your work and your very calming and aesthetically pleasing videos
A few years ago I did a painting using the Zorn Palette and it was a bit challenging using those color for a landscape but a lot of fun. I really enjoyed your video and watching how creative you are.
Your videos are always so relaxing and inspiring. Browsing your sketchbooks must be delightful! Loved the contrast you could achieved with this pallette. The landscape was lovely with the muted colours. And the watermelon so cute and bright! I just started experimenting with gouache so I only bought some essential colours, very limited. And this looks like an interesting study and challenge to do, completely achievable with the materials I already have. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for making this video! It's a really interesting limited palette to challenge and your video inspired me to go try out the Zorn chart/palette as well!
I use so much blue in my paintings that this scary and intriguing! Now that I've seen your examples I need to try this - your little landscape is gorgeous and I'd never guess that you didn't use blue! 💙
Stunning as always! I love the videos where you put technical limits on yourself, because no matter what happens, your end result is always a beautiful work of art. ❤️
Wonderful video - thank you Minnie! This was somehow so so inspiring to me right now and I really want to take out my paints again (having only used oil pastels lately)
I recently experimented with a watercolor palette of perylene violet, perylene green, and transparent yellow ochre from Schmincke. It was so fun to use for the portrait I did! I did find myself mildly annoyed that I couldn't match the reference subject's blue eyes in the painting, but I gave her green eyes instead and I think it turned out really lovely.
That was fascinating! Such beautiful artwork, and very inspiring. I love working with a limited palette anyway, but this takes it to another level. I only wish this video was longer - I could have easily watched 30 minutes of this!
I love how fast you talk! Had to turn my speed down from 1.5 back to regular 😂 Also, I'm super impressed with the resulting painting based on the pallete. Blowing my mind :)
I’m completely blown away by the painting on the right can’t quite believe you achieved that stunning landscape from such a limited palette. I think it’s warped my mind that there was no green anywhere. You are a true artiste 🧑🎨
hi minnie ! love your content as always. you inspire me so much to continue being creative. I had a video idea, could you make a video where youre painting but talking about your top 3 or 5 favorite quotes? your voice is so calming and i love seeing you paint! the quotes could be anything, but i guess quotes that have motivated you! have a great day !!
This was so gentle and inspiring. I am lost with limited pallets but now feel I may just give this a go. Thank you for your content and for sharing your journey. I really appreciate the time, passion and sheer determination you put out in realising your vision. Your channel has been a light at a difficult time. 😊
I absolutely love these videos where I can learn something from her great artworks! ♥ I've always been curious about how can I set up a nice pallete, since too many colours can be quite overwhelming. Great video. ♥
I think the greys that the black makes with white acts as a blue. When mixed with yellow ochre, it looks sufficiently green. I loved this experiment! I love how clearly my mind shows me the greens in your landscape and the watermelon even when there's no blue.
I really like the watermelon and your landscapes never fail to impress! 😍 How about swapping black for ultramarine blue, that's a warm blue that'll probably work with the colour palette. 😊
I really do like that one! The clours of your choosing is really good I am thinking I may try something like that as well! Plus I really do love making swatches like that ! Amazing painting as well!
Really cool video! As a bit of a coincidence I just heard a news bit on public radio here in Sweden today that someone is examining Zorns palette from a scientific perspective, using infrared scanning and what not. This far they had indeed found, as you mentioned, that he uses cobalt blue and a number of other colors not on the traditional zorn palette. I found this a bit amusing to see it referenced two times in one day, especially as I am currently studying painting and colours are not my strong suite.
The landscape is evocative of back home moving from late autumn into winter 🧡
anyone else literally just drop everything they're doing to come watch this when they got the notification that Minnie posted??
Absolutely! 😅
Legit me. I was on Discord with my friends and just told them to wait 5 mins for me while I watched this xD
Every time. ❤️
Always ☺️✨

oh I don't think I've heard of Huevember. Must research
@@recoveringsoul755 Never heard of this. Sounds wonderful.

The Zornamelon is amazing, your mind fills in the gaps so quickly.
“Zornamelon” is hilarious.
ok but this inspired me so much??? i haven't touched my paints for over 5 months and i think this is the time to get back to it and fall in love with painting all over again
Thank you Minnie
I've forgotten how to work with color like this. Minnie is refreshing my memory and expanding my knowledge. I love watching her.

Spectacular paintings with such limited colors. I especially like how realistic the clouds appear. ❤️❤️❤️

it sort of feels like an old dim photograph that maybe has yellowed over time. Really interesting how it still has blue and green, or tricks the eye to think it does.
oh I just noticed the sheep in the distant field on the close up. wow
Lol I didnt see those sheep either

My mind totally filled in the green. Amazing! I like the idea of limited palettes. What a great experiment.
Gorgeous landscape! The light and shadows make it so three-dimensional, so real!
DEAR GOD! Your videos are always so perfect, aesthetically pleasing, beautiful, organized... It’s amazing how you can turn a simple 3 color challenge into an amazing video were young artists can learn!
The lighting effect feels like after a rainstorm. Very soothing.

It looks so greenish in the thumbnail😱 Never would have guessed there wasn't green used in that!
I absolutely adore this landscape painting!!
I love how your landscape turned out. It reminds me of the old paintings from the romantic period of the 1700’s (I think).
I like the way you paint. Simple yet profound. I never not walk away changed from your videos. I got my first set of gouache because of you! A true inspiration. 😌🙏
Wow amazing!!!!! I love the limited color palette!!! The painting is incredibly beautiful I really love how it came it!!!
I was in some kind of slumber and I wasn't in the mood to draw for weeks. Your video got me to leave my bed, take my sketchbook and start to draw again :)
It makes me think of old sepia tinted photographs. I like it!
OHH
Zorn Pallet is so interesting,
ever since you uploaded your last vid i just couldn't stop waiting :)
I was trying to use this pallet with gouache and kind of failed.
Now I have more inspo to try again!
That is the colour palette of Western Australia for most of the year. Lovely work! Thank you for the video.
Your videos feel like a hug to the soul. Thank you. ❤️
Love this spread. There's somthing so satisfying about the swatch shades and the watermelon I am in love with. I need to get back to painting and this kind of thing makes me miss my old self so so much xxx
wow superb. i love the amount of different color you got from those 3 colors and the painting was so relaxing to watch
Wow, this is quite lovely. Really pushes the idea of color being relative. I would love to see more like this
crazy beautiful! What a cool experiment. Looking forward to hearing about how the blue works if you try some color swaps!
love this sketchbook spread!! especially how the watermelon turned out in these muted tones! you've definitely inspired me to try this out for myself💖
This was really interesting! The sketchbook spread looks amazing

AHH! I was so excited for this video ever since your vlog! I love it, and I love the composition of the pages in your sketchbook, lovely work!
I also tried this palette a few months ago and was surprised at how versatile it was! I can totally relate to what you said about missing the blue hues, so I suggest you try doing a blue wash or a base before starting the painting, since some of if will still show up on the final painting
I love how thoughtful your sketchbooks are 🐅
This is the best sketchbook spread ever!!!
so calming and inspiring, the result was beautiful. thank you so much for sharing with us ways to explore colors, cant wait to try zorn's paletye
AH I loved the paintings you did, and I agree doing 'swatches' like this with limited colours is so hard, at least it was when I had to in school
This came out so beautiful and inspiring! Also felt very peaceful to watch so thank you for this lovely content
Damn. That landscape painting in this colour palette is incredibly beautiful. Well done.
This is so inspiring! I struggle with colors a lot, I think my main opportunity is about values.. but this is such a great idea to try out different palletes, thank you!
typical gray skies of fall in the northern hemisphere........I like the color palette
The first time I heard of the Zorn palette I was intrigued. I really love the simplicity and enjoy using it to paint watercolor roosters. Great vid; thanks for sharing your experience.
This was so satisfying and inspiring, thank you
Great job girl, I'm doing a similar thing right now, exploring new palettes and combinations. Great video
Wow! This is really inspiring. And I also find swatching colors really helpful!
Your landscape turned out SO beautiful, Minnie! Incredible job in testing out this color palette. Love all your work and your very calming and aesthetically pleasing videos

beautiful~
that watermelon slice looks so luscious even without a true green! your work is always so lovely.
was just looking forward to another painting video! gonna grab a cup of tea and curl up ☕
That landscape! ❤️ So crisp! Gorgeous colours. Love it!
this is SO cool! i also feel stuck when it comes to choosing colors, it’s so interesting how so many beautiful colors can come from mixing 5 paints!
Stunning as always! I love the videos where you put technical limits on yourself, because no matter what happens, your end result is always a beautiful work of art. ❤️
Just what I needed, thank you! Your videos always inspire me to try different things ❤️
Such a satisfying sketchbook spread. Love it. 😍
Wonderful video - thank you Minnie! This was somehow so so inspiring to me right now and I really want to take out my paints again (having only used oil pastels lately)

What a gorgeous spread! Really lovely 🧡😊
I’m completely blown away by the painting on the right can’t quite believe you achieved that stunning landscape from such a limited palette. I think it’s warped my mind that there was no green anywhere. You are a true artiste 🧑🎨
This palette looks very autumn looking like! Great challenge 😊
The limited palette reminds me a lot of Andrew Wyeth paintings. Definitely going to try this ✨
hi minnie ! love your content as always. you inspire me so much to continue being creative. I’m obsessed with your art
Yes please! More!
Gah I’d kill for a print of this spread. So gorgeous 😍
No matter how long are your videos, it’s never enough 🧡💛☺️.
I absolutely love these videos where I can learn something from her great artworks! ♥ I've always been curious about how can I set up a nice pallete, since too many colours can be quite overwhelming. Great video. ♥
oh this looks lovely! i have to try this!
Welp now to go learn about the Zorn pallete! 🤗
I love the idea as well as sketchbookspread!! Thank you for this lovely video
I think the greys that the black makes with white acts as a blue. When mixed with yellow ochre, it looks sufficiently green. I loved this experiment! I love how clearly my mind shows me the greens in your landscape and the watermelon even when there's no blue.

Watching you paint makes me want to pick up a brush and experiment!!!
Just wonderful.
Recently I have started doing Zorn Palette using gouache. It actually works well for value studies and sketches I have done.
I really do like that one! The clours of your choosing is really good I am thinking I may try something like that as well! Plus I really do love making swatches like that ! Amazing painting as well!
I love when she uploads 🥺🥺🥺
I could live on this sketchbook spread
its looks like an interesting palette to try out. this whole palette video has got me looking into other artists palettes, lots of info to digest lol
Nice! Also a blue-er black might be fun :)

I'll try to so a painting with these colors, I never imagined we could do so many colors with these ones 😃😃😃
I think what you painted from that super limited pallette was gorgeous. Interested to see how you adjust this to work better for your art.
such a cool idea! beautiful sketches!!!
