- Indian Air Force’s first woman SU-30 weapon System Operator Flight Lieutenant Tejaswi Ranga Rao who is posted at Tezpur Airbase on September 27 said that they are ready to tackle any adversaries.
Speaking to ANI, she said, “There've been brilliant women before who broke glass ceiling and paved the way for us to achieve our dreams...our pilots in eastern sector are ready to respond to any eventuality.”

Girls born in India should be proud of as this country giving opportunities for girls to fulfill their dreams may it be a fighter or civilians pilots, and there is one nation called Afghanistan under Taliban where women are not allowed to go to schools after 6th standard and can't do job.

I am happy that Indian Air force is taking women but truly when you read comments you sense that it will take lot to show people they are worth it but I am sure they will prove it. I am happy that defence forces gave them chance & happy that they choose to ignore those who discouraged. & must say it's not just about woman I noticed even our new respected CDS received lots of discouragement too so some people just keep commenting negative we must choose to ignore them. Please do find a way and contact me. Also, I think that sir should also have been interviewed because I would like to become a male fighter pilot and not a female fighter pilot. And you can give me a test flight. I won't disappoint you at all. I will try my best and do it for my country. I have played many video games also. I get killed mostly, but I am improving.
Anyhow, credit goes to us because our air force is comparatively smaller than iaf, but still can hold it, and our pilots have capabilities to give a killing punch to our adversary.

Coming from Assam and been transiting many times from Tezpur airbase as a civilian when Tezpur civilian airport was just an tin shed relic from WW2 when it was along with Misamari very important WW2 airbase for American .It was used by the United States Army Air Forces Tenth Air Force as a B-24 Liberator heavy bomber base by the 7th Bombardment Group. After the war, it was converted into an air force base in 1959. The strategic location of the base has contributed to its importance. A variety of aircraft have operated from this location including de Havilland Vampire, Dassault Ouragan and MiG-21.Of course 1962 war when the Chinese came within striking distance of Tezpur having outrun Tawan and Bombdila and reached the foothills of the Himalayas .
Nice to see the upgrades in the hangars to accommodate the SU -30MKI but hope the old murals by the GI American forces in the old hangars are kept .Control tower structure still the same old structure think from the 60's only maybe the electronic communications .
Women fighter pilots its been proven to have higher tolerances to g forces compared men and make very good frontline fighter pilots in many parts of the world ,India is very slow in inducting them as fighter pilots not system operators or navigation role .
Lastly why do you have the awful music when the sound of a fighter engine at full take off thrust is pure bliss

Good for photo op. IAF Eastern sector chief said they get same training as male officers and sometimes they do equal to men. Why not go for only male officers who are always better ? Officers and soldiers who are the best to destroy the enemy should be selected and not for being woman. Enemy will be ruthless and will never see whether you are a woman. Armed forces are not the places to show gender equality or break glass ceiling.

Abe ye equality ka drama military me nahi chalta he be. Agar kisi ko bhi pucho toh wo kahega ki wo sab kar lega par jo best hai usko hi lena hoga. IAF Eastern sector chief khud bol raha hai ki ye female pilots kabhi kabhi male ke level tak hi perform kar pati ha par kabhi bhi aage nahi jati. Toh jabardasti inko lene ka kya matlab jab dushman best soldiers ke saath lad raha ho. Dono ko ek hi training diya ja raha hai. Apart from that, just imagine what would happen to a female pilot if she is caught alive by the enemy during a war like Abhinandan was caught. A male soldier will be killed or tortured but what will they do with a woman soldier, you can understand very well. She will live in a trauma and will leave a scar in her mind forever.This is exactly why Manohar Parikar didn't support the idea of women soldiers in front lines when he was Defense Minister.
