- Have you ever paid attention to canned seafood you buy in the grocery store? Almost all of it is a product of China or somewhere outside the United States. Why buy seafood from China when we have access to plenty of American Seafood all around us!? Well that's what I am trying in this video canned smoked oysters and canned smoked King (Chinook) Salmon! Are they any good? Watch and see!

buying canned seafood ? never, if it's not fresh from this morning, it's a sanitary danger. oysters are meant to be eaten fresh, not from a can like spaggetios or other shitty food.
I like canned king oscar smoked sardines in olive oil . It used to be one of my favorite foods as a kid. I remember i used to eat them with lemon and pita bread and still do.
Thank you John for sending in the canned fish
Just curious was there a website anywhere on the back of the can just curious if so if you don't get into trouble can you post it in the comments
@@MrImperiallover www.chucksseafood.com/
One hors d'oeuvre that I have always loved is a smoked oyster, green olive with a pimento, and a chunk of sharp cheddar cheese all skewered on a tooth pick. I could eat a tray of them with no help.
That sounds damn good
Man, I love this guy. Such a good content creator, honest, and full of charisma. Keep it up Wolfepit. I share your stuff all the time. Make that money!
I never expected you to look like a mini Ron Pearlman

I love eating oysters straight from the can but my favorite recipe is to take Can oysters and put them on top of angel hair pasta with alfredo sauce and maybe do up a little bit of white fish on side with salt pepper and little bit of garlic powder or fresh minced makes for one hell of a seafood dinner
you just made me really hungry
moister than an oyster right now
We need a clean up on aisle.......
No!
I used to say this to my wife cause she hates the word moist and I love oysters and just said it one day, I'm glad to see it randomly lol

Since you mentioned the USA based companies and how you support them-I think you should put links to them in your description-IMHO.
You're right, thanks!
@@TheWolfePit we appreciate the link for the products!
www.chucksseafood.com/. They will make any package you want. Sometimes, they run out of oysters.
@OrangeManBad By putting the websites up of these businesses on his YT channel more people will be able to order/buy from them, including myself, DUMBASS.
Yeah buddy! So i can order some lol
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES AROUND ME. THESE FOLKS ARE HARD WORKING AND THERE IS A LOT OF OYSTER INDUSTRY WHERE I LIVE. ITS SO COOL YOU GAVE A SHOUTOUT TO WHERE I LIVE. AHHHH
I live in Poulsbo which was once the oyster capitol of the world(I think?). We still do a lot of pickled herring and lutefisk here, due to our Norwegian roots!
I am a Chinese over here in Penang and I can say some of the canned stuff from China can be really nasty.
O I think America tops the scales for nasty processed canned BS lol
@OrangeManBad really have you not watched very many of thewolfpits videos? America honestly makes and sells some scary processed bullcrap so please tell me how I'm wrong? China and many other countries make awesome street food everywhere made with fresh ingredients for cheap. America's makes sure they charge us out the ass for fresh 100% organic food which we should be eating anyway instead of buying some pre made 50 ingredient bullshit so ur wrong and blind.
@OrangeManBad what's wrong with you? Hiding behind a keyboard doesn't qualify as an excuse to be so horrible to people. Learn some manners.
@OrangeManBad Haha oh honey. Please tell me where I said I was offended? Lmao. Trying to make like you had an effect of me is sad. I told you to be a decent human being. You seem incapable, I don't care though so whatever. Thanks for the laugh 😂😊😊😊
No offends, just jangan la kalau makan dari china.. gadget ok.. food nah
Oh man canned seafood, today you went above and beyond, for us the viewers. Hero.
Canned salmon cakes sound intresting. Please make them
Mmmmm. My fav as a kid. Fried in cast iron with lard. Nice crispy salmon Patty. Give me that pinto beans some stewed taters green onions and a mater with some cornbread and I'm happy as a pig in mud. Mmmmm.
Damn hank
rusty shakleford no you
I grew up with them, too. My mom usually used canned mackerel because it was cheaper. Either way, they’re good.
Interesting ? They’re delicious what have you been eating all your life ?!! 😱
Thats correct. Im starting to purchase from our USA.
Puget Sound oysters are great. We get to enjoy them fresh and uncooked on the half shell up here.
Those are the biggest canned oysters i've seen in decades. The last can I bought was a product of china, from the dollar store and had about 30 oysters in the can....each one about the literal size of an eraser on a pencil
What you have there is more than worth the additional price
Those sound more like coquils as we call them here. Not oysters
Sure you didnt buy mussels?
I think buying food from the Dollar Store was your first mistake. Regular old Chinese oysters from an average grocery store aren’t as good as American, but they’re still fine.
Matthew Pham and Chinese oysters are a great source of heavy metals.
@@evilspacemonkeyman Who knows what else - toxins, natural and man-made, bacteria, radioactivity? All are possible and you know China doesn't give a shit.
I love oysters, my grandmother and i ate em every time i went to her trailer in the country. Fry them in corn meal or even just eat them outta the can and one time we brought some when we went fishing and cooked them on a open fire in a skillet along the river. Everytime i look at the cans and smell the Smokey smell, it brings back all those memories
Hey dude, I've been subscribed for only a short time. But I thoroughly enjoy each and everyone of your videos. Thank you.
I love your videos so much!!!!
EDIT: thanks for the heart ❤️
Salmon patties were one of my all-time childhood favorites I still make them time to time! Thanks for the Memories!

Since I was 14 I haven't eaten canned tuna. When you catch and eat fresh you will never like canned tuna again.

I like both. 🙃
Yes to those salmon cakes! My dad makes them! He had them when he was a kid too
I don't how or why I'm here, but I'm glad I am. This seems like a funny and sweet channel although I don't think I'll change my grocery shopping habits by much from it.

Ive been vegetarian for 4 years but I enjoy these types of videoes. not all of us are judgemental 😊
I love to watch your videos on my breaks at work, always makes my day!
Welp... as an Asian, we are also sceptic with foodproducts from China. The quality control was poor after the initiation of economic growth an capitalism in late 90's... ironically
OrangeManBad
It has quite a bit to do with capitalism, obeying regulations is expensive and reduces profit, so the Chinese don’t pay their child slaves and skirt around safety. This is similar to what happened in the 20s, where sausages were barely half meat.
GLAD SOMEONE DID THIS! I'LL LOOK FOR THESE PRODUCTS
Not a fan of oysters, but I'd have no problem with the tuna or salmon.
My buddy was a salmon/ Tuna fisherman for the last years of his life so it's cool to see you support those type of people
The music in your intro is what plays when you beat all the other CZcams food commentary channels and then you face the final boss
I'm from the PNW and we eat a lot of salmon up here, but hands down alder smoked salmon is my favorite. Everyone has a different technique for preparation, and while some are better than others, they're all bomb af!
I placed many orders from the Ekone oyster company since your video on them. They are really good! Thanks!
Oh yes please .. salmon cakes .. now I'm drooling
Your commentary is the BEST!
Hope you are well Larry. Thanks for another great video!
I didn’t know Ron Perlman was entertaining us this entire time!
Why do I love these videos so much
I'm not a fan of raw oysters but smoked ones are like, super delicious. Smoking makes almost all seafood taste better.
smoked canned oysters on saltines or ritz are the best. but right out of the can with a toothpick is fine too.
also whenever someone says they don't like salmon, I find they've rarely if ever have had fresh caught, never frozen salmon. butter, lemon, garlic, and dill on a half filet.... mmmm
Looks great, wish stores would stock better brands.
Try organic food stores and markets. They often have these higher quality products. Like he said, it might cost more, but you're getting a better product in return! And there's the added advantage of a large selection of local food as well.
@@wolfy1987 if only the rural south had those
I know what fresh, smoked oysters should look like. And, being from a can that looks excellent! I don't care for oysters but I would try that. The salmon also is looking better than anything I can find at the store.Great job Larry, and thank's for the picture of the man that is
Wolfepit!RR
Thanks for the video, you can tell the better quality. I'm probably gonna order some.
Well done! I'm 73 years old and remember when all we had were American sardines and oysters. Holmes brand packed in oil a product of Maine was infinitely superior to the average sardines sold today. I didn't get into smoked oysters until the 70's. But here's something most people today don't realize, quality American sardines and oysters were never really cheap (not like cheap Chinese stuff). In 1965 I paid 49 cents for a can of Holmes sardines. That's the equivalent of $4.04 a can today! But I can tell from experience, you can't buy sardines today for $4 that match those canned in the US back in the 60's. As I recall, in the 70's I paid about $1.50 for a can of smoked oysters. That would be the equivalent of about $10 per can today. Thanks for the tip about the source for real food. P.S., do you know of any sardine canneries in the US today?
According to this article the last Sardine Cannery in the U.S. closed in 2016. newengland.com/today/travel/maine/stinson-sardine-last-sardine-cannery/
If you like canned tuna from the U.S. I'd recommend trying americantuna.com/. It's pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.
I take cans of smoked oysters with me on my mountain hikes. They are amazing.
Is there a benefit to eating oysters during your hike? Interested
@@yummy.crayon Yeah. It's food.
I Try to Buy Products from Canada and The USA First before anywhere else. ! Those Oysters look Delicious. 1st to watch the whole Video !
I agree. I try to buy local but there's things that are simply better in Canada.
@TheTruth Hurts You have no clue what your talking about.. TPB is legend
Here I am, watching this at 6:00am. (I know, I have no life.) I almost couldn't make it through the oyster part. All I had to eat at home was PB&J, here I'm watching this dude eating smoked oysters (drool, drool). This video just SCREAMS "ice cold beer"! (And maybe a few drops of Frank's...)
Thumbs up!
Thanks for the nice review Larry. That company is down the road a piece from me. I will have to try them out. I double scored from this video.
That salmon looked incredible.
Great video and thanks for the photo of you. You're a great CZcamsr!
I agree. Oysters are delicious. You can taste the entire ocean in one oyster.
Nice! I’ll add these to my smoked oyster obsession! Thank you as always!
Canned salmon at Costco- 8 cans for about 12 bucks. Use instead of tuna for tuna salad. Great mild taste
My ex wife's gma would puree a few smoked oysters out of a jar and add to her thanksgiving dressing recipe. Best I've ever had. Keep on rocking Larry!
I love smoked oysters! I had no idea you could get American ones, I will definitely be looking for these. I love them on toasted pumpernickel bread with a light smear of garlic aioli
Checked availability via Amazon. US sourced oysters are four times the price of Chinese/Korean oysters. Not sustainable on a limited income.
I'd LOVE to see you do a vid on Salmon Cakes Wolfe! Great video as usual my friend! I hope everything's going well with you and your family! TC and TFS!😉👍
I love oysters especially with lemon/lime and tapatio
For the people!!
As an Alaskan, thanks for supporting our small local businesses. The fishermen I've met here are amazing people and the food we produce is super good.
We're from Chicago. My mom made Salmon Pan Cakes as a kid!!! Great memory!
Love all the above , but I'll stick to eating my salmon raw sushi style.and same with oysters as oysters are cheap and plentiful where I live I used to actually raise them... Great videos though
Would love to see your canned salmon cakes or salmon patties

I think our local supermarket doesn't carried this brand. I would love to try it.
i live an hour away from chucks seafood they are one of the best place on the Oregon coast to buy fresh seafood in my opinion if you like oysters they make awesome oysters sticks (think pepperoni stick casing stuffed with ground up smoked oysters )
Good for you Mr. Wolf Pit! Great to watch you work your way through what are eating!

Thumbs up for the salmon cakes! Love your videos!
Your hands look much better than what the did like a year ago. Nice !

Good idea I'm going to actually do it next time I go see a movie!!
My Grandmother called them salmon croquettes and we have a local restaurant here is SC that has them on the menu. So yes make em and also try some salmon and grits, another thing my Grandmother made.
Canned salmon cakes are awesome! I'd love to see your take on it! 😁 Great video.
U are very brave to try all these different kinds of food for us the people
LOL, I lived up the street from Chucks for almost 3 years........Charleston is a small port town at the southern mouth of Coos Bay
I eat Smoked oysters straight out of the can with lemon juice and Tabasco sauce put on top.
Eat em with a tooth pick. Yummo!
Thank you.
Looks darn tasty! Went to Dollar Tree last week with my daughter. She's twenty something. Shopping around I asked her why there are no prices on the stuff. This is dollar tree! It's all a buck. Let's check out the food section. Oh that makes sense. No that's ok I'll show you on utube later. 😆
The ekone habanero oysters are the best smoked oysters I've ever had. I live in Washington and have harvested fresh oysters off the beach. Amazing
I agree, I love that they have great flavor and spice without being to spicy to enjoy! Thanks for watching!
The best looking smoked oysters I have ever seen... Amazon, here I come!! (Thanks, Chuck's!)
Awesome video bud. Cheers from Canada.
Thanks for sharing Larry!
If you want cheap store brand oysters that are not made in China, Kroger brand is made in S. Korea and it's definitely an improvement over Geisha for a lower cost.
I'd like to try these as I usually really like ANYTHING smoked, but I don't think I've ever seen them here in the UK. I've noticed that a lot of our canned fish products come from distant shores, usually far eastern as well.
It seems odd because we have a quite large fishing trade in the UK, being an island and all.
That salmon looked a bit different than we get in the UK as well. Ours is usually a cross section from the tail end, and comes with the bones and skin in as well. Your Chinook Salmon looked a bit more appetising, but it looks like it takes much more preparation to make as well. I would guess yours was more expensive, but there was far less in the can than there usually is in a British brand.
I used to be a chef until I stopped due to illness, so I find your videos really interesting. I wish I could become a patron or something, but as you can guess, welfare in the UK isn't exactly a great income at the moment. If you are interested, I'd like to maybe send you some of our 'dollar store' type items to see what you think of them though? You have tried some of the things we get here ( the breakfast in a can you tried is on sale in the UK ) but there are some things you may be interested in.
Keep up the good work! We - The People! appreciate it! 👍😃
I live in Florida USA, where we are known for having lots of seafood here, same in my home state Massachusetts

I love smoked oyster really all oysters. Thanks for telling us about this.
Showin that American pride! Good Job, The Wolfe Pit.
I love smoked oysters and salmon. My salmon is low from Norway that I get at aldi. The oysters are either from Walmart or dollar tree as I am the only one that eats them so I go the cheap way. I have tried oysters in stew home made and from a can and even though I like the flavor something in it makes me gag every time. I don't have the same problem with clam chowder. So I don't bother getting raw or canned oysters. Besides they are not as readily available in my area except at Christmas. Salmon on the other hand I could eat several times a week. I just recently started watching your program its been helpful, and I really enjoy it.
I tried this with salmon. I usually get the bumblebee brand which is from Thailand. I went to Walmart and searched for some caught in the states. Only one was demings red sockeye salmon from Alaska. I buy a can of bumblebee every time I get groceries. It doesn't compare to the demings at all. Its 1000% better. Almost 3x the cost but I'm sold. No more bumblebee
I buy Brunswick Herring fillets all the time. Canadian farmed and packaged baby! :D
