what a load of balls. someone please tell this person a Ferret never had a clutch, it has fluid flywheel and a Gear Change Pedal. A GCP. that you press and release to change gear. Gears are pre selected . all drivers should also know as part of the maintenance everyday the GCP should be pumped 20 times in each gear to adjust the gearbox brake bands to prevent slipping.
Thanks. I'll make a note of that. Hopefully we can get someone with as awesome people skills and technical knowledge as you have to educate us further. No kidding, the owner bought it because he has a LOT of time being shuttled around in and firing from one, but never driving one. Self taught. Passing on what he understood. Terminology was not correct. But resulted in a few hours of fun driving and learning. When he said that he bought a Ferret... I thought that he meant a new pet. I am a neophyte. I have been contacted by some fantastic Ferret and Fox owners who have been a tremendous help. New friends now with a group of Ferret owners. My apologies if this video made you cringe.
The guy ‘instructing’ doesn’t have a clue!!!!,...-there is no clutch or clutch pedal, it’s a gear change pedal, he says his ‘2nd gear is not working right now’...-probably due to him trying to use the GCP in the same manner as a clutch, ...-a sure fire way to ruin the gears
@@pbrobotspbrobots1710 good piece of kit, but frankly I was always glad to run a spare spartan if I could. It wasn't usually an issue. Living out of a ferret was always a bit of a challenge. The tracked camping car was a much more civilised option.
He was winding me up every time he said clutch.....if your gonna teach you should know your subject material...its a gear select pedal for a positive pre select gearbox. The same system as used on the Saladin and Saracen.
@@mozki1 Yup..I had a Saracen, same deal. Use all the gears forward or reverse. Reversing was fun but the back doors had better be open! Ex South African Army
Totally agree, and Fox, epicyclic gear box, the gear change pedal changes the sequence of holding binders when the pre select gear has been selected.@@mozki1
Prior to starting, select 1st gear and kick the gear change pedal 7 or 8 times, Do that with each gear in turn. The action tightens the adjustable belts. Then start it up.
Superb company car, I enjoyed mine immensely, many moons ago. Not that I drove it often.
Pre-select gear box - not a clutch a GCP Gear change pedal.
I drive a ferret in portuguese army
Very informative

Exactly lol. Yanks
What regiment?
Sounds like it has a diesel engine fitted?
From what I see the failure to do the GCP ritual prior to starting is the biggest fault with new owners.

if I remember right it's a pre-select gearbox, not the best vehicle I drove but had a bit of fun in it driving all over Germany.

“First or reverse when first ,first you have to put it into first” I’m confused
Diesel engine?
Couldn't get the insturer
It doesn't have 2nd gear?? If you keep starting it without tightening the adjustable belts you soon may not have any gears at all.
