For me the only PK games that matter are:
Painkiller (2004)
Painkiller: Battle out of Hell (2004)
Painkiller: Overdose (2007)
Painkiller: Hell & Damnation (2012)
All others suck
For people who want's something close to Painkiller, they should try Necrovision and Necrovision: Lost Company.
The heavy industrial metal soundtracks on the first game were pure gold and worked together with the shooting so well. I usually started killing enemies on the kicks of the drums. i fucking love painkiller.
basically you played the game just like BPM is made :D i love painkiller too much so i relate to this comment on a spiritual level, trying right now again to pass it on Trauma diff after many years of not playing it ;D
The original was a defining game of my childhood and I regularly listen to the soundtrack to this day any time.
A few days ago I revisited Black Edition to play some levels and it did help a little since I've been doing quite poorly mentally in the last few months.
The amount of creativity that went into that game is insane to think about. All maps are unique with their own monster lineup and there are ones that even only show up once, and all maps have a full and unique battle song. This whole game is just engraved into my brain like no other game ever was.
Overdose was okay... :D Never played the others.

What really made difference is a pain engine, what was on level of cryengine for those times. I was playing that game on nvidia mx card without 3d acceleration, 0 lags. Definitely this game deserve to be on same shelf with games like warcraft, doom, gta as it was innovation in shooter games.

Played first one long ago. Just got the Collection. I like your videos.
Starting off on Painkiller in my childhood was really what helped me improve as a player in FPS games.
Then moving on to CSGO, as everyone does.
I got all 6 games on steam holoween sale and I couldn't be happier. Huge fan of the first game that I played alot in my middle school years and can't believe they made alot of games. For this series enjoying overdose cant wait to play the other ones
Really good review man, cant beat that original although i would like to believe that upcoming Witchfire will be close to original painkiller.. kinda lost hope on that game as it went quiet for a while but with fresh news (week old) that its still being developed with new collaboration from other game studio. Fingers crossed

I still can't get enough of this game. I mean, I don't even play anymore, but I still have fond memories of playing the original in elementary school 20 years ago. The soundtrack is amazing, the story is a bit goofy but loveable, the levels, enemies and the weapons are just top notch and the whole mood/atmosphere of the game is unparalleled. I am so sad we did not get to see the real end of Daniel's story; it would have been so great to have one final game to close the whole story. One last game with brand new levels, not rehashed stuff.
I know it will never happen now that People Can Fly is over.
And I can't really find any game that is close enough to Painkiller. I mean, Serious Sam is great, Doom is awesome, there are some similar titles, but nothing like Painkiller.

Overdose and damnation deserve more credit. They bring alot more than just reskins or ripped assets from the original. Yes the original will be #1 but overdose brings a variety of weapons. And even new bosses/ ENTIRELY new levels. Damnation has a original story that swerves away from the original. And the graphics were really not bad at the time lol. But this video was neatly made and i hope u continue lol
I agree with you, overdose is really good, but damnation solely relies on dlcs if you want to fully experience this 'remastered' game.
And the dlcs, they aint worth it, better get them on sale or you are just wasting money. Even if you buy all these dlcs, theres still some stuff missing, so yeah.
If the games are on sale, play damnation, but if not, well, theres no point.
Overdose has best most detailed levels most enemies, custom death animations and most weapons. It's the best one bar none. Anyone who says otherwise is smoking crack

My father has a bit of a bad eyesight and this game was one of the games he could truly play (the original one). We also like metal so this game was a perfect fit :)
Played all and definitely the original one is the best experience and the others ones may be better in graphics, but the levels, music, characters, enemies, all were the best in the first one and I hope they make a good continuation by People Can Fly guys, with more story and characters and new weapons and some new metal music

Seeing the gameplay in the background, there's something I've noticed... It's that you're playing the game normally.
The original is obviously the best overall for that banging soundtrack, I just personally think that in terms of variety, the original game wasn't the best. Battle out of hell gave the original game the variety of enemies and locations that I craved.

With all these DLCs (levels, mods, tarot cards, multiplayer options,...) Hell & Damnation is better than Battle out of Hell. But the first game is still by far the best.
I had only played Hell and Damnation. I thought it was a very repetitive and mildly glitchy showcase of the unreal engine 3. Didn´t suspect it was the 3rd best of the series, it gets very boring even with all that mindless violence and cool weapons.

7th. He wrote Resurrection Twice 8th and 7th thats why, but Redemption is 7th on the list

Redemption is way worse than resurrection. In case you didnt notice, apart of adding zero to the series because all resources came from the original games, the levels are actually the multiplayer levels of painkiller. Resurrection has some good level designs at times but the checkpoints are glitchy and sometimes doors wont even open. They are both at the bottom of the barrel but at least Resurrection makes an attempt to add things (although broken). And hell and damnation is atrocious and a cashgrabber. Slightly above Resurrection and redemption. The environmental damage and destruction IS GONE. Even the colosseum has lost its traps. Very crappy
If you ask me Painkiller is the most depressive video game series of all time. Just one good game (expansions don't count)
