I moved to Turkey when I was seven in 1971 and left in 1975 due to the war. My family lived in Izmir and we loved the country, people, food and culture so much. Although I was never fluent in Turkish, I was able to communicate with the locals pretty well but sadly I have forgotten much of the language over the years. I'm going to do my best to re-learn the basics of the language and return as a grateful guest to the country I loved so much as a kid.

'Tamam' 'Evet' 'Yok' 'Gunaydin' 'Iyi Geceler' 'Ashk' 'Imizin' 'Bilimiyorum/Biliyorum' 'Sen Chok Seviyorum..' 'Sen' 'Ben' 'Biz' Haha. I am so happy that I could catch up some Turkish words. Lots of love ❤️

This will be my 4th language. I love how every language that I have picked up in this life has been for a different reason.
This one? This one is special.
More than 25 years ago, I fell in love with a boy who was passionate, active and loved life. We met in primary school by sheer chance and stayed in the same class for 4 years. He intrigued me for no apparent reason, and I had just begun to learn English.
Years later, we would reconnect over Facebook. By now, I was university educated, and starting my postgraduate career. A while after that, at my low point, it so happened that we decided to meet again in person. We had all the potential in the world to enjoy a lifelong friendship, but I... went too far and wanted too much, when his family had only wanted him to marry their own kind of people. I understood that like I had never understood anything before, but I was crushed and in my grief, I did something and (emotionally) hurt him pretty badly that he deleted me off FB and effectively from life.
For six years, I have carried this and in recent times, decided on a legacy. I'd go out there, love more, be more, do more for others. I will make each day count. However I learn this language, I will enjoy it, and there he will be.

      Actually, Turkish is very unique.
Western languages and other common languages in the world activates left part of the brain. Turkish activates majorly the right part. New and extraordinary challange for human brain.
english language is very precise, detail oriented, reflects images directly to words. Easy to read and understand because it provides the exact meaning. rigid sentence structures. Assume that the reciever is idiot. (i mean language gives clear message for every iq level)
      turkish
      --creative, flexible
--super efficent to talk. (less word and less noise provides extensive deep message to the reciever )
-- math like grammer rules but also lego like creativity.
      --focuses bigger picture
--assume that reciever has 150iq (the language somehow forces you to "read/predict intentions" this has huge downsides as well)
--most common words in the language "the" "a" "s" removed for Efficeny.
--minimal mouth movement, no throat usages, no jaw dropping sounds. focuses frontal parts of the mouth. explosive.
      i.e
      Efficeny:
      - askerdi (asker:soldier)
      - it was a soldier
      1.5 word vs 4 words
      What was that noise ?
      --kedidir.
--I think, it was a cat.
      1vs6
      0.2 sec vs 1.5 sec.
      intentions- 150 iq Reciever :
--Sandalye Getir ! (Direct Transl: Bring Chair)
English speaker gives every detail-- Bring me/us a chair or two chairs etc.
as a Turkish I dont say me or us and exact number for this event.
So unintentonally, i assume and expect that the reciever completes the missing parts according to the spesific situation, knows turkish well. interpret the situation based on the context . If im alone, he ll bring one chair. If we are 5 and standing at the place, he ll bring 5 chairs. İ dont need to give every detail. Fast way to communicate but not accurate.
most of the time, we dont use subject pronouns, plural addings, refers idioms a lot to express more meaning. Less prepositions.
i.e Where is the wallet ?
-- it is in the wardrope
      --dolapta (da suffix)
so Turkish answer assume you know the exact wardrope and interpret this message.(have it your way)
Our brains are very trained for complete missing parts or adding new parts. So when tourists try to speak Turkish, native may grasp the meaning so quickly. Cuz the language is like lego. You dont need the complete.
Turkish 2 years old kids learns spoken Turkish way more quickly than other kids. but hard to understand written language and hard to grasp foreign languages as well.

I was born in Turkey, but I grew up in the UK, so i knew how to speak but i learned the reading writing myself (zamanın durumu işte) neyse later on i left the UK to go to High School in turkey I’m glad i did, but i came across this a lot, ‘Turkish is not an easy to learn language.’ I was weirded out by such remarks even if i knew where they were coming from, but i have to say its such a deep language, connects to Ancient Asia , Turkmenistan, Arabian. There are still altered words from Göktürk, Selçuklu, Osmanlı and now Latin Turkish all smashed to a degree to creat this amazing cultural language.
I admit we have similar words with all sides of the world but i have to say it flourished in our hands. (That last remark was a bit arrogance and showoff mentality of me, i am proud of my culture)

Atalararım Selçukludan, Osmanoğularına hem yanında durdu hem Kurtuluş döneminde kırgın oldu, her ne kadar kanım Kürt olsada Ağrı ayaklanmasından öcesine, şimdiye dek Kendimi Türk görürüm ve dediğim gibi, Selçuklu, Osmanlı, Turk Cumuriyeti için sevip sevmemek ayrı canım feda oldun.

Oh! Güzel oldu arada sırada milletime aşkımı ilan edesim geliyor sonrasına sorguluyorum sen nezaman böylesiye beyin yıkandın ama ne sıra Türk lafı çıksa bile bile yürüyorum ilan etmeye. Mahkûmum Kainata kadar ve inşallah ondan sonrası.
