  • Learning has shifted to distance learning or hybrid learning in most school districts. If you’re a teacher or parent, you might be wondering how can you best support your student in navigating their new classroom learning environment, whether they are in elementary, middle, or high school.
    Megan & Gabby share tips that you can use to navigate distance learning / remote learning / virtual learning, hybrid learning, blended learning, in-person learning, and all other types of learning with your students this fall.

    00:00-00:21 - Introduction of the “connection, clarity, and content” pyramid for students, guardians, and teachers
    01:21 - 01:49 - How to create connections with parents and guardians of your elementary, middle, or high school students. Set up conferencing or small meetings with parents to share information and resources.
    01:49 - 2:10 - Create 1:1 conferences or breakout rooms on Zoom. Consider using Video Ask to ask your virtual students questions and get video, audio, or text replies.
    2:10 - 02:27 - Model self-care. Encourage students to take some time away from the computer if they need it.
    02:27 -02:45 - Intentionally clarify what you’re asking students and families to do. This is a direct way to share with parents how they can support their students.
    02:45 -03:00 - Be consistent and clear in your communication and identify how parents want to communicate with you and be communicated with - email, text, video, or other.
    03:00 - 03:25 - Communicate all information and guidance three times, three different ways so students and parents can retain it.
    03:25 - 04:15 - Provide extra support on content knowledge to families; provide support to families through video resources or office hours.
    04:15 - 05:24 - Parents or guardians can also support their students by asking them to teach them what they are most excited about learning, or asking their students to apply their learning through real-life applications
