Great video , terrific comparisons
Thanks, I spent a LOT of time planning/shooting/editing this one.
I love the laminate method, can't wait to try it.
Laminate is sooo easy and works so well...
Great video.................very interesting to see the differences between all of them. Thanks for taking the time to do this!!!
It was a lot of work, but worth the effort!
Excellent video. You explained the different processes you used and the outcome.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice!
THANK YOU! for taking your time and effort to make this video
You're welcome! It turned out great!
this was VERY informative. thanks...........I have put that question out to multiple places and no one could answer the question of how to sub on wood or ceramic.....................thanks
Thanks, I put a LOT of testing and effort into this video.
Best video ever thank you
Glad you liked it!
Fantastic! Makes me want to try laminate again... i'm going to follow your instructions, every other video I have tried the length of time was way shorter for sublimating and everything I did was a fail. 380° @ 100sc... thanks so much for sharing this, wanna try policrylic too...
Great video man.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
watching the different processing was very informative.... the laminate seemed throught the camera the best option for vibrant colors, the polygloss on my monitor looked yellow...
Matte laminate would get rid of the super glossiness of the wood! Love this very thorough!
Thank you!
You bet!
THANK YOU! My polygloss wasnt producing the black ink on the wood, came in brown. Then I lowered my temp to yours 380 @ 100 seconds....perfection... also I set the wood on a press pillow and now its amazing!!
that eagles towel tho. great video dude
heck ya my dude!
Thank you! I need to replace some home decor that was bought back in 2000, it's just getting dated and I think the laminate will do the trick.
Thanks!
Welcome!
😊you make really good, informative videos! Thanks! Question…do you think you could use laminate on a stainless steel tumbler using a tumbler press?
Great video, given my wife plenty of ideas. Can you let us know exactly what Rust-oleum spray paint you are using please? Cheers John in the UK
This has been so helpful to me being a beginner with sublimation! Thanks for all this great information. I love, love the laminate process and that's what I'll be going with.
Yes, it turns out consistently good!
Good information! Have you tried using the dye press poly gloss on an ordinary picture frame GLASS using a good pad underneath the glass so it doesn’t break? If so would you share the link? If not would you do a video to show us how it can be done without breaking the glass? Many thanks
Great video to learn so much as you so long but extremely informative for a beginner like me
Yes, it's a long one. Believe it or not, the unedited footage was around 7 hours long. I tried to remove as much as I could without affecting the clarity.
Nice
Thanks!
I love your tshirt
Thanks, I appreciate it!
spongebob is me trying to figure out if any of this is worth trying lol thank you so much for trying all the things and sharing!
Will the laminate work on slate? Great videos...
Great video & comparison I was wondering as I have polycrylic and laminating pouches so I wanted to know which woudl be better for a sign I want to make. I am trying the laminating pouches for sure.
Glad it was helpful!
I tried to sublimate on a large mdf board. The board looked awesome, but i had a big white streak all the way down where I had pressed to overlap since it was to large to get it one press. Any tips for doing laminate on a large surface?
Fabulous video! It makes me want to run to Walmart, get the laminate pouches and some wood blanks and go crazy! I very much appreciate the time and effort you put into this. I just found you today and had to subscribe after the first video I watched (sequin pillow sublimation). You're teaching me a LOT and inspiring me to make tons of stuff. Guess what kind of things everyone is getting for Christmas this year? 😃🤗
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! Comments like this keep me going..
Thank you for the video. Could you do a video on how you made your t-shirts?
Here's the link on how I do mine: czcams.com/video/7a7OV5GSKAs/video.html&ab_channel=Southpaw%27sStudio
Thank you for excellent comparison /video .
I see you use your TUSY heat press in your videos . Do you recommend it ?
I’m thinking of getting one . I’m just a DIY Hobbyist not for commercial use ,
You have a new subscriber in me
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Thanks for the video. I will definitely be using the laminate process unless I want a more flat/matte finish. I am curious about the laminate that appeared to be bubbled up on the CZcams sign @ 10:23 in the video. Were you able to put it back on the press and get them to flatten out? Will it be a flaw on some items we will just have to deal with?
I ended up running it through the press again and it stuck back down.
If I could give 4 thumbs up I would
Thanks! I really appreciate it! I put a LOT of effort into this video, and I feel like it's definitely the best video anywhere on the subject!
In Canada we do not have the brand of laminate. Will any do? As wood is pourous, can you do sublimation without a coating? Have you tried?
👍🏻
Really beautiful, but there is a problem with paper adhesion. How do I get around it?
Dye Press Ploy glass or all others, "How would they stand up as an outdoor sign" for all-weather Conditions?
Hi.. I was wondering if you could maybe give me some advice as to why my laminate isn't melting onto the wood.. I have checked the temperature several times and I've even bumped it up a little higher.. I've also let the press stay on it longer too?
I fell into your vids and they are fantastic! Thanks for going through all this work, time and $$$’s!!!
Quick question as I’m just getting into sublimation, Cricut etc (if I get another piece of equip. my husband 🤯) so I’m REALLY HOPING I can use the Cricut heat & press? Please tell me yes 😬
Thanks, I probably have close to 40 hours in this particular video (sourcing materials, testing, filming, editing, etc). If it's the original EasyPress, it only goes up to 360*, so you may need to add a little time to get good results. If it's the EasyPress 2, it will go up to 400* and you should be good to go.
@@SouthpawsStudio wow… that is quite the investment, but greatly appreciated by those of us who are new to this I promise you!! Thanks for responding and yes, it’s the 2 👏🏻
They all look nice. I am disabled and I really need A way to make money. These look great I am also loosing my abilities to think properly. I think I am early stage of dementia but I love to mKe thing.
Do they have a high quality poly whatever that is flat, matt, or semigloss? thanks
First of all, I love your videos. Plus, I'm also a leftie. I like the laminate process the best. What I'm not sure if I missed was did you prime those wood pieces prior to lamination or was the primer for the other processes?
It's towards the beginning. I used a paint+primer in a spray can.
Which process is the most durable and how long does it last compared to normal sublimation
Is the laminate outdoor safe? How long does the laminate stay on the wood. Thank you.
i have used laminating pouches on painted wood an unpainted wood it always peals off,
Can e print on wood with matte lamination or can we get matte finish on laminate process anyway?
What sublimating printer do you use? I have tried this again and again. I can't get the vibrant colors like you do.
Does the laminate go blurry over time
Maybe a coat of poly acrylic after the cleaning to remove paper fibers will bring out the colors better.
Your link for laminate is for 3 mil rather than the 5 mil you show in the video. The problem I see in your video is the bubbling of the laminate which you don't address. Do you handle 3 mil differently from 5 mil when initially pressing it to the substrate and then sublimating?
TYSVM for video!! Can you use 3 mil? Has anyone tried it? My walmart never seems to have what I need ughhhh please help! I already have some laminating pouches in my stash.
Yes, you can.
Cant u just use htv (heat transfer film) and sublimate print. I spose it's pretty much what the laminate is doing . Cheers for vid
I tried to laminate a painted piece of MDF using 3M Laminate sheet since I don't have the Walmart brand. I could not get it to adher. Has anyone tried this eith anoter brand of laminate sheets? I even went uo on my temps but still failed.
After done, do you need to coat with anything if going to use as a coaster?
I would do a few coats of poly (such as polycrylic)
Is the laminate gloss or a matt finish?
Glossy.. it seems to stick a little better to me.. I need to try matte again though
I sub on basswood or birch with no problems but today I tried to sub on a 8" wood slice, after I applied the laminate the slice formed a cup, like a small bowl laminate was not solid all around, I waited till it got flat again and tried to sub the picture and same thing happened, middle did not stick only the outsides. Any clue on this? Thanks
Wonder if the moisture level in the wood might have been too high and caused evaporation bubble?
My laminate keeps receding around the edges when I press the design, leaving about an 1/8" white border sans laminate. Any ideas on what could be causing that?
I've had the same problem and have watched many videos and they always trim right up to the wood and my laminate shrinks when sublimated. Not seen anyone mention this issue:(
It shrinks don't trim until after, seen many videos that mention that problem.
What brand of polygloss are you using
DyePress PolyGloss
What did you use to print? Laser printer? Sublimation printer?
Converted Epson 7720 Sublimation printer.
@@SouthpawsStudio So, does that mean this won't work if it's printed from a laser printer?
What kind of white paint is that?
It's Rustoleum Painter's Touch Paint + Primer
Have you tried laminating a ceramic mug???
No, I would just get sublimation mugs
no sound
Country music
What do you mean?
Hello
hi!
pasta salad
If I would have just hit that $1.2 billion MegaMillions, I could have bought some of that Polygloss. Dude, that stuff is WAY overpriced!
