Soul Khan I think had the round of the battle, which was the 3rd. Soul Khan to me was hella entertaining and performed better but QP’s material/writing was better in this. Its a debatable 2-1 type of battle.

Luis Antonio Santiago Broot I thought the same. But he & Avo seem like the ‘faces’ of the concept/brand. Lush One is like the rolling stone 3rd member. I like how Lush tries to give props, especially when it’s a lesser known dope battler....but I *hate* how he tries to break down a lot of (in my mind) simple lines that don’t need the “pay attention” focus of somebody calling it hot. It almost does the opposite. Illmac is cool, & his writing style lends to him having good input, but I understand how preference works, lol. They should alternate episodes & do the occasional episode together

Alright I love all 3 of these guys a lot, but thinking this battle aged differently or that this will ever be anything other than a 3-0 bodybag is straight up puzzling to me.

I think we can give QP the first round. But when they talked about this aging differently I was expecting to hear some stuff that made this a win for QP. But there is no way possible Soul Khan doesn't take the 2nd and 3rd decisively.

i miss grindtime era. it was about bodying opponents like soul did here. now it's like being an Arsonal replica and spitting random impersonal bullshit and stringing it together well. The fact that they think Qp's performance ages better, just proves how things have regressed.

Do I like the direct style of the past era, yes. But the writing nowadays is on a whole other level.
You don't even see this much creative writing in poetry or fiction nowadays. It's Shakespearean.
QP, Daylyt, and a couple other OGs led the charge during this era, and everything shifted.
But to your point, there are the Rocs, Rexs, and Suges tainting the game.
I don't want to hear a random gun bar, but if it's creative enough - if it utilizes all the tools of the written word, I'm all for it.
Rum Nitty, Twerk, JC, and Lux are spearheads for this now.

Victor Rodriguez Yeh I get how the creativity and complexity of the bars have improved. No doubt. It’s really impressive. BUT this is battle rap not a poetry slam contest. We’ve seen the sophistication of the penmanship to such a level that we’ve forgotten the purpose of battle rap - to hurt the opponent you’re facing.
When 2 battlers face off now, it’s as if they’re impressing the crowd with their poems more than actually hitting their opponent.
If There were judges from GT era judging a battle from 2019 kotd - they would score it badly because to them it would lack punch. An example of this is okwerdz vs arsonal. Okwerdz clearly bodied him but looking back on that battle through the 2019 kotd lenses - it gets judged on wordplay and arsonal looks the better battler.
I actually hope for the day of a return to freestyle battling with impromptu opponents and all the judging is based on is HURTING opponent with personal bars.

I think anyone giving QP credit for this battle is blinded by how good he usually is (especially nowadays), but his stuff here was corny and forced back then, and just as bad now. Those 'sorcerer's stone/gorgeous clone/forced to bone/close to home' and 'nerd is scary/virgin mary' bars were some of the worst shit he or any other top tier emcee has ever written. And that was just his first.
No hate, QP is a legit goat by now. But this and swave were bad showings.

These 3 weren't being honest, this was and still is a clear body, not one of the all time body gas like Frost and Fox, but in every category QP got cooked it's almost as if they hating on Khan for being the best of his era. SK had the best pen and performance by far of his time.
