well he is partially right if your computer cant make full use of 1080p then it doesn't make much difference the sound will probably be at the max output for the computer same with the display or distort and if the speakers can't produce enough power and it has a rubbish magnet then the sound wont change really but if he has a good graphics card and good sound output and good speakers (Bose, Harman/Kardon) then it would make a difference
