The most beautiful lake in Finland

A lake in the shape of Finland. This is one of the most beautiful lakes we have discovered in Finland and also quite amazing if you look at it from the sky.
This lake can be found in Kittilä and it's totally free to go there and you can access it by your own car. This lake is called "NEITOKAINEN" and it was built by Esko Sääskilahti with a small crew and a few excavators in 1991. This was going to be the location of a tourist holiday village, but was quickly cancelled due to the 90's recession. The construction crew started with making the lake and it is still in Kittilä for travellers to go admire, but nothing more.
In the 90's the nearby forest was inhabited for about three years by a core group of the so called Lno-Iriadamant people, 63 "lifestyle"
indians. A new age group lead by Pierre Maltais. This gives the place an eerie vibe and if you have a local guide you might still find their abandoned camps decaying in the forests of Kittilä. For us it was too spooky to set up camp near the lake, so we quickly documented what we could before the rain and had to get out from there.
