- Lifting a Broken Asphalt Paver Stuck in Gas Station - Today we are lifting a LeeBoy Asphalt Paver that was shot in the water while on a construction job. Not sure what caused the failure, but the unit was in the middle of doing the asphalt at the pumps when it took a dump. Cue the rotator and a Landoll to lift and transport this unit back to the customer's yard.
The unit itself only weighed 15,000lbs, which is light work for my 50ton rotator, HULK. Because it was small in size and due to the working area, I found it best to lift it off one side, and swing it over to the other side directly onto the Landoll. We did not want to drag this unit and tear up the brand new asphalt, and I could not drive on it (62,000lbs would destroy that plus my tires lol).
The job was quick, and ended with another satisfied customer!

First, Ron Pratt picked up a paver with his Rotator. Next thing you know, Josh does one.
I can here to say the same. As Ron's says all the time. There are many ways to count to ten. Josh has his rigging and Ron had his.
Both are great content creators. It would be great to see a collaboration of all the towing and recovery guys.

Good job Josh & Alex using Hulk & Truck 24T. What rotator truck will you normally drive when another co-worker uses Hulk?
Plus do you have your co-workers ask permission to drive Hulk since you are the one assigned to it & if you have to use a different rotator truck for any job like any of the other rotator trucks.
I brought Hulk in this but let Alex use it to film him in the beginning. On the off chance someone has to take Hulk when I'm not in, I would take Big Flipper.

I watch other rotator operators use tag lines in order to get >90% control of their load. It minimizes pendulum tendency while they rotate the boom
Surprised customer didn't want it taken to repair service but its their money. Nice job all.
Perhaps the customer was renting/leasing the unit, in which case they wouldn't be responsible for repair decisions.
Maybe be the customer has their own mechanic, so take it to their yard IS take it to repair.

Fresh asphalt story: when Disneyland opened in 1955 it was a very hot day and some of the asphalt hadn't fully hardened, and women's high heels were sinking into it.

This is what I always mean by you can't please everyone. You can hear them fine, but there are tons of people who don't have perfect hearing and request captions.
Were you surprised when that machine swung a little at the gas station?
Not really, it happens as it finds center of gravity. In hindsight Alex could have been directly over head to minimize it coming to home as he went in but it was still controlled

"LANDOLL" FOR YOU EASTCOASTERS MIDWEST COASTERS THATS A "LOWBOY". LOL
The make is literally called a Landoll. The model is 440. It's a Landoll 440. They sit at around 3' tall. A lowboy generally is a trailer that sits lower. I've seen these called Lowboys a ton, I even did and sometimes still do lol but the actual literal name is a Landoll, that's the corporation that makes them.
@@PepesTowingService 👌👌 when I worked at Freddie Macs Towing I remember transporting 2 hummers back to the Midwest on a landoll when I arrived and was about to unload a heavy wrecker driver pulled up and said that’s a cool lowboy. I was as like ok thinking to myself Landoll.
I think a lowboy is a flat, low trailer for towing tall items. the rear axle on a Landoll slides forward, allowing the bed to angle to the ground like a rollback tow truck. The Landoll has a winch, too, which the lowboy doesn't.

What did you gain by turning on the PTO
lol what? You can’t operate the controls without the PTO. If it’s turned off, you can’t move the boom or engage the cables or anything.

Ohhhhh I get it now. I meant on the Landoll. I turned the pto on the Landoll on so I can winch in the cable all the way so the paver won’t land on it
@@PepesTowingService Talking about turning on PTO now makes better sense since I also was previously confused how Hulk was part way into the lift yet you mentioned turning on PTO
