  • First video on working on this mk1 caddy owned by my friend Klaas, not a whole lot of action, but an important step in starting to prep this truck for paint.

Hi Mike. Glad you are starting this project and documenting it. I will hopefully learn a lot and be doing the same on my 1980 Caddy. It has a lot of surface rust from sitting out in a field for several years before I rescued it. I'm probably doing it backwards, but I'm currently swapping the 1.5L with a 1.9L TDI with AC. After that project is done, I hope to start the body work. I will be watching!

Thats awesome, they are a lot of work, but well worth it in the end! Having AC would be really cool!

is it same fenders for the headlight conversion? i live in sweden and looking for the square headlight conversion. impossible to find...

Hi, this truck is a late westy, so it is squares with the amber corner markers on the front edge of the fenders, they are a different fender all together, if you look at my other video I have of my caddy, it is also a late westy, there is also an early westy front end which shares the same fenders as the round headlight rabbits.

@@sliminus92 I know that the fenders are still available in an aftermarket brand, I have two in storage, but they don't fit as well as oem, as for rad support, you may have to look online for NOS or get one that someone removed from a car.
