It's July 12th, 2024 and, until today, I just listened to this piece on guitar.
But, in this exact day, I decided listen to this music in other instruments.
First, on piano: very beautiful. After, in the harpsichord: also beautiful and kinda barroque.
Then I found an orchestra playing with a guitar solo: it was magnificent.
But this arrangement for organ made every part of me tremble, specially the third movement. My eyes are staring at the screen of my PC and I still can't believe what I listened to. I guess Barrios would be very proud to listen to this in this arrangement. A haunting interpretation for a piece written for such a delicate instrument like the guitar.
Bravo! For the performer and for Golan who made this arrangement!

When I worked on this arrangement, my idea was to preserve and not to add more then I should to the existing notes, but the organ capabilities are very different from the ones that guitar can produce. Eventually, most of the adding I did to the sheet music was the pedal parts in order to adjust the music from instruments that are so far from one another and still maintain the music to sound like it was written for organ and not for anything else.
Boris Zobin did a wonderful work. I loved working with him. He recorded other organ works I composed.

This piece is such a masterpiece and it's so inspired, even in its guitarist original, to the keyboard music of Bach, that it works perfectly on the organ, on the piano and even on the harpsichord. The Prelude is so close to many Preludes of Bach, the Andante is so keyboard music!, just as a south-americas Franck could be, and the Allegro is basically a toccata! This triptych in this wonderful organ version, reminds me of Franck's Prelude, Fugue et Variation Op. 18. The thematic coherence of Barrios is immense, and the whole work is a gorgeous exampled of romantic/neo-baroque fantasia.

BEAUTIFUL HAUNTING piece and exceptionally dynamic. And Boris' playing makes Golan's piece very much "alive" and the interpretation is excellent. I'd say it will take me a while to master (if I can even come close) on that third movement. I'm not quite there yet but with practice, time will tell. It is a marvelous piece. I did not compose it, the composer is Agustin Barrios. I only did the arrangement from guitar to organ.
