I love that it’s never questioned that he swims for 4 hours. Now I’m no swimmer but 4 hours seems like an unbelievable amount of time.
It is a long time but people can do it! In the Netherlands there's this olympic swimmer, Maarten van der Weijden, who swims the canals between towns nearly uninterrupted (For 200km!) eating and drinking while swimming for several days in a row. He even naps in the water for rest haha. Humans are awesome

I've spent a whole afternoon in a pool.

The day I spent on the pool I did so clinging to the side.
Every part in my body was in pain and I couldn't barely move, let alone find a position to sleep.

I wouldn't even swim in most rivers without the appropriate protective equipment unless it's been chlorinated or filtered. Brain eating amoeba is an actual thing and it's incredibly deadly even if the river it's self looks relatively clear.
