RIP Vincent Gil, the Nightrider (1939-2022) and Hugh Keays-Byrne, the Toecutter (1947-2020)
Remember them when you look up at the night sky.
Two different great Mad Max villains by the same actor. Incredible👏🏻
I actually still remember this movie and that part sometimes when I look at the night sky. I was around 11 or 12 me and my younger brother snuck into the theatre for the 7:00 pm show in Manhattan. For some reason we picked MAD MAX we were amazed at what we saw
Remember also Hugh Keays-Byrne's role in the Australian "Sons of Anarchy" film "Stone" when you look up at the night sky.
Also RIP to Steve Millichamp, Roop (1956-2013) and John Ley, Charlie (1951-2020)
I will.
This was a great movie when it came out. My brother and I snuck in the theater as kids and we were amazed at what we seen
Why was this so different from the sequel? Almost seems like a different franchise.
@@redrobotmonkey this doesnt feel the same because in the sequel its the apocalypse in the first one its before, close but not the apocalypse.
What do you mean "when it came out"? I think it's always going to be great
@@redrobotmonkeyAlso the first one was filmed to a very low budget, so it is on locations near Melbourne. Financing for later films was much easier to obtain.
Yeah me too, we snuck in to so many films, people would leave through the fire escape & we would walk in & hide in the toilets.when they got wise we found a way to jimmy the fire door.the good ol' days before surveillance cameras & alarms
Pure gold. This movie has it all.
Get me an Oscar. One of the greatest movie intros ever…
This movie more than any is probably responsible for forming my taste in cinema. I never got over this desire for certain amount of grittyness and grunge. All these modern movies feel plastic and fake to me. I can still enjoy them, but it never hits just right.
crazy to think that Gibson got the role because was involved in a brawl that put him on the production's radar
That’s actually a myth, but it would’ve been fitting for this movie
@@todpolk even a lie from Gibson himself
Always loved that couple of lines ... "rip the guts out of it !! " and "give it the bejesus!! " lol !!
"Rip the guts out of 'er!!! Give it the bejesus!!" What a psycho- I wouldn't want him driving my car. But of course the cops were going mad in this uncontrollable world.
I hated how incompetent the driver was, dude crashed when there was nothing in front of him. He could have kept going but he decided to stop for np reason which destroyed the car
Now where's the guy with the flaming guitar? 🤣
I'm a rocker, I'm a roller, I'm a right out of controller.
I saw this at a drive-in, and could not wait for civilization to collapse; and I am still waiting!
wont be long now mate
A few years, maybe 2030
You just want to sound edgy and don't want the civillization to collapse
If Trump wins, destruction of America is indeed coming.
Coming soon brother.
Beginning of a legend
This looks more real than the new mad max films which are impressive . This is more raw
RIP THE GUTS OUT OF IT!! Typical Australian talk from the 50 60 70's
Still is 😂

“Oi om tha Noightrideh!!!”
Best car opening scene ever ...
Remember him when you look at the night sky.
An awesome classic!
Thank you for the video! ☺♥☼
In the book the Nightrider was 18 or 19, and the girl was 15... awesome book, and this is still my favorite Post Apocalyptic movie...
Wow, never knew it was a book
Book? Really?
Book? Did you mean script
@@jamesdeanseternaldreams2232 The novelization.
Old School Action Classic Movie 😎👍
its 1 of a kind,,, its a legend
This is 1979.
I think MGM is tagging the year they released it in the US, it didn't hit here until 1980.
In Australia 👍🏻
Yep 1979 I remember going to the movie theatre and another great movie around that time was Rollerball and Apocalypse Now life never been the same .
@@BanzaiM50 , 2 versions of this movie , Australian version 1979 and the American Version 1980 ,
What's the difference ?
Dialog!
In the dinner the Goose said WindScreen and the American version it's WindShield ,
Yes Baby !
The Blower on Max's car is fake , it was ran by a electric motor, you can't see it in the garage because of that big yellow Funnel ,
The Blower man ! The Blower !
I think all of Toe-cutter’s dialogue was dubbed over in the US version
02:19. Never realized how fake those pipes were. Theyre literally held on by strings
Best movie ever!
1:44 ‘D-E-A-T-H’ written across Nightrider’s toes
Well spotted hawkeye.
And Toecutter has an idol of Kali, goddess of death, on his helmet.
Nice catch!
One of my favorite movie 🎥
The future is here I think
Awesomeness job
Still one of my favorite chase scenes
Perfection
The movie was made in 1979 mate.
When Roop & Charlie chuck a uturn & take off & give chase & end up coming down the dirt road & going through the gate & turning right. That is near the location that they took off from.
I drove along those roads in a rental car on my honeymoon - so much fun!
Did you lay down a rubber road to freedom?
@@user-te7wc7lh4rNaw he spooged his brines out, might!
What a movie 🎉🎉🎉
Love the Ford Falcons
Always found it funny they prioritized gas over food and water... definitely post-70s gas crisis
Magic ❤
The best ever old school v8
new movie out in theaters in May 2024 🤘
“Nice going pomni, now I have no bridge”
I saw the film several times and later had it on VHS tape.
Am i the only one who likes this better than terminator
Dental Hygiene during the Collapse of Society is very good :P
Everyone has nice bright white teeth and none missing, it is actually pretty amazing :P
10 seconds and I stopped! Gonna go watch the movie, again!😊

Mad film
He looks like russel crow.
Not a seatbelt in sight.
Just stralians living in the moment - dying of alcoholism at 30.
He just serviced his air filter.
Looks more like 2024 Arkansas State Troopers
This is my surbab street
I wish it was just on theatre screen
Have better dreams folks not Hollywood vision of your life
The Night Rider is my second favorite bad guy! Dearth Vader is number one , of course.
This movie inspired the TV series “KNIGHT RIDER.”
what the Blipp ended at the best part???
Who let Russel Crowe into the whiskey cabinet
Always kept a can of Bejesus in my console and a cassette of Bee Gees's in my glove box.
Nightrider's gf was ahead of the curve, looking like a 90's grunge girl. Always thought she was pretty.
Lulu Pinkus,.... yep, ex Mrs Yahoo Serious.
That’s my Lulu.
Terminal Psychotic a term not used enough😅.
This guy played a great main role in the movie, Gladiator 😂
Im joe I'm joe. Just ask Steve
Ну,мужуки. Похгнали! Вау вау вау.

@1:44 he's driving the car bare feet .
🤩😍❤
Back when society was normal
The nutters remind me of MAGATS
As a 40+ year old Aussie..iv never seen this movie
(стоило для такой ксплутации авто гоночные изготовлять.)
😎
Yes 1979
Prefer this. Low budget, unusual situations, dialogue.
" I am the Night - Rider ~~~" ummhumm...
1979, not 1980.
I am the nightrider!!!
And now you’re dead.
A little embarrassing for someone like MGM Studios to get the year of Mad Max wrong?
Which car has more power in real life? Holden Monaro HQ or Ford Falcon
That's like asking, "How much slower then a Charger do you want to be, a little, or a lot?"
The Monaro in this scene is a 308 V8, the Falcons are 250 non crossflow 6's. Max's black Falcon coupe is a 302. All are slower then a Charger 265 Hemi 6 four speed. The Charger is significantly lighter then all of them, between 300 to 500 kilos.
So does the society in the movie involve a complete breakdown of law and order, or is it more like “some law and little to no order”?
little to no order, near end of the world I think.
So, basically there are self governing cantonments of "society" still functioning in some regions, where industry, commerce, and some societal norms still exist. Think of towns with walls and militarized citizens. Outside of those areas is the "lawless wastes", while there still exists a loose network of law enforcers who are attempting to use what little resources they have to combat gangs and 'blood thirsty madmen' in the a worsening frontier regions.
@@johnnysunday402 Is it like The Hunger Games or Ready Player One?
This is a few months before the total collapse.
@@yerielurena1873Neither.
Nothing post apocalyptic about this movie.
I've been ruined by the American dubbed version, so their actual voices sound crazy to me
The first time I saw this was the American version, which for some reason swapped another voice for that of the Knightrider. Have to say I prefer the American version. This guy's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard
That's the idea.....
Aussie film should have Aussie accents, it's ridiculous that they dubbed it with American voices.
Vincent Gil the NIGHT RIDER!! The best!! 👍👍👍
Remember him when you look at the night sky.
Of course I’m going on shut up
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Way better than thr fake new max movies
😅😊
Just watched Furiosa and it was good. I rate 3 stars. Fury Road 4 stars and Road Warrior 4 stars.
Chris Hemsworth was possibly the best bad guy in any Mad Max movie. Ann Taylor Joy was a solid Furiosa.
The first 30 minutes of Furiosa had some annoying girl boss scenes but after that it settled down and was a solid action movie.
Really interesting, creative world as always.
its so good u came to see this instead right 😂
When Australia used to use Miles not KM 🙂
They switched to the one that makes sense
@@charlesburns7391 But does it? 60 Mph.... Change to 100kmh and that's more money to change every road sign, every car speedo to kmh and more digits, means more paint. If your an Australian Charles then look around.... Your a island, like myself, (I'm London, UK, Born and bred) and we an island too. Did Australia really need Kmh? Uk is surrounded by Kmh countries but we didn't.
Um we changed to KMH in 1974,
Movies good but that car just hit a sign and they play it like they hit a brick wall.
I wish I could find this classic with the original audio, not this horrible English dub here that they did later for the American audience.
I don't think is the dub.
@PiDsPagePrototypes this IS the dub.
@@RobJob110Funny, sounds the same as the version that was released here, Aussie accents and all. Beside English, what language did you expect to hear?
The original was English with an obvious Australian accent. The dub was with voice overs that had less of an Australian accent. The producers thought it would sell better in the American market. Me personally, I prefer the original. I recently found the blu-ray on Ebay with the actual original audio, so I am happy.
@@RobJob110 I'm pretty sure this is the Australian version. A blu ray of Mad Max came out around the same time as Fury Road and it included the option to watch it with the American dub. This video is the version with Australian accents.
And Furiosa tries to cash in on this,,,pfft
Silly movie, Gasoline is scarce, yet they drive like there's no tomorrow.
They drive like there is no tomorrow, because they know there's not going to be a tomorrow in which they can drive.
They’re police officers & they get their fuel off of the government.
In that reality, fuel is rationed, but the police have more fuel,as they need it to chase criminals along the highway.
not only do they drive like there's no tomorrow, but most of their vehicles wind up with superchargers on them at some point haha
Превьюшка заебись.
American dubbed voices sounded way tougher. Thats how I first saw this in 1980 here in the states. They sound like a bunch of candyasses with their Australian accents.
Dare you to come here and say that. I'll sick my drop bear onto ya!
Yup...Biases are EXTREMELY difficult to overcome...
I prefer the aussie accent..seeing as they're in Australia...
