    A couple of things:
    1. I don’t understand how this 360 camera works. The 360 panorama shot you included with your promo at 2:22 seems to have your normal front view from the chin bar when facing forward, but seems to somehow separate itself from the helmet when looking back at you riding. Like, how?
    And
    2. It might (emphasis on MIGHT) be a cool idea for one of your vids, or maybe even a single trail or trail portion from within one of your vids to have a side by side shot of what the camera sees while looking forward and a simultaneous backward looking shot at yourself to see how your body adjusts to the different trail features. Just a thought inspired by that 360 panaroma shot in #1 above.

    • @ddangerousddave
      @ddangerousddave  Před 8 měsíci

      1) The camera uses two wide angle lenses to capture footage in the front and back, then the algorithm 'stitches' the two images together seamlessly. Sometimes you get little glitches along the seam line, but in this case it worked flawlessly. 2) Not a bad idea! Maybe I'll give that a try.

      I checked the teeter from the bottom when I was pedaling up to make sure it was structurally sound so that wasn't blind. Otherwise I think I looked at all of them, except for that ladder bridge drop with the flat landing which nearly cost me. That was a very dumb move to be honest.

    • @daniel6678
      @daniel6678 Před 8 měsíci +3

      I think it’s probably more from the shaking and bouncing. Tires out your wrists and shoulders from all the shock absorption.

    • @nicks2716
      @nicks2716 Před 8 měsíci +1

      I took up mountain biking three years ago, and that was the biggest surprise: how tired your hands get absorbing the impacts (wee little impacts in my case)…. In fact I couldn’t even make it through a single trail at first, though it probably didn’t help that I’m sure I was gripping way too tight. Over time it becomes less of a thing as you get better, loosen the death grip and your body adjusts. But the way Dave rides for sustained stretches I’m sure the wrists and hands get good lactic acid build up.

    Hey @ddangerousddave I noticed that you have the Float X - For my enduro bike I've really been tossing up between the X and X2. But it seems to handle a E-bike on gnarly trails, do you feel like you have it dialled in? Because it seems like if so the X is a better option.

    • @ddangerousddave
      @ddangerousddave  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I'm not much of a suspension aficionado to be honest. The X2 works great when it works, and has more adjustment options, but the past few model years have been very unreliable. Both my X2 shocks for my Spartan had issues right out of the box. Fox's warranty has been good, but it's a pain to have to do it in the first place. The 2024 models are said to be better, but time will tell. The X has been ok on the ebike, but the extra weight of the ebike makes the suspension feel very supple off the top so it's not always a great comparison.

    • @mattfarrar5472
      @mattfarrar5472 Před 8 měsíci

      @@ddangerousddave Thanks mate, it's a tough choice - My Megatower 2 came with a select+ and it's pretty terrible!, no compression adjustments only rebound, there is no way to get it feeling nice on up and down. My 38 grip 2 I have HSC wide open, I was wondering if the extra weight and settings was worth it.

    How do you like the ebike? I rode one for the first time this Summer, and was impressed by the climbing, but found it very heavy on the descents. Do you notice the weight? Would you buy one over a regular MTB if it was your money?
    Thanks!

    • @ddangerousddave
      @ddangerousddave  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I love having an e-bike as my second bike. I generally use it when I'm tight for time, want to self-shuttle on solo rides or just want to explore more of an area than I would be able to on a regular bike. That being said, it's a bit of a quantity vs quality thing because of the weight. As you found out, they're not as playful and take a lot to move around. If I could only have one bike? Definitely a regular bike. For a second bike? Definitely an ebike.

    Do you ride clipped in Dave? I’m on the fence 🤔I’ve rode flats for years but it’s one of those rare times when my mtb shoes and pedals need replacing at the same time, really can’t decide

    • @ddangerousddave
      @ddangerousddave  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I ride flats on my MTBs and clips on my gravel/cyclocross bike. With clipless you get better pedaling efficiency, you're less likely to slip a pedal going through the rough stuff, and it frees up your body position/weight distribution/timing a little bit because the effort you normally put in to making sure your foot stays on the pedal can be used for other movements. That being said, I feel safer riding flats, especially when riding features or when I need to bail off the bike in an emergency, and flat pedal shoes are also just more comfortable.
