Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit czcams.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

Did you notice a difference in the bite rate, with using 4lb? I have just made the switch from 6 to 4 but not managed to have a proper session with it yet.

A mate of mine recommended me switching to 4lb varivas and using a Max of 6lb fluoro leader when fishing for bream. I’ve never looked back. Hook ups have become a lot more consistent. Gets a bit sketchy on the bigger fish, but hey, fishing is meant to be exciting.

Hey there Josh. Hoping that you are on the mend and the best medicine is the bump on the end of the rod and Then the thrill of reeling in the catch. Your principle of catch and release is great mate and the occasional catch and cook or taking Mum a feed of whiting is magic.
Look after yourself young fella, your enthusiasm helps old blokes like me in our 70s remember the days when we were young with our Jarvis Walker rods and Alvey bakelite reels ... the rods were so rigid you'd probably not even feel the bite.

I have a Jarvis Walker Portsea approx 6 foot long in 2 pieces that has never been used and I’m quite happy to pass it on to you for your use in making a vid using old tackle. I don’t want payment as your vids provide me with much entertainment and it is my way of saying thanks. I also have an old Bakelite reel which has seen a lot of use you are also welcome to.

I hooked a 80 cm barra in the Bribie passage on that lure, the best 10 seconds I've had in a while.

I feel you, a lot! I spent 4 hours in the water yesterday, around and just under the Harbour Bridge. Not even a single byte. I'm tyred from work now, and I'm not sure what i should do. I'll have a sesh up to The Entrance this weekend, hopefully i can film something.

Josh can you do a video on what types of line you use, hook sizes and application, and how you pick your lures in different water situations. These to me are very interesting as I have never caught anything on a lure and that could be for a number of reasons. Leaders are another topic I find have many opinions.
I know many have covered these topics but many are American and fresh water fishing 🎣

So glad you are feeling better Josh….I will admit that like many others, I was wondering where you had been. For those like me who find it very difficult to get out on the water due to physical issues, we certainly enjoy being taken on your outings. When I do have an opportunity to fish, I try to adopt many of the tactics and lures you have shared over time. One thing I was wondering Josh, do you upgrade the hooks on the hardbody lures or crush the barbs down to assist with release? Thanks again for sharing Josh and I look forward to your next video.
Thanks mark!! And I’m glad you have been able to take in some good fishing tips and tricks along the way. And for the hard body lures. I use the original hooks the lures come with when they get ruined or crushed by a fish. I’ll change to the same size treble. I’ll look for the same size in the tackle store and buy a pack👌🏼

Its good to see you back into it 👍 , i went fishing after work myself tonight but only bait fish around so only fished for an hour the sandflies started so i left have not been for a few weeks as the weather has been crap . Hope your new doctor gets you right .

Love your vids josh. Caught a sea turtle last flick. On live mullet 30 pound braid 60 pound Fluro and 60 pound steel leader 7.0 hook. Was chasing bull shark. Got a turtle the size of my torso. Awesome fight and safely returned to the drink. South east Queensland. Pine river Murrumba downs area. So you can see where I fish mate. Penn 10-15 kg. 6”. Penn 5000 reel

I like that lure and that net, I have both... this style of net seems to be much better at not injuring some of the more mental fish.
I must say though, I am not brave enough to go for 4 pound with a lure i like. props to you.

Yeah it was a rough week but I got there😅
I feel ya mate, so many good sessions last year with not many full donut sessions, and I swear I've had nothing but donuts for the few sessions this year. It's been a tough start. I wonder if it's because of the rain and it's pushing fish towards the mouth of the rivers/creeks, rather than the secret spots further up.
