- This song is too much fun to play to not share with you all!
It's not a difficult one to play but it has to be one of the best!
Enjoy =)

Although theres some inaccuracies here, yall could still show some gratitude for someone going out of their way to teach us how to play as close as possible to our favorite songs without being instructed by the original guitarist. Imagine having to create all of this with just your ears? That takes an amazing amound of skill to even come close to the orginal tablature. Thanks for everything you do Mikerisms. Youve made an impact on a large majority of your viewers who are endlessly grateful for your hard work.
This is what I was thinking when I was watching this. I'm like "man, I love seeing people still trying to learn or still playing old underoath songs."
As someone who knows nothing about guitars or playing an instrument, this is crazy cool. Never knew how much went into it.
The intro is actually incorrect. You can find the video of Tim doing a tutorial of a few songs, the 1st being this intro. It's open on the low D, then 2nd fret on the high D, for the first two notes. Theres also a power chord slide for the 5th/6th notes (Bb5-C5).
The video is on Alternative Press CZcams channel. Video is titled "How to play Underoath riffs by Underoath Guitarist..."
Absolutely great tutorial my man!! - from the guitarist of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.. Cheers
By the way the guy meant to say 9th fret on your g string instead of your 7th fret
Can you do writing on the walls please!!!
love this song
it's so interesting that people often to tutorials of both the rhythm and lead parts simutaneously, when in reality when recorded and/or played live parts are split up between different guitars. James plays rhythm sections while Tim plays leads and vice versa.
This song is such a headbanger
That second part (picked chord) over the other guitar part for the pre- chorus reminds me of The Impact of Reason.
the "chord play" you're talking about at 2:56 where you said "there's something weird going off" is actually one track and it's Tim McTagues lead guitar riff. You got the chord right, But he pulls off off to open g and then index finger off to open b. So it's 7th fret d string, 9th fret g string, pull off to open g, 6th fret b string, pull off to open b, slide down middle finger to 3rd fret, then back up to the 7th fret, 9th fret g string again and pull off to open g again, then index finger slides from 6 to 1 on b string, then down there he does a jazzy slide on the 2nd and 3rd frets on the g string (also every other time he adds the open e string with 6th fret b string to make a semi tone. He also juggles between the d and g string power chord before going to the b string every other one)
Also the discord at 5:55 the pinky stays on the 9th fret and you hit the bottom e string with both chords
DUDE, thank you for taking the time to type this out! I've been wanting to figure that part out since like 06!! But the dissonance and unconventional playing is so hard to pick through. I've got what you've written figured out up to the jazzy slide part, not sure what you mean by jazzy slide but I'm moreso confused about everything after that. Do you mean at the end of every other time he plays through it? And also the d and g string power chords I'm confused by.. you said before going to the b string but I'm not sure what you mean by that?
Also out of curiosity, where did you learn to play it properly?
Such a good tutorial. Thank you for teaching me!
I love your music taste!
They play the second note of the main riff on the 4th string instead of the dropped D string
and the 1 to 3 on the a string are actually power chords
3:00 it sounds like you're meant to do some slides on the b string for that part. At least that's what it sounds like to me. I could be a fool
Hey, I appreciate this video and this is now one of my favorite songs to play, and would appreciate another drop d underoath song lesson please
Good Quality man... more of Underoath please..
Unfortunately there are a few errors here. Tim actually did a youtube video showing the right way to play it. Thats for those who want to play the real version.
muchas gracias héroe del rock and roll
Awesome tutorial
Do something by Hail The Sun or at least a tutorial for Dissapearing Syndrome Pleaseeeeeee!!! 😭
Btw Love your videos keep them up 😄
Kevin Lee0926 he did like three hts songs already
Anthony Kelley I know but it would be awesome that he do more covers from Wake, Culture Scars or Maybe Elephantitis Ep, or just some tutorial of some songs from those albums 😄
Kevin Lee0926 Dude hell yes I totally agree I'm sure it's coming sometime this dude is a guitar god
Kevin Lee0926 I have already done several. I definitely will do more though. I need to get back into the HTS mindset. I have to be in the right frame of mind playing wise to tackle those sorts of things! If I'm not feeling it I won't do as good of a job, I hate forcing a cover ☺
second note is played on 4th string.... 1 to 3 is also power chords not single notes......guitarist has youtube vid showing... pretty close though... cheers
I know its probably not what your into but id love to see you do Let Me Hear by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Yes this was a fun one indeed haha!
im gonna assume this isnt very beginner friendly lol 2 months here
Could you please do alone in December by Underoath?!?!?!!!!!
Thank you sir
YES
Check out last dinasours ! I think you'll like them
Hey I wanna learn about the things you called dischords, the awesome gnarly sounds but google isn't helping me, are there any other terms I could search? Also I used to think this song would of be insanely hard but you explained it well.
JamesUsed Hey, thanks man. Dis stands for Dissonance, it's defined as a lack of harmony between musical notes. Basically any harmony that is close together produces a dissonant sound, displeasing to the ear. Minor 2nds are particularly dissonant so they get used often to create an uneasy or brutal sounding passage of music. Hope this helped 😀
Mikerisms thank you!
No worries man =)
Dude what is that under your strings above the nutslot I've always wondered this
Anthony Kelley I think it is a bit of foam to help with strings ringing possibly?
Joel H Yup. That's it. It juat muted the strings behind the nut so their ringing doesn't interfere with recording ☺
1:23
I prefer to use this chord:
E:
B:
G:9
D:7
A:8
E:7
i do the same thing with no 7 on the low E. feels good man.
the opening phrasing is wrong. Tim goes to the open A...not the 5th, :)
you have played most of this wrong but still sounds cool, well done
hii my friends want to learn guitar....
This is wrong
I’m prob the only one who doesn’t like underoath riffs especially this one it’s so messy and random 🤷♂️
This is all types of wrong
