Emma Hayes believes that it is 'ignorant and arrogant' to suggest that the best teams did not qualify for Champions League proper following Manchester United's exit after two-leg qualifying round defeat to PSG.
Chelsea have drawn Real Madrid in Group D of the Women's Champions League along with BK Hacken and Paris FC.
It is the second year in a row that Chelsea have been drawn against Real Madrid in the group stage. Last season Emma Hayes' side won their home match 2-0, before drawing 1-1 away in Spain.

If there are 10 very good teams and only 5 avaliable slots, how do you expect everyone to qualify?
If the UWCL cares about attracting viewers and making money, they MUST make sure the best and most popular teams in Europe have a decent chance of reaching the group stage. You need more than 16 teams.

@@messsatsu4118 all of Wolfsburg, Arsenal, United and Juventus could have done well in the group stage. The champions of lower ranking leagues, who get their own qualification path, get eliminated in the group stage. Some of those who qualified didn’t win a single game in their group last year.

Lol. Emma is very happy to be playing teams from Sweden, Norway, Austria and the Czech Republic instead of Arsenal and Wolfsburg. It benefits Chelsea’s chances.
No offense, but these are teams that make the Champions League group stage year after year and barely ever win a single game there.
Emma would be complaining too if Chelsea had to play Lyon in a knockout game to reach the group stage, as it ensures a good team will miss it.

Chelsea will go further this year. They have "2" tier 1 teams (Starters and Substitutions). Lyon has lost a lot of players. Chelsea should of picked up Malard but somehow ManUTD got her which is a waste of her talents at that clubs.

Sky and the BBC are in lockstep not to refer to women when discussing the female game. It's very confusing for those that are casual fans.

@@FootyRevolutionHQno she isn’t. I mean you shouldn’t insult anyone, but she is happy about the reduced competition for Chelsea. Of course she wants many teams like Vllaznia or Servette that Chelsea can beat 8-0. That’s better for their chances to go far in the competition. But it’s better for the UWCL popularity and profitability to include as many strong teams as possible with large fanbases.
