    As a new TD fan, I've always avoided a lot of TD tracks because of the slow build up with a lot of their songs thinking nothing will change, but I'm glad i stuck with this one.

    Let's be honest. The sequencer at 7.30 is what defines TD at their very best.

    Rubycon is one of my favorite TD albums, & this newer version is brilliant!! Thorsten Quaeschning is quite the musician!! Hoping they will decide to tour the US again sometime in the near future! That would be great!! Thanks for this nice video for this piece!!

    Noticing this, I was afraid that this would be some sort of remix with entirely altered arrangements but happy to find out that this is rather faithful to original, especially the bass sequencing on 7:30 onwards all though it steps in instead of growing in as in original.

    I think this is actually very well done. If memory serves me right, I have a recording from about 2010 when TD did a version of Rubycon pt1 live that was about 4 minutes long and totally ineffective. This version works, though.

    Excelente versión. Rubycon..

  • @stevedunningduckinggiraffe6296

    Always my favourite tangerine dream album since 1975. It seemed to go somewhere, moved on, speeding down the highway in a Kraftwerk sort of way, unlike much of their other stuff which strangely I've really never liked much, (bought zeit and was really dissappointed, disappointed phaedra and riccochet were ok ish) it's just never had the DRIVE of these two tracks. Late nights on headphones in the dark. Magic!
    Definitely in my top 20 albums even after all these 40 years. It's great to see so many people appreciate rubycon for the classic it was. The remastered cd does have a less muffled clarity to it.

      :-) I bought them on vinyl because that was the only way to get them. Didn't know how much there was, even back in '80. And you'll want the anthologies for their original pieces (Baryll Blue, for example, from the 4-disc '70-'80 [The Virgin Recordings])
      Still, it sounds like an ambitious project. Some may never have seen vinyl. But get some of that rare stuff, like Ultima Thule; that'll be nice.

    • @PROPHETVberlinschule
      @PROPHETVberlinschule  Před 7 lety

      PROPHET V that's all you've got? I saw a National Geographic cover today that had a photo of the Aurora Borealis and it looked just like that.

    • @PROPHETVberlinschule

      Can't be specific. It involves endless hours of internet trawling to match the music to the visuals. Mostly it works O.K. Occasionally it just looks WOW!😊

    I like this version. How can I put it....it sounds more structured, organised and sort of digital if that makes sense.....which it quite obviously is. The original was the first TD material I heard about 1977 when I was an impressionable teenager and I realised that day I had found real music.

  • @cyrilbrocard
    @cyrilbrocard Před 6 lety +1

    I'd certainly validate this as a good live rendition in concert.
    Still, the cold digital sounds hardly do justice to the original analog depth and mystery of the original studio album.
    It feels a bit like computer generated movies compared to old fashion special effects. You can do things that were impossible before, but you also lose something along the way.

      Boy - do I 100% agree with you! I too wished they'd leave the original masterpieces alone. This is just total karaoke crap!! And yes - less is more - here here!!! People miss out on the beauty of TD in that they don't see how much the guys did NOT touch anything. Not many followers ever pick this up. Kitaro - well - his early days before USA - is another example of how LESS is MORE. I totally agree with you.

  • @wtc175
    @wtc175 Před 7 lety +3

    I love new TD ......Phaedra remade was excellent .....but this - No! What it lacks is the organic structure and mystery of the original which sounded as if it was being created out of the sounds of the creation of the universe with it's melting sounds which fused toigether - unlike this which sounds like a sequence being played and a lead line etc overplayed separately . The beginning gong sounds ae a pale imitation of the original - the original sounded full of mystery ...this one sounds as if it was written and played using computer software - which it obviously is.
