To me, this song is exactly as it says. There was a girl who was raised to believe that "The Lord does good." Her friend, Angel, was suicidal, so this girl begged God to save her. Angel ended up committing suicide, so this girl is questioning her faith and Lord.
This song isn't promoting Satanism, it's merely about a girl who's confused.

I love this song!! Interpret it how you want, but honestly it ROCKS!! Everyone has their own opinion on what the meaning is behind it but the writer knows the truth. Stop trying to pick it apart and instead appreciate all aspects of the song. Maybe she had she knew a girl with a similar life and that was why they got good friends but at some point her friend couldn't take it any longer. I mean the lyrics at all other points of the song sound more like she's singing about a friend than her. Which would also could explain why she wrote so many depressive songs even at that young age.

I really like this band. I don't love this song, but they never claimed to be a Christian band. They can sing non Christian songs. There's a ton of pain and recovery in the lyrics of all the songs. As a Christian who works in Foster Care, I can honestly tell you there are things that happen where I really want to know why they had to happen. My faith is not shaken, and I can tell kids who have gone through hell they can yell at me and God about all they want. As long as they're talking about it.
