  • Bees put an extraordinary amount of work into turning nectar into honey. They visit hundreds of flowers during each nectar run and then use their own bodies to reduce the high water content. Watch how they do it...

    Omg thankyou for explain6it in simple terms,i can't wait to look into it more..but you explained it in a way I could understand,and you didn't use words I wasn't sure of..Just getting a basic picture really helps..now maybe more people will feel confident looking into it a bit more & they will be excited about helping our bugs..I believe sometimes people's confidence is knocked by talks been scientific,it can knock there confidence..so thankyou for making this video for us..
    Let's all learn & help our eco system,even if you can only plant a few flowers,bee's are having to travel further these days to there next flowers..You don't have to have any money to start off,or if you do you can help with under a fiver..I have started growing veg & I haven't got hardly any money to put in,seeds I can get for 50p upwards,pots I collect for free,the most expensive thing I have had to buy is soil/compost which cost me £3 it's gone up to £3.50 this year..we are making our own compost this year,it can take a while to do..Also you can collect seeds free,from other flowerseven if you ask people,they are usually good & usually happy to help & give advice,some even share seeds & cuttings..Look online people give stuff away..also when I'm walking my dog people throw away things & either leave them at the end of the garden or on path by road..
    There's so much you can do,my fella has made two raised planters from wood we have collected over time,wish I could share a picture..
    Right I Will leave it there,sorry to have waffled on..peace☮💜☮💜

    Hi great video one question what is the black stuff in the video it was in jars at the bee hives. I use honey every day as sugar it poison to our system i replaced sugar with honey as honey is sweeter than sugar i do not need sugar the plus is that i am fitter and healthier i am 73 and i could run any one 20 and 30 years younger i feel great have no blood sugar problems my latest reading was so low they said i never use any sweet stuff in my food every day they got shocked when i said i use honey every day in my breakfast dinner and tea well i like a cup of tea with or after my dinner lol. If every one used honey instead of refined sugar there would be no diabetes and no obesity in the world today. Just remember that 1 teaspoon of honey it equivalent to 2 teaspoon fulls of sugar

    How long does it take for an empty frame to fill up with honey?

    • @FlowHive
      @FlowHive  Před 6 lety

      You can expect to harvest about three kilos (6.5 lb) per frame (more if the bees really build each frame out). If you have six frames in your super box then you can expect to harvest at least 18 kilos (39 lbs) when every frame is full. A super usually fills well within a month during the spring and summer. This depends on the amount of nectar available for the bees and how strong the colony is. We have had Flow Supers fill in a week during peak times of the flowering season.

      bees will forage from flower to flower, collecting a little bit of nectar and pollen as they do, in turn this pollinates the flowers. They then return the nectar to the hive, and combine this to then reduce moisture content from the nectar so it becomes honey. -Kieran
