    Very cool. Love these old Honda's. I have a 98 foreman 400fw with a blade & a winch. Beats the crap out of shoveling. It's totally stock with the original engine. Pretty good considering I live @ 7000ft so in the winter it works for a living 👍👍

    I had been using 1985 Honda Fourtrax 250 with a 48" Cycle Country manual lift plow since 2002. It did quite well, despite being 2WD. This year I upgraded to a 1996 Fourtrax 300 4x4 with Koplin High Rise tubes, my 48" CC blade, & a 2,500 lb. Warn winch. I have chains on the rear tires, & I add a bag or two of wood pellets on the rear rack when plowing. I am very happy with my new set up. In some ways, the manual lift was faster & easier to manipulate. If I need to push snow piles back, I will appreciate the extra control of the winch & the flexibility of the high-rise tubes. I really like these older Honda machines. My current set up attaches the same under the machine, but the winch hook just clips on. I wouldn't knock the manual lift, however. The blade needs to slide on its shoes to do a good job of clearing the snow.

      Yea buddy, your gonna really like that set-up. You've moved into serious snow plowing now. You will crap when you see how much deep( and I mean a foot at least) of snow you can easily move. You'd like a winch lift though --I have an acreage 'cause we dairy farmed and kept our acreage so I need a lot of atv powered machines with no farm machinery now. I have (4) Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4's . I have machinery and tools on every one. Damn cheap tractors to run instead of full size International regular tractors that's for sure!!! Have fun --good video !!

    mines an '88. makes quick work of the snow but its so damn manual. the whole left side of my back was sore for two days after just an hour plowing snow and my left knee hurt that night from shifting gears. im definitely installing a winch by next winter and possibly trying out a different shifter peddle. i wouldnt call this atv perfect for plowing snow but it gets the job done. im definitely taking it with me to WY when i move there from WA. its too useful to let it go. ideally id prefer something bigger like 800cc with auto transmission and push button plow controls.

    • @MrBriansAmazingWorld
      @MrBriansAmazingWorld  Před 3 lety +2

      In it's day it was one of the biggest atvs you could get. One of things that make this quad great is that it is all manual. No fancy electronics that came on the next models. I have a similar problem with my knee when using an old ford tractor. Constantly pressing the clutch unlike modern tractors that can sit in gear.. Some of these big quads make it so easy to ride that it takes the fun out of it. No skill required.

      Chains might help. Whenever I get deeper snow I plan on plowing multiple times just so the pile isn't able to push me off to the side. Plowing on the very edges first helps. Then I have somewhere to put the snow from the middle of the driveway. Love riding in the snow.

    Hi, how well does a little 300 4x4 do for plowing snow? I've been told by people you need at least a 600 to plow any snow over a couple inches, and I feel like that's not necessarily true. Looking at your video it looks like it does really well! Currently looking at a Bayou 300 4x4.

    • @MrBriansAmazingWorld
      @MrBriansAmazingWorld  Před 2 lety +1

      It works great. However you have to be ready for the snow. If you stay on top and plow every so many inches it is very easy. If you have a foot of light snow no problem. Wet heavy snow is another story and it won't push is. Reality I run out of traction before running out of power. A bigger quad won't help that very much. And it's fun... we had a blast on my buddy's bayou 220 as kids and would ride it with 7 people on it. Should work great for you.

      Seth, if your looking at a Kawasaki Bayou 300 4X4 your looking at the best 4 wheeler ever made !!!!!!! You should read my other you-tube posts. I have (5) 300 4x4's . Ranging from a '94 to the last year they made one in 2004. My snow-bike is a 300 with a .30 over bored motor with balanced speed pro piston, off-road racing cam, Kolpin performance exhaust, re-jetted carberator, a 4" lift kit with bigger Mud Claw tires, chains in rear, and Dennis Kirk canvas cab with LED light bars front and rear. My plow is a 60" Moose plow with a 3500 lb. Warn front winch. She plows like a mother!!!!! My 2004 is a sprayer bike with a 20 gallon sprayer with a 48" rear boom. It also pulls my 52" atv mower made by Northern Tool that mows part of acreage. Other bikes do other chores. Now that I quit farming and sold machinery---these are my tractors. These 5-speed 4x4's are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jim

    I had a question about the diy skate bowl and thought it would be better to post here because you are more likely to see it. I am planning on building one soon and was wondering if there were any seams between the wooden pieces, and if so how did you deal with them

    • @MrBriansAmazingWorld
      @MrBriansAmazingWorld  Před 3 lety

      Building a bowl out of wood is extremely difficult. I made sure to keep all my seams to less than 1/8" I wanted a smooth ride and not have wheels catch. Definitely made it difficult to cut precise curves on both edges. Good luck building one. Send me pictures! Here's a link to the wooden skateboard bowl video czcams.com/video/pJzPqK7elmQ/video.html

      @MrBriansAmazingWorld  Před 3 lety +1

      I prefer to keep everything as light as possible. Much less wear and tear on every part. Engine has to work a lot harder "tough on main bearings" to get the extra weight moving. Adds a lot of pressure to axles and u joints. And it is harder to turn. I learned that from old tractors being all weighted down for traction. It will push better with weight though.
