  • Welcome to our guide on using sublimation to create stunning designs on wood surfaces. In this video, we'll explore the step-by-step process of utilizing polycrylic, polygloss, and laminate to achieve high-quality results. Whether you're a seasoned sublimation artist or just starting out, this tutorial will equip you with the knowledge and techniques to do sublimation on wood.
    🔹 Surface Preparation:
Proper surface preparation is key to ensuring optimal sublimation results. Discover the best practices for preparing your wood surface, including sanding, cleaning, and ensuring a smooth, even finish. We'll cover essential tips for selecting the right wood type and treating it for optimal sublimation adherence.
    🔹 Polycrylic Application:
Polycrylic acts as a sealant and barrier coat, safeguarding your sublimated design while enhancing its overall appearance. We'll demonstrate the correct technique for applying polycrylic to your wood surface, ensuring an even and bubble-free finish. Discover the essential tips for selecting the right type and thickness of polycrylic to achieve your desired results.
    🔹 Polygloss Technique:
Polygloss is a glossy finishing agent that adds a brilliant shine to your sublimated design, elevating its visual impact. Learn how to effectively apply polygloss, ensuring a smooth and glossy surface. We'll discuss drying times, sanding between coats, and achieving a flawless finish that showcases the full potential of your sublimation artwork.
    🔹 Laminate for Protection:
Using polyester laminate is an easy and effective way to sublimate on wood, especially if you don't mind a glossy finish (matte laminate is available also). We'll go over the proper method to prep and put down a coating of laminate to easily do sublimation on.
    🔹 Troubleshooting and Tips:
Throughout the video, we address common challenges and provide troubleshooting techniques to overcome them. From preventing color bleeding to ensuring proper adhesion, we offer invaluable tips and tricks to help you achieve consistent and impressive results every time.
    🔹 Inspiring Examples and Conclusion:
We conclude the video by showcasing inspiring examples of sublimated wood designs created using the techniques discussed. Witness the transformative power of sublimation on wood and get inspired to unleash your creativity. I am curious about the laminate that appeared to be bubbled up on the CZcams sign @ 10:23 in the video. Were you able to put it back on the press and get them to flatten out? If it's the original EasyPress, it only goes up to 360*, so you may need to add a little time to get good results. If it's the EasyPress 2, it will go up to 400* and you should be good to go.
