I always liked how you describe the emotional and mental toll that Lnik must be going through with his adventures. In the end of Ocarina he's basically an unknown/forgotten hero. No one will ever know what he did or what he went through to save Hyrule. In this game, he tries to be that same hero, trying to save this new land but fails. He's forced to watch his new friends die time and time again in a seemingly endless loop. All as a child too. My boy Lnik is gonna need some therapy after all this.

As a young teen I _devoured_ this game and its possible playthroughs. At a point, I mapped out a way to beat every dungeon and fulfill as many (meaningful) sidequests in a one-cycle path to beating the game. It only felt meaningful to finish things if I'd done all the things that made me feel like I made an impact.

You have such a captivating and wonderful voice for story telling. I am particularly grateful that you have taken us through Majora's Mask. Beautifully told and one of my favourite games ever. When I play Majora's mask after completing it, I like to go all round Termina and do good for everyone including the side quests. I beat all the bosses, restore the lands to normal and do every possible side quest for characters like Anju and Kafei, Gorman etc all in one three day cycle before facing Majora. It isn't easy but it can be done! Again thank you very much for this.

This is so so so so good. It really makes me want some story of something else in Link's life between this and become the Hero's Shade.
Out of all the boss changes from the 3DS one, the only one I liked was Twinmold because until then I legit did not know the light arrows worked, I only ever used the Giant Mask against it.

It’s crazy listening to you talk about how stressed link is made my chest tighten god even knowing the end it still makes me swing between emotions better than any other Zelda story and some other games I know that might be blasphemous but this is hands down the best narrative when it comes to Zelda botw and tears may have better gameplay and graphics but they don’t even come close to mask in terms of storytelling

Majora’s Mask is in the Child Hero timeline. Meaning he defeated Gannondorf, went back in time, then went off to look for Navi. Remember at the beginning of the game he’s traveling through The Lost Forrest looking for her when he encounters Skull Kid kicking off the game

This is the N64 version played on the Retroarch emulator. She found a 4k texture pack that she installed but I think it was one of the first ones she found. If you can't find the texture pack I'll try and get the info for you.
I feel Majora's maks acts a lot like the mask from the franchise of the same name. The mask holds the power and dark corruptive spirit of Majora but the wearer also greatly affected it and what is created while linked to its host. Since the mask was on Skull Kid wheb the moon was enchanted and all the spells happened, he, the moon and spells all are reflections of the Majora tainted skull kid, even after Majora left him. He was possessed by Majora but still influenced and driven by the host in a sort of fusion. Just like Stanley, Donovan, Milo and all other wearers of the mask have similar dark, cartooney triats but also very different drives/perosnality aspects, I think Majoras Mask will act simailry on different hosts. They will all be cimorrupted in a sinalr manner and inadvertently assist in Majora's desire for power/chaos but how they go about it is dependant on the wearer. Skull kid is a playfully but lonely child who feels his friends betrayed him. His playfully cruel and mischievous actions reflect this. If Gannandorf got the mask however, I feel a more direct and visious takeover of all the land would have instead cocured. I also feel the Mask may have stayed fused to Ganandorf longer as a result since he will go farther and harder than Skull kid would. I doubt Majora's mask you require much manipulation beyond power granting to get what he wants form Ganandorf. Ganadorf is already the perfect vessal..which makes makes sense since he and the mask are insanely similar. They are both the end product of a dark diety-like being who seeks punishing influence on the mortal realm through them without the abilty to directly do it themselevs. Ganadorf is a product of Demis' curse to bring suffering on Hyrule and Majoras Mask is a product of Majora's powers to bring suffering to pretty much any/all mortals. Sure, the Demise backstory was not yet established at this time but it still fits insanely well and may have thus been partially inspired by the Majora one..now had TINGLE gotten the mask..well..we know his selfishness and greed does kind of manifest in negative traits..he loves ruppess and doing what feels good to him in thebface of what others think..which can be inspiring but also sociopathic..we do get it confirmed versions of him wind up a thief or criminal as a result of their callus approach to life..but he's also a dumb goofball. He is more a child than Skull kid often is and does. He would likly do much more silly, dumb shit for the sake of it and likely lose majora quicker. He would turn into something much more like the Batmite to skull kids Mr.Mxyzptlk or King Joker. Majora wants God King Dr. Doom so he'll settle for what Skull kid is serving but I think tingle would be a quarter step to bounce off of before quickly moving on. In fact..this may have been for the best that it wound up in termina. We know this was the Kid timeline. This is the timeline of Twighlight princess. Ganandorf will be arrested and banished but make his return. It's best the mask didn't remain for him to eventually find and take. He already was already after soemthing simailr in the fused shadow so if the mask was still acessable, who knows what would have happened..in the hero dies timeline however..well..Ganandorf is in power..and the mask may not have left Hyrule. We have no idea for sure ..if I'd did..well..fuck..Ternima is toast in that timeline, but Ganandorfs reach for power DID stop the happy mask salesman from entering the woods..(very likely as he is one of the refugees seen celebrating at the end of Ocirina) then Majora's Mask still is out there. Luckily it seems the two entities did not cross paths before a new incarnation of link beat him but it still is a spooky thought ..

I think something that people tend to misinterpret is the question of "will you be a mask salesman too?" I think the true meaning of this goes over the head by the inclusion of the word too and the popular fan hypothesis about the Happy Mask Salesman being a larger force than he seems. People want to take this as a direct refeence to the Mask salesman and as if the kid is asking if Link wants to be on his supernatural level or role. HOWEVER. We learn something about how masks sales work in these games in the prior one. The Happy Mask Salesman..NEVER SELLS MASKS!!! Not directly. He LOANS masks to outsiders who then act as his salesforce. They wear these masks and sell them to buyers they come across. He then expects recompensation with the lower agent making a fraction back as commission. He runs an MLM. Link has ALREADY BEEN A MASK SALESMAN. My interpretation us that the kid is asking if Link will be a Mask salesman TO HIM, giving him the masks he desires. This also infers it is not charity but Link WILL get compensated in some manner. Our subtle hint that this is what we need to do to gain something. These masks are nice moments but serve us no further function in the game for our needs at the time..just like in the previous game when we needed to distribute them to people across hyrule. That was the main point of them. We keep the primary masks, it's just the side quest reward masks that get "sold" to the moon children. These were only trophies for us and now we'll "sell" them tot he moon kids for somthing ultimatly better. The inclusion of the word "too" is a bit complicating. I think it either was a mistake in the translation process or an inference that the moon children consider THEMSELVES Mask salesmen. They each are going around wearing a mask which is how the mask salesforce opperates. Whether they really are or not doesn't really matter because they are kids and playing pretend. They want to play a game of good guys and badguys with Link so it's easy to assume this may be further roleplay. In fact..this may stem from the orugional sin..not the Christian one..the skull kid stole the mask from thw Happy Mask Salesman buy it was not out of malicious intent. This guy's is unique and we get that expressed in Ocirina. A shop like this with wares of this kind that opperate in this manner are very uncommon. The skull kid was likley intrigued by what he saw, took the mask to play around, perhaps as one of the salesforce, and got possessed. He meant no genuine harm to the salesman and probably did what he did out of genuin intrest to the man. Knowing the backstory of the skull kid, seeing a lone guy wandering around and spreading happiness to others througha group of "Friends" probably made him both relate to the guy while aspiring to him. He is like the skull kid but achieving what the skull kid desperately wants. The moon children could reflect this by playing as mask salesmen and hoping Link will join in. The other sad aspect is that these are all mask salesmen of the skull kid or majora in his imagination..buy they are also just him. Just duplicates of him. Link joining in with the fantasy process would make it more than that and his dreams come true.
Also, Majora..Link..Mask..MLM!!!! Just kidding on that one. Lol
