All members of Lovebites are around thirty years old. Both guitarists picked up the guitar relatively late. Midori (blond guitarist) dropped out of university where she was studying pharmacology at the age of twenty to start learning to play the guitar. Miyako (black haired guitarist) taught herself to play the guitar at around eighteen or nineteen when she was at university. She as also a concert performance level classical pianist and also plays bass and some drums and is also the mother of a young child. (She performed their last two hour concert either four or five months pregnant in high heels and didn't miss a note.) The bass player also plays guitar and drums. The drummer also plays the piano. The vocalist also plays the piano and studied classical ballet for more than decade. All members of Lovebites are insanely talented musicians at the top of their game.

Just a detail : Miyako has (understandably) flat shoes on HMND ;-). That was already a "suspicious" element :-) (as there were only rumors at that time)

One day we will see Iron Maiden and Lovebites playing together. It will be fantastic! Thank you so much for supporting Lovebites, an outstanding band, I love them!!! I see you next time!

    LOVEBITES - Holy War lyrics:
Look at those black clouds, it’s going to rain blood
People live in fear, covered in mud
Singing oh Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
There is a thousand, a thousand of evils
Hush, do not wake up Satan’s devils
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and all for one forevermore
Kingdom of Heaven, never shall we fall
    Reincarnation, wait for your call
Singing oh, Gloria to change the prophecy
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for sisters
    Morning star and dying moon
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Mighty soul, let there be hope
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
Stand up in the name of the God of heavy metal
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
    Facing the fate, holy war
Singing Hallelujah to save our majesty
    We are the metal warriors
    Fighting the darkness for brothers
    Shining blade and burning heart
Into the Gates of Hell we march
Immortal soul, let there be light
    Into the Eye of Heaven
    Eagles at a holy war
    Fly higher than the sun
We are one for all and for one forevermore
What do we live for? What do we fight for, tonight?
But the world is beautiful, worth fighting for
Only have one thing on our mind
    Facing the fate, holy war

Great reaction 🤘. You are right about the influence of Iron Maiden especially Miho the metal head and leader of the pack has been influenced heavily by Steve Harris. Like Harris she also plays the finger picking style.
Sadly she left the band in August and the band is in hiatus ever since.
Wish Miho the best in whatever she does. Lovebites will be back again with a bang and I look forward to that day . 🤘🤘🤘 🐺 🐺 🐺

You are right about the Maiden influence, but it's broader than that. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.

  • @CaffeineNightOwl
    @CaffeineNightOwl Před 2 lety +11

the ladies are determined and serious, (almost) perfectionists. their live dvds and albums were mixed and mastered at Finnvox studios helsinki by the guys who work for amorphis, cob, nightwish and so on. that could explain their excellent sound. the IM influence is there, since bassplayer and cofounder of the mand, miho, is a huge maiden and steve harris fan (I mean powermetal with fingerpicking on bass?) singer asami had never listened to metal, before she joined in 2016, she came from R&B and now reminds of bruce dichinson (me too). the guitarist with the cool face played piano since she was 3, she is now a pianist on pro concert level, picked up the guitar with 18. and they all love the good stuff: iron maiden, slayer, megadeath, pantera, testament, helloween, metallica and.. and.. you´ve noticed their musical talent. for me the most amazing thing: in approximately five years they have written around fifty songs, all on top level. not even one bad song, not even a filler. you´ve been bitten now. thank you for your reaction.

So glad you find Lovebites intriguing, what I love about these amazing ladies is the fact that not one song sounds like the other and no album resembles the other. 50+ songs and each and everyone is epic and a classic masterpiece. They have studied all the classic rock and metal bands of the past and infused everything together and created their own particular style that many of today's bands have no clue how to grasp this style. I noticed that you were blown away with Miho's tapping on her bass, I would love to introduce you to a trio of young prodigies (Hal-Ca 18, Miyo 19, and Mio 21 years old), started when they were only 13 and 15 years old, the name of the band is Asterism. I saw them back in 2019 at the SXSW music festival in Austin, Tx. They blew us all away at that time they were only 16 and 18 years old, they did release their debut EP when they were 13 and 15. Hal-Ca on guitar is a beast, Miyo on bass is amazing, Mio on drums is powerful, for the first song to check is "Dawn" czcams.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/video.html I hope you're ok with instrumental songs because it is what they are, I just subscribed because I love it when a real reactor give true attention where it belongs. FYI their ages are between the late 20s to early 30s

Absolutely!!! Miyu with his custom made 7 string bass (ESP made it solely for him at 17!!!!) is a blown out experience and Hal-Ca with that beat to sh$T Yamaha/Pacific doing the Hendrix vibe on stage. World class musicians who as High School students write, arrange and play their own infusion mix of Metal/ Hard Rock/Jazz. If you appreciate great music then these kids will blow you away!! Dawn is perfect small cub due to their ages Hal-Ca is 16 here, Miyu is 17 and Mio on drums is 20 and lack of exposure but they are a hidden gem on YT for the last 5 years!!!!

Please react to the Lovebites song "Under the Red Sky" the Live version. It's a song about the bombing of Japan in WWII. In it Madori shreds during the chorus like you cannot believe. It's probably the best crowd participation ever and at the end all of the members bow and interact with the crowd. It's amazing. You won't regret it. Thanks.

The string instruments are doing that tapping thing three times. All three times, the same. All string instruments in unison. And then the video is edited to show the three string instrument players, one at a time. So, when we see the bass we really hear the guitars. But, it looks fun with tapping on the bass there.

Looks are deceiving, yes. Seems like you like Japanese rock/metal scene a lot. I am from the Nightwish community and I would like to suggest to you another Japanese band which is a relatively new band, formed in 2019 but the band members individually is quite well-known and respectable musician especially their guitarists and the drummer. They have quite lots of international fan base despite haven't launch full-length album yet. They are not comparable to Lovebites as each have their own style but bear in mind and their heavy sounds ARE heavy since both guitarist are on 7 strings guitars and their bassist is on 5 strings. Quite a number of Nightwish Army have a soft spot for this band since their songs are quite diverse with strong melodic chorus and the vocalist... she is something else. I do love Lovebites but the vocals is somewhat turn me off, but that's just me and my preference. So if you are interested in the more heavy and unique voice in Japanese metal, do check out NEMOPHILA. They did some classic heavy metal covers of Iron Maiden, Skid Row and Helloween to name a few but their original stuffs are amazing. Their latest single released few weeks ago is called HYPNOSIS and this is a very unique track with arabic vibes + heavy metal with drum solo instead of guitar solo... check it out here czcams.com/video/k7iF1BZ36cU/video.html
...a heads up, their drummer, Mutata Tamu, is very talented and been invited by many as filling in drummer by local and international bands/events. And the guitarist, SAKI is also a member of another Japanese metal band Mary's Blood and recently teamed up with Kreator bassist for AMAHIRU project which also consists of Fear Factory drummer and Epica keyboardist. NEMOPHILA is known as super group and being introduced as Super Metal Band in their first live show debut, opened for heavy metal legends, Loudness and Hammerfall, in METAL WEEKEND 2019, Zepp Diver City, Tokyo. I will give full bio of NEMOPHILE on your first reaction. HYPNOSIS is a great start but if you opted for full trash metal straight to the point heavy sound, jump in to DISSENSION czcams.com/video/26aMuahxz8c/video.html which is their 3rd single and their first video that hits 1 million views🤘🏻.

But I'm falling deeper in this rabbit hole every day and really like MARY'S BLOOD and ALDIOUS (blew my freaking mind the drummer was Terry Bozzio's step daughter). Not into the heavier screaming of HANABIE or BROKEN BY THE SCREAM as much, but mayu's whistle-tone fry, and the way she switches it on and off it is music to my ears. Speaking of GACHARIC SPIN, did you happen catch ROLLIN' ROLLIN' from NEMOPHILA's live stream? You'll love the base on that one. Peace 🤘😁🤘
