NEW/OLD Smoke Alarms I Acquired!

- Here are some of the old smoke alarms I replaced from homes with the American Red Cross. The ones I test in the video I am keeping for my collection. As for all of the others, I am sending them to a friend who is interested in fire/life safety for his birthday.
For those who are wondering, yes, I did get permission from the homeowners of the previous home they were installed in to keep these own units.

I have an Edwards S-125A vacuum tube type smoke detector in my home. It is 57 years young and I'll thank you for keeping your hands off of it!!! I'll blow some pot smoke over it to show you how well it works anytime!

I had a Sears just like the last one, model 246.57046, but I gave it to a friend. They also made a version just like it without the heat sensor which was model 246.57045. Both are rebranded First Alert SA76RS detectors.
Awesome! I have a First Alert SA304CN3 and the SA303. I also have a Family Gard 83R. That last smoke alarm sounds like a Wheelock MT.

My grand parents have the old Family Gard and his old of 40 years and it is working correctly
What did you replace the old units with? What kind do hardwired units did you guys use
I have a couple of those FirstAlert SA67B’s. They work pretty good
My house used to have these in every room. I still have a few.
My uncles house has one of the rarest discontinued smoke alarms it’s the dicon 330l
5:13 That's my grandma's old smoke detector, until she moveed somewhere else with MORE modern tech. But still the alarms in where she moved where still pretty old. Problably from 1986...

I just found a random Firex G-6 in the house we are renovating, I have no idea if it's remotely rare, I just know it's from 1999 so its 18 years old. It was the only one in the house. It wasn't even in a good location.
My house has the First Alert 9120B and there good they’ve only gone off once when my mom was blow drying her hair RIGHT under the alarm but there good.
So do you just throw away the old smoke alarms as they shouldn't be used, or is there a different use we can use?

We have 2 of those alarms in my family’s house at the moment. We originally had three but one malfunctioned and got replaced by (I think) a Kidde smoke alarm.

That sears smoke alarm has the capability to wirelessly connect to sear's Remote Signaling Device (RSD) I just found the remote signaling device at a thrift shop for $1.00 and I got it.

My old house smoke alarm was manufactured in 2003 and it worked just fine.
My other aunt has one of the alarms on both sides (the double speaker one) My grandpa has the 86rac in rooms (and garage)
The master guard is like the gentex one with the light the one that looks like a fire alar
In my house I have a smoke alarm with a light and it is not loud at all I need to replace is soon
4:10 that was made in 1976 and uses a BRK circuit board. Most of those sears alarms with heat trigger use Fyrnetics circuit boards.

Wheelock MTs do continuous.
Wheelock MT's do continuous (horn), not continuous (530 hertz, hertz might not be accurate)

So you are so wondering what to do with the old smoke alarms. Photoelectric ones you need to dispose of, you can just throw those away. For Ionization, here is Colorado you are allowed to just throw them away. But with you being in Washington, check with your local EPA and they will tell you if you can just throw them away, or if you have to recycle then through a company that recycles ionization smoke alarms.

It’s kinda sad to think that there are probably loads of cool vintage alarms that get tossed out from this job. I want to do this job so I can have all the alarms from it, and help the people around me. They’re kinda clueless with smoke alarms, and don’t even know how to test them.

I figured out that photoelectric smoke alarms do not have to be replaced because there senors dont go bad unless the light burns out
ryan 1 that’s not true the light is not the only part of the alarm what about the test button batteries and...,don’t forget the horn and there is also a timer in the alarm that in some alarms disable it’s capability’s after 10 years!

Man you need to come to my house my parents are refusing to put a smoke alarm in my room so my room is not up to code and I’ve told them about it and I’ve just procrastinated and procrastinated and procrastinated they never do it I want to have a house that’s up to code but of course my parents don’t want to have a house it’s up to code they just want to be lazy I guess
