Better keep that truck. Put on a camper topper and tow with RV. So good to have a truck when you move to the land. Great video. Nice new tires !

I have a 72 chevy big block w/cross-flow Radiator. Its fluid level cold is never at the top but a few inches
down.If you fill it to the top cold it will always spit out what it doesnt use to the overflow tank.I wouldnt
    worry if I were you...Cheers.!

My feelings exactly, use one of the old antifreeze jugs as a overflow bottle till you can order a factory one from LMC Truck! Till you drop the fuel tank and clean it out, always have a few extra fuel filters on hand. I would not worry about plugs and wires and cap, Jimmy sounds like it is running just fine, concentrate on the fuel system first, get it sorted out then you can go to other systems if needed! And, STOP worrying about a head gasket, no oil in the antifreeze, or antifreeze in the oil, no overheating, you probably just have a cold water leak, check all the hose clamps for tightness, and as Gilbert said, leave the level a few inches down in the crossflow radiator, and stop stressing! You got a solid truck there!

That truck should have the Rochester quadrajet carburetor. It contains a filter located right on the incoming gas line on the carb. You need to change that. Also, the diaphragm on the mechanical fuel pump will eventually go bad from not being used for so long. You should change that asap.

If you do drop out the fuel tanks to clean them I saw another youtuber clean out a fuel tank and coat the inside in some fuel tank sealer stuff stops rust from getting in the fuel :) glad its out, moving and you've got some transport into town now :)

Awesome...possibly a few flat spots on them old tyres didn't help the ride...you could give the body work a coat of clear coat bring that paint work out to if your gonna clean up the rims aswell ...Great video seeing her on the road...👍👍👍

You could also try and raise the overflow. The cap might be leaking vacuum when the system trying to refill it self. For my projects, i like to try to keep cold level in overflow no lower than 2" from top of my caps. Seem to work.

You would see tinny bubbles in the water if your head gasket was leaking even a little. Nice to see you driving around again.

start jimmy up and let him get warmed up then watch that bottle if it continues to push air in to it it'll be the head gasket 1 other thing it can be is the upper intake manifold gasket but usually if it's that you just get water in the oil but sometimes it pays to do both at the same time and cheaper to if you get the whole head gasket kit and if you do that get new head bolts that's a must

Check the radiator cap pressure... for every lb. of cap pressure failure you get about 3lbs. of back pressure against the water pump... replace the cap with a new one, and change the thermostat at the same time... watch your water pump weep hole as you bring up to temperature. If it drips or the location is wet, that's where you're either pushing fluid or sucking air... yo can also grab a exhaust gas testing kit from Harbor Freight. That will tell you if it's exhaust gas in the system and then it's head gaskets or valve guids in the heads... This is a starting point.. good luck buddy... love your content.. love from P.N.W

Hi Nathan, at the next opportunity, I suggest you pick up couple more fuel filters.. Until you drop the tank & clean it out, I suggest you always have 2 or 3 on hand.. I suspect the reason the previous owner had so many spares was that they were struggling with the same problem.. Best wishes, Dennis

If you had a bad head gasket, your engine should be running VERY hot. You need a pressure tester when the engine is COLD...... checking when cold will show leaks that don't leak when hot. Also take a mirror and check the 'weep' hole on the bottom of the water pump.

Unorthodox I know, but you can put a bit of the fluid coming out of the exhaust onto the tip of your finger and taste it. If its sweet you need to look at replacing a head gasket. (Obviously don't drink it, tasting it is fine). Also in most states, if your vehicle didn't come with a seat belt or shoulder strap, you don't need one to abide by the law.

    Great truck!
It neeDs RPM'S take it out on HWY then put your foot down drive it 85~100 for a few power rips, that should help blow out Alot of carbon and chunks of exhaust rust out.

    🇺🇸Hey, Nate;
Made in the U.S.A., at Home Depot? The world is upside down, again, but this time it's going, to be Right side up.
For a Home base, you might want, to checkout Camper Van Kevin's channel. He's in Concho, Arizona, where Boonedockers and peppers are welcome and
    Land prices seem reasonable.
    GOD Bless

A rusty gas tank and lines are never permanently cured, only patched up for a few miles with new filters. That thing needs a tank and gas lines. There's a #400 mesh screen in the tank that get gummed up, no amount of external filters will fix that. I had a 1968 Cadillac that happened with. You have another 40 micron filter stone at the carburetors input.

    Not a head gasket issue.

  • @dominickserignese8837

You should probably replace thermostat. When you get the cash you should probably go through the braking system on Jimmy.

You might have a mouse house inside your exhaust system. That would definitely smell weird.
