United’s era came to an end over a decade ago. The problem is media outlets like ESPN FC keep trying to pump up United even though they haven’t been an elite club for over 10 years.
Ten hag during his first season in charge of United : won Manchester United's first trophy since 2019, took United to the finals of the 2 local cups, finished on the Premier League podium, eliminated Barça (while United was on a black streak against Barça), went on an unbeaten run of 26 games and broke a 110-year-old record by winning his first 50 games in charge of United after 79 games. He deserves more respect and more time. It's only his 2nd season and he already did a great job. The problem with this club goes deeper than the coach.

I would say Newcastle have regressed from last season. I would always say that last season was an enormous over performance. Eddie Howe was building a squad to perhaps get the Europa League, but the failings of Liverpool and Chelsea allowed them to get into the top four. This put them into a level above where they were should be They regressed back to their actual level

Ten Hag is not the biggest problem but when any manager spends so much and none of his transfers work out (Martinez aside) there is no hiding place. Mount, Onana, Evans, Hojlund, Antony, Amrabat, Eriksen, Weghorst, Sabitzer have not worked out, Casemiro in context of the fee for 1 good year has not been a smart transfer. Malacia, Reguilon? Jury is still out. Why was Fred, an effective player last season, sold before McTominay, Van De Beek, Martial and Maguire? Whichever way you cut it the recruitment above Ten Hag and Ten Hag's talent identification have failed and failed miserably. The manager cannot say he hasn't been backed financially, in reality he's been indulged too many targets. If Ineos are smart they will probably evaluate the rest of the season and take a decision in the summer. There is no point in changing manager now, Man United's season ended in November. Ten Hag needs to prove that he can coach football players again, there is an alarming lack of playing style in each performance. Carabao cup aside, he's only managed to tick one box that may save him till May; putting through young talent; Mainoo and Garnacho will be part of a successfull Man United future, they are the first names on the team sheet.

Say what you will but the Serbian youngster Petrovic has been very good for Chelsea once he got his chance. If I was manager I'd keep starting George (Djordje) even after Sanchez (unless he puts out a bad stinker) comes back cause Petrovic might just simply be a better goalkeeper that gives your team a chance to stay in every game.
He was at fault for the second Luton goal, should've palmed it wide away from goal but instead it went back to a very dangerous area in which Thiago Silva couldn't anticipate it but before that, he made a wonderful save onto the crossbar

ESPN FC have been incessantly asking this same question since virtually the start of the season. With all due respect to ESPN FC, they are very out of touch with United right now. United have absolutely no plans to sack Ten Hag. He is going to be the United coach at the end of the season no matter how much ESPN FC keep trying to push the Ten Hag Out agenda.

It’s already been widely reported that the new ownership backs him and they want to work with him long term. The new ownership wants to overhaul the squad with Ten Hag leading the team. ESPN FC don’t go into that type of deep dive coverage but that’s the on the ground reality in Manchester. He’s not going anywhere.

United aren’t terrible. The EPL is just much better from top to bottom than from the Sir Alex days. That’s the reality that virtually nobody talks about when talking about United. Their past dominance is not comparable to what the EPL was then and what it is now.

Dumb people like some of the ESPN pundits won't recognize that. EtH deserves at least three seasons with the club. The entire club is due for an overhaul from top to bottom. No clue what will happen with SJR and INEOS in the picture, but I expect more of the same for the next several months. The best EtH can do is hope Casemiro, Martinez, Malacia, and others get back in late January to help salvage some of the final 14 or 15 games.
