He was like 21-22 when illmatic came out but some of his rhymes may have been written at 19

Great video/channel…this song’s a classic, and Illmatic is my favorite hip hop/rap album of all time, and definitely in my top 5 favorite albums(regardless of genre. Please check out “Memory Lane” off the same album. He mentions some of those old kingpins that you mentioned. The 2nd verse in particular is one of the greatest verses of all time, imo.
