I understand it could be trouble if Robelis doesn’t get a KO in the first but we have to remember this man is an Olympian. Just because we haven’t seen him in a round 2 or 3 doesn’t necessarily mean that’s a disadvantage. The fact is we truly won’t know until it happens. Same goes if he gets taken down, we haven’t seen it happen so we don’t know. I truly don’t think Waldo is gonna be the one to fraud check Robelis. The ufc is giving him easy fights to catapult him to the rankings asap. I think this is an easy dub for Robelis. Especially since Waldo couldn’t finish a 45 year old AA.

Buckley put a pace on someone? He has gassed anytime he hits the 3rd round even if he has won some of those fights. Curtis handled him pretty easily, Imavov did, alhassan gassed completely and Buckley held him down because he was just as tired.
His power does stop his opponents from putting a pace on him though. It keeps them honest. I think Luque quit against Buckley and if not for that big fence grab Luque may have won that fight by submission or got some damage off on the ground which would have changed the complexion of the fight going into round 2.

I’m actually on your side against Despaigne. His first fight as far as I remember was def quick but it wasn’t really a showcase of any sort of technique. Which surprised me considering he is supposedly a Tae Kwon Do black belt and Olympian. The closet resemblance I can think of is when Bob Sapp missed his punch and knocked the guy out with his bicep. I think he just throws his massive body and tree trunk size limbs in a general direction and hits them with whatever part of it that happens to get there first. I’m not sure exactly what it would take to counter that except be a heavyweight with good timing and footwork. A good ground game would probably also be a must. No real room for error standing against Rob. Curious about his chin. Bet he didn’t have to take too many kicks to the head in TKD.

I thought it was pretty clear that Luque was more fearful of getting hit and cared more about not getting hit than winning the fight. Even in the finish. When have you ever seen the guy pull guard when he’s not even hurt then cover up and get finished with GNP without being totally gassed or hurt before that. Haven’t seen that happen to anybody in a long time. I get his skills are still there somewhat but he’s not willing to fight the way he did when he was in his prime imo.

@@joshfanguy6692 robelis has fought 4 taxi drivers and one of the worst fighters ever signed to ufc, you have no idea what happens to the guy when he gets hit, get to the 2nd round, gets taken down and what his cardio looks like, while i can't say i trust acosta very much, atleast i know what i can expect from the dude, don't know if you're saying that he's "bad" because a slight off night vs. arlovski, but he's really not "bad" as you're saying. If Robelis expects just to march forward to ko him like he did to his opponents in his past, this can turn out very bad.

I am about as casual (getting more into it) as a fan as there is, so take my opinion with a grain of salt…
When I look at “fighting” over 15/25 mins, I think about the idea of which fighter went into the octagon with the mentality of “I’m going to finish this guy” and finds a way to attempt it. Erceg was beating Pantoja down, and damaging him. When you grapple, you should be looking to do damage / submit a guy. A lot like Sterling at 300, he “won” but… how? If I’m behind a bar in Canada in a fist fight, I wouldn’t expect someone to just take someone down and lay on them in the back alley.
Casual fan take, I like fighters who look knock the other guy out. That’s why I’ve always loved a Tyson over a Mayweather, etc.

Okay, not picking RD isn’t crazy because there are some unknowns but assuming he doesn’t have a gas tank because you have not seen it is silly. Thats like assuming someone can’t run fast because you never seen them run. It’s very assumptive. Also, giving Waldo credit for his 3 round wins is silly, he’s a heavyweight striker the only reason he’s in the 3rd round at his weight & style is because he tried to get them out the 1st & 2nd & failed. @@isold3241No chance those fights are locks. Lewis is the favorite for a reason. He is the all time ko king and Nascimento is getting ko'd by Daukaus and going to split decision with Tanner Boser.
Menefield is a proven top 15 middleweight weight and almost all his wins are by finish. Ulberg looks good because he's beaten lower level opposition. When he did fight a dangerous fighter in Kennedy, he was ko'd.

He's not a pro kickboxer, he is a taekwondo practitioner and won bronze in the 2012 Olympics. He has next to no MMA experience, has fought absolute cans and smoked them in seconds so hasn't been tested at all, we don't even know what his chin or gas tank is like out of 1 round.
It's a brave pick to pick Waldo but I can also see him getting an upset, it's the first test for robelis, and say what you want about Waldo he is durable and has pretty sharp boxing which tends to be something taekwondo practitioners struggle against as they are kick heavy and don't throw punches that technically, he just swings and deletes people in 10 seconds.
Despaigne was a Taekwondo Olympian and Acosta was a pro boxer. How do you know what Despaignes cardio is like after the first round? He never beat anyone good either. Acosta is 4-1 in the UFC which is hard to do. He is also a former LFA champion. How are you so confident?
