This is one of the best films I've ever seen, and it's one that really got me and my girlfriend debating. I had to cut most of it out for time reasons, but that is a testament to how much conversation this film evokes!

I loved this movie! What you said after the movie about Mr. Park... No, he didn't do anything that he deserved to die for, but was he a good person? Definitely not

The part where Anna says the movie better not turn into Barbarian was hilarious! And Barbarian is a crazy and good movie for anyone who hasn't seen it!
I don't know why Americans are so hung up on the daughter's age. High school girl falling for college boy is popular theme in a lot of Hollywood movies. Clueless for example. Is it because Asians look young? Disturbing part of that relationship for Koreans is that she's his friend's girl. Not her age.
But it's a dick move tho. You know, he was jobless. His buddy offer him a job, then he snatch the girl?
Wtf? So its fine to date underage girl? like how fucked up were you to only concern about the cheating while there is an adult grooming an underage girl
Because in real life (at least in the USA), there is a lot of sexual assault and rape of underage girls by sick perverts (via stangers, neighbors and from uncles and father). Yes American society is sick and it’s part of American projection onto other parts of the world

he noticed that its just an ordinary rock that his friend got him(likely from that same river) claiming its expensive or shit hell even special and he realised he got duped even by his friend
Another crazy Korean films you want? Then there are two films that I recommend: Oldboy(2003) and The wailing(2016)

her not understanding is a cultural thing. this director directly said it is all about class struggle as it is in a lot of his films. s.korea is a stratified society where you can be as obviously clever/talented as the kim family and still get nowhere. meanwhile the rich are oblivious, living off the brow of those beneath them figuratively and literally (notice the uphill vs basement dwelling). the Park children had tutors, art lessons, a nanny/housemaid, vacations, a driver, catered birthday parties... they will go to an expensive school, then the best universities. the cycle of who has and who has not will continue. the poor who live in their sphere are grateful for the scraps and wind up fighting over them w the ones who unable to get ahead conned their way in. glaring microaggressions of mr park aren't apparent to most western people. the ending song speaks of the 500 or so years it would take for kevin buy that house. watching parasite once is full of thrills and twists that keep you in a spin, but watching through the director's sociological lens makes it quite a different experience. the parasites are just as easily the people living off a rigged system and the sweat of the poor.
