There was a guy who was local to me and went to all the car shows around and was he somehow got an ls1 into a Miata. One of the craziest builds I’ve ever seen, it had a lot of custom fabrication and it was an absolute death trap. The guy sold it cheap a few years before covid, I think it sold for 10-15k range.
there are ls swap kits for miatas so i dont think its very rare, but i think the kits are for ls3's or 5.3 idk
I was at a meet a couple nights ago and this dude got a 5.0 coyote into a Miata
Swapping an LS into Miata’s is somewhat common anymore. The fun thing is the engine can fit under the hood and make it look stock from the outside.
With the original Monster Miatas they typically used a 5.0 Ford which doesn’t typically fit under the hood without sticking out.

Honestly, for the miata, it's a good starting price. I would probably talk him down to 15, depending on how much the rest of the hardware costs. I have a 2000 miata with a hardtop, 60mm turbo, boosted to 17psi, forged rods and chrome-molly rings. I have the same fuel pump as this miata, but I have 1000cc injectors. I'm still using the same NB engine that came in the car. My car made 251whp on the dyno recently (a few mo ago). My paintwork isn't as clean, but not terrible (clear peeling in one spot). Not sure how much the wing, wheels, coilovers, and rear diffuser ran on this guy's build. That diffuser is real clean. I just got my hardtop resprayed and a harddog double-diagonal rollbar installed. I also just blew a head gasket, so I picked up a Vulcan head gasket by SCE and a set of ARP head studs from Summit. (I see this guy also has ARP studs, good choice). Gonna be repairing that in a week or two. I also have a set of 5 R-Theory hood vents installed that were powder-coated. 3 vent, 2 ram. I wonder what size tires he's running. I've been concerned about upping to 235s, despite riding on 15x9s. Presently, I'm running 225/45 R15s in the rear and 205/50 R15s in the front. I like the stretched look in the front.
If he has willwoods, or brembos on the car, that would add value. That mod is still on my build list.
Overall this guy has a real clean build. Either my car is worth more than I think, or this guy's build is overpriced. Not by much though. He's not asking $50k. The price is reasonable.
I love looking at other quality miata builds. It gives me ideas :D

to be fair the KMiata swap comps are 6k alone, not to mention the cost of an engine, the possibility of the engine being rebuilt, and all the other mods on that car. I'd say def worth close to the price listed. I'm also building a boosted Miata. The goal before building the engine was 300hp but now I'm looking closer to 400-500 which is actually insane. If there is one thing about Miatas, it COSTS to build one performance-wise.
@@raphuell @Connor Bryant I started pricing K swaps after making my comment. I completely changed my mind. $20k is a very fair price. The full K swap kits alone are $5k, add to that a $1500 tranny and another $1500 for an engine and you have $8k in just parts. Starting price would be around $16k for a clean base miata with a K swap. Add a $2k paint job, some aero, and some labor and you come to around $20k. I think we can all agree, its a very clean build.
@@raphuell 500hp is a ton of power for that car. I assume you're swapping the tranny for a BMW one and doing an AN fitting crankcase vent setup. You'll need it for all that boost. I also assume you'll be using the chevy coils, or something similar. I'm not sure what clutch setup you'll be using. The ACT stage 3 I bought (zm2-hdg6) only handles about 310ftlbs of torque. If you want big power, an LS swap might be a better way to go. Thats $10k though. You could also do a 5.0 swap for cheaper. Not sure how deep in the weeds you are with your build, or how much fab work you're planning.

That looks like a F block. That would also help explain the s2k dash. I know it says k24 but it looks like an f20. That would also be easier to drop in as an already RWD set up

@@lukeyarasheski5510 depends on the adapter you buy, I’m currently doing a rwd k swap and I’m using a cd009 350z trans but you can use an rx8 trans, a bmw zf or getrag trans or the t56 I believe
@@lukeyarasheski5510 but I’d say no not at all cost effective, you gotta get a bunch of adapters to make it rwd and a bunch of fabrication and I’m at like 7k rn and I still got parts to buy so unless you got almost 10k for a swap don’t do it
That Miata is in Canada. 28,000$ CAD is actually 15,000-18,000$ USD so really it's not too bad.

the miata making 240 at the wheels would smoke the k swap with presumably 240 at the crank, that's nearly a 50hp difference
I've honestly been thinking about buying a Miata and wait till I blow the original motor and K-swap it. After test driving a modern Miata I kinda fell in love with them and I'd like an older one
Id take that gamble for the white stang. It looks like he took care of it even if it was ran. Based off of mileage id take the blue Miata over the orange one. Porsche favorite hands down.
2004 Carrera C4S they're still affordable anything in that early for series with the runny egg headlights tend to be a little more affordable it's when you step up to the turbos that they do get a lot more expensive
Carrera has ims bearing issues if you're getting a 996 GT and turbo is the only way

the k series is probably one of the best engines ever made. of any manufacturer. even non honda guys, have to admit that its a damn good platform. heres my thouughts on buying 50k drag mustang. even if the car has a lil wear on it and needs parts, the second you u get those parts and go racing, you will break it again. its no different if you ubreak it or the previous owner broke it. if thats your car its on you. i bought my car with a blown engine for half price and rebuilt it for 4k and now its so clapped out and it was well worth it!

N/A is more responsive than the turbo Miata… yes but if it was another engine , this 240hp K series is high-reving engine that also doesn’t have much power in the lows and this turbo at 10psi will spool at about 2000rpm I guess ( It should make much good torque figures also ) and the N/A is 240 at the crank vs the 240hp at wheels for the turbo , so even if it’s slower and not so stable on the corners due to the less downforce and the suspension works , it will be faster on the straights and maybe will get even better time ( depends on the track ) It’s much cheaper built but considering the price is 3.5 times lower I’d get the turbo.
On the topic of an affordable Porsche - 986 Boxter … It’s the Porsche version of Miata and it’s also fun on the track. 996 Carreras are also kinda afordable and they’re cool and much mechanical cars. N/A 3.4 boxer engine , Manual gearbox and mechanical steering… I’m all into it

I looked into k swapping a Miata a whole kit is 6k without wiring engine and ecu so in total about 8-10k to do it
8-10k if you do modify the rsx harness yourself and do some diy work. 10-12k I would say if you buy everything from k power
And then depends on on which engine you get. K24z3 is their cheaper swap.
That’s why so many just go V8. Once you have to swap much of the drivetrain the cost is about the same for everything.
I like the idea of the GM aluminum V6 like what’s in the Camaros. Gives a good 300ish HP in a reasonably short and light package. Enough power to make it pretty fast without being way more than the chassis can handle.

That E30 BMW is a Lebanese car, it's fairly common to see them 2J swapped as these chassis make very popular drift cars in that particular area (Jordan/Lebanon/Syria) which seems to be the point behind this build
I may be wrong, but doesn’t the x in 325ix mean, that it’s all-wheel-drive? Although you can still drift in it, it’s still uncommon to use an awd car as a drifter
@SipSap505ssio correct, the E30 325ix was the first BMW model to have full time AWD afaik, but I don't think a detail such as that will stop someone that wants to build drift cars, especially as it's a fairly basic AWD system considering its age now

There is no way in hell that Honda needs those big Hoosier drag slicks on the front wheels. Unless it really is making 600 hp just from a boosted D-series but man that is so hard to believe. I would ask for dyno sheets from that guy if I was buying and if he doesn't have them/won't dyno it, I'd just walk at that point.
