  • The Phil and Don Everly original "I Wonder If I Care as Much" was first released on April 5, 1957 as the b-side of their first hit single, "Bye Bye Love" (Cadence 1315, 78 & 45). This unnumbered alternate take has more of a Country feel.
Both sides were produced by Cadence Records head Archie Bleyer. The session was recorded at RCA Studios in Nashville on March 1, 1957 with Chet Atkins leading the studio musicians.
    Personnel:
Don Everly - vocals, rhythm guitar
Phil Everly - vocals, rhythm guitar
    Chet Atkins - lead guitar
Floyd “Lightnin’” Chance - double bass
    Buddy Harman - drums
    Jimmy Day - steel guitar

One of my favorite songs. Never get tired of that blend of voices.

Perry, me and my buddy Tom Trimble was lucky enough to see Phil and Don at the Stockyards in Fort Worth. A magical evening!

Congratulations! I wouldn't have missed seeing them for the world, but I never heard of any tour dates within a 200-mile radius of where I lived.
