- Part 36 in Pastor David Guzik's in-depth study of the book of Genesis, teaching through chapter 32. As Jacob returns to the land of Canaan, this chapter records an near encounter between Jacob and his brother Esau - and a powerful feat of combat and endurance between Jacob and "a Man," which resonates on many levels of analysis to this very day.
Pastor David expounds and examines the chapter verse by verse, and concludes by highlighting some of the many ways that this chapter parallels the personage and mission of Christ Jesus.

The Lord met Jacob where He was- as he meets each of us
So that we can say GOD IS GREATER
AMEN
David Guzik, even today Angels of God are in human form. They preach the Gospel of repentance. Christ is dwelling in their bodies and doing God's will.
I love it when you say "Angelic protection", it is something you cant see because it comes as "Word " sent.
The "ONLY WAY TO WIN IS BY LOOSING TO GOD" right there you hit the nail
How often we seek God, but fail to surrender when we have His ear. Then we wrestle until we realize that self-reliance is no longer an option.
Hallelujah thank you Pastor Jesus Christ is merciful to not kill us but to kill what’s killing us 🙏🙏
I had a dream live, but I didn’t have God with, so yes was wrestling with the creator, and I was empty and exhausted. But I took the word of God as my way and only way, and not be afraid of losing the word stuff. Now I have more than I could imaginen. When I was taking that dentition I felt lonely because none of my current friends understand. But I took the dentition to give it all to God and be a man of God.
Powerful testimony, Roger! Thank you for sharing this wonderful message. Blessings in Jesus' name!

Amen. The you so much for this teaching brother David! It seems each lesson in Genesis gets better and better. But this one is especially good because it tells Jacobs story that is ALL of our stories.
BLB... Enjoyed it
You mentioned having more to say on the idea of God being the Man wrestling Jacob. Do you have a video on that topic? I have been very interested in the topic of an Angel wrestling Jacob vs God wrestling Jacob. Thank you sir!
Thank you for this series, Im enjoying a lot. How do you prepare for these teachings? They are very smooth and to the point, but very rich
Pastor David, here in Genesis 32:25-27, after Jacob's hip was injured he said, "I will not let go unless You bless me!" And God asked him his name. I look at this as God giving Jacob the opportunity at redemption. When Jacob asked Abraham for his blessing and Abraham asked who he was (his name), he lied and said Esau. He took Esau's blessing with deception. I feel God giving Jacob the opportunity at redemption points to Jesus in John 21:15. When Peter, John, and other disciples are eating with a resurrected Jesus on the shores of Galilee; God asked Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?" This question was a result of Peter denying Jesus 3 times. I believe this was Jesus giving Peter the opportunity at redemption as he gave Jacob...Please let me know your thoughts. Pastor, you are the best!
Could it be that Rebekah pray for his return and God answered her prayers
YHWH is JESUS the FATHER
Pastor David, I'm having trouble with the fact that the preincarnate Jesus actually, physically hurt Jacob. I know Jesus is always righteous, could you please help me understand the disjointed hip? I don't remember anywhere else in the bible where God hurt man in that way.
Thank you very much for your guidance!
He wanted to subdue and bless him. Jacob was too crafty and shrewd
Great question.
God disciplines his children. he trains them, and sometimes he even "cripples" them in one way or another, but it is for their good, and not for their hurt.
The Apostle Paul was given a "thorn in the flesh" to keep him from being puffed up by the visions that he had of heaven.
If God injures us or limits us in some way, it is to make us more usable and actually happier, since we are living in humility rather than in our own strength or in pride.
Hebrews 12:5-11 tells us...
5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:
“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.”
7 If[d] you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? 8 But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. 9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the Father of spirits and live? 10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. 11 Now no [e]chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
Is the bobble head that is behind him Bill Clinton?
