Hello Hans (and Lyn behind the camera!) I used to be too 'gentle' when repotting my cacti...and it seemed to take me forever and a day. After watching your videos, I've learned that I just need to be aware of what I'm doing, of course...but, it's not like handling newborn chickies. I just get in there and do what needs to be done, and in just a few minutes, a beautifully repotted cacti. ----- Byeeeeee, heading to the porch now for more repotting today! 🌵❤️🌵❤️❤️🌵🌵❤️ from the high desert of NM, USA Steve

Hello Hans 👋🏻 these are such beautiful cacti. I do not have one in my collection, I think I need to buy one 💕 🌵 sending you heaps of cactus power from Paula x
Oh the wonderful memories you and your cactus brings me As a little girl in Southern California my mother had the most incredible collection of Cactus and how they would bloom for her I fell in love w all cactus back then esp those that to me resembled living stones/ rocks ( which I have seen many times in your poly tunnel ) Unfortunately living here in Alaska it’s nothing short of a miracle to find “ healthy cacti “ any where. For many years I worked in the oldest and most incredible ( to me ) Greenhouses in Fairbanks Alaska- Anne’s Greenhouses it was always known as and Anne ( full blooded German which just tickled me as my maiden name is Hildebrand ( high Deutsch I was told ) ) and each time Oma would order cactus from the Lower 48 ( as we call the states below all of Canada lol ) she would get the most glorious cacti and then all if a sudden they started dying and she’d have me take them out of their pots and I kid you not I removed very large ( be right back lol ) ( found it !! ) caterpillars from the inside of the plant. The cactus had NO root system whatsoever - it had been cut with a knife no doubt then without letting it heal over they were put in soil. The perfect way to kill them for sure and the perfect door for those blasted caterpillars-to make an eatable home. So again thank you both for the most wonderful memories of sheer joy watching my living rocks thrive and slowly grow in the California sun !!! Much love from Anchorage Alaska to you and Lynne both living an incredible plant filled life there on the Emerald Isle. ☃️☃️❄️❄️💙💙🦋🦋🦋🦋💜💜💗💗

Really beautiful video Hans! For some reason my lophophoras have taken off lately and are starting to flower too! really love these plants! Have a nice week!
I know its been a while since you produced this video but I'm about to repot my LW for first time so thanks for info and some ideas. Nice cactus Plant Daddy!!! They are behaving well!!! That is a big fat root!!! Is this a caespitosa variety? How long have these LW been in these pots before you repot? You said current soil was crap, is it because it's too organic or? So you dont need to wash off all the old soil before repotting? Did you say what your new substrate is composed of? So they dont require a lot of space on uppotting on the repotting? Is it easy to propagate with new pups? Nice job!!! And way to go Camera Girl Lyn!!! LOL
Beautiful beautiful cacti!!! I’m finally getting one tomorrow that’s 2 cm. Small but hopefully mine will look like that in so many years. Thanks for sharing 🌵🌵

imo, that new pot is too shallow. they do well when they are allowed to grow a long tap root. then with a long thick tap root, each time you repot the plant you can trim the feeder roots down to the tap root thereby forcing the plant to grow new feeder roots. in the long run, the plant is healthier and grows faster for it. always heavily water the plant a couple days before repotting cactus plant particularly when doing a root trimming.

Thank you Rod for watching. It depence on how big the plant is. Give the plant space so it can grow at least one more year. Peace & Love :-)

yeah... I wonder... Is the same size or even smaller than the original pot.... so dunno understand whats the point of changing...

1 of my 9 LW is a little bit squishy and it hasn't grown like the rest of them. What can I do?
