Out of all those players and Administration people for Kansas City George Toma is the biggest Legend to come out of there. Seriously seriously.

I remember my first major league game I ever went to at Municipal Stadium. A's vs the Tigers. Norm Cash TIger's first-baseman hit a home run over the freaking scoreboard.

I can recall Frank Howard hitting an absolute moon shot at the old ballpark. Left center field over a clump of trees. Had to have gone 500 feet at least.

George Toma always did a great job. I remember watching Chiefs games on TV and they would have the helmets of both teams sandwiching the 50 yard line.

The Kansas City Spurs were originally based in Chicago (Soldier Field) as an original member of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in 1967. The NPSL's merger with the competing United Soccer Association (USA) after that season resulted in two Chicago teams, so one had to move which was the Spurs. The team that stayed in Chicago was the Mustangs which were owned by the Allyn brothers who also had the White Sox and Comiskey Park.

In '55 A's relief pitchers rode in from the center field fence (the bullpen was on the other side) in a new Oldsmobile convertible. Opposing relief pitchers had to walk.

Big difference between Cleveland Municipal Stadium and the one in Kansas City. The seating capacity of the Cleveland Municipal Stadium was over 70,000. The capacity of Kansas City Municipal Stadium for baseball was only about 32,000.
