  • Vintage Guitar Oldenburg and Tobias Hoffmann present a Epiphone Sheraton Elite made in Japan in 2003 more infos at: www.vintage-guitar.de/detailsv... The guitar shown was played through a Fender Vibroverb Reisuue and recorded with a Shure SM57 (right) and a Sennheiser 409 (left) . The backing tracks were recorded into a Line6 DL4 looper on the same instrument right before the recording of each video. We used the Vemuram Jan Ray Pedal and a Vemuram Shanks 4k for overdrive sounds. Tobias Hoffmann is a award winning guitar player from cologne, germany. He combines the sounds of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Surf and some experimental stuff. Check him out:

I demoed an Elitist Sheraton and felt it out performed my es 335 in every way. I sold my es and bought the Sheraton elitist…..almost approx 20 years ago…never happier😎

I was lucky enough to just score one of these, in Sunburst. Same year, MIJ. Waiting on shipment now, its gonna be my first high end ES.

These models were reissued under the "Elite" and "Elitist" moniker for a few years in the 2000's. These are known as being superior instruments (in regards to craftsmanship). Many believe they are comparable to the original Kalamazoo and the MIJ Matsumoku years of the 80's. They were all built by Terada and FujiGen in Japan. The reason for two names was due to Ovation suing over the name "Elite" and that forced them to change it to Elitist in 2003. As of 2008, the Elitist models were discontinued with the exception of the Elitist Casino and the Dwight Trash Casino. The Epiphone Elitist guitars came with Made in USA pickups, higher grade woods, bone nuts, hand-rubbed finishes. The Japanese domestic market Elitists used the Gibson headstock as opposed to the "tombstone" headstock used on exports.

That maple top is showing it's bite before time rounds it off.

Currently on my search for an elitist myself. If I may ask, wondering what your setup is here,
The lighting, the camerawork. It’s all very nice
