  • Today we're discussing male facial attractiveness.
    Have you ever wondered exactly why David Gandy is so objectively good looking? Its possible to make a male face even more attractive using certain measurements of facial proportions.
    📖 More information: 📖
    Dermal fillers have become popular during recent years for their use in famous lip transformations (we're looking at you, Kylie!)
    More and more people are turning to the injectable for a bit of help looking lovelier, but still remain unaware that they can be utilised all over the face for a subtle, refreshed look.
    Today, I'm going to be putting a bit of filler in our models jaw.

      Roy Chefets for me it’s still definitely lots more women but I think that’s for a lot to do with the location of where I work rather than anything else. I’m away from the City of London and in a more residential area so I feel like for this they might go closer to work.

    You've literally taken his face from two different angles. This isn't an accurate before and after at all.
    His face is facing more upwards in the before which will not only distort the contours of his face and canthal tilt of the eye, but also weaken the jaw line.
    Please use accurate before and afters in future.

    Dude. Thank you for existing. Seriously, there is nothing more unfortunate than being on the side of misinformation and pre-conceived notions. Truly understanding individual treatments and their potential when guided by ratio parameters would help keep A LOT of patients from over-compensating when altering areas they’re insecure of. It’s human to dramatizes or maximize the objects of our insecurities in our minds, which in turn causes over-correcting.. and some cases are severe. So, from the many of us you’ve probably saved from ourselves, we thank you. :) Please keep it up.

      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety +2

      MITCHELL WIGGS GREAT question. There are a small number of hyaluronic acids without lignocaine yes. Preservatives not really, because they are cross linked with BDDE to give the lattice structure- otherwise they wouldn’t hold. Profhilo doesn’t have BDDE but that’s more for skin improvement and you wouldn’t be able to get structural improvement with it, it’s more to give you a glow.

    Love your videos, very informative 😄👍🏻 what are the benefits of using Radiesse in the jaw as a-pose to any other HA filler? Is it just because HA fillers are hydrophilic? I’m asking since I just got this done yesterday 😂

    • @DrSarahTonks
      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety +2

      You get more for your money- they lift more per ml in comparison with a HA and you get more in a syringe also- up to 1.5ml. Also sometimes you need the crispness of Radiesse especially in someone whose jawline needs to look really cut. Its good but the negatives are you can't dissolve it and there is more post procedure swelling, so I only use in areas Im happy will be safe. Hope yours looks good!

    • @DrSarahTonks
      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety

      Blobfish111 yep and actually that’s exactly the point, not to make someone look especially different to how they start out, we are just trying to enhance what they already have. I know the angles are different- this is one of the first videos ever made so we didn’t really have the angles correct. With all non surgical procedures in my optimism the difference should be slight- it’s not my aim to make someone look completely different.

    I know this is an older video, and this could be a tender inquiry subject; But would anyone here in the comments feel comfortable answering if they feel it is a strictly Western idea that straight brows are masculine? I ask this as a long-time fan of East Asian media (I'm going to use K-Pop for an example, for people who may be newer to East Asian media), and in the dominant pop cultures of East Asia, a straight brow is used on the majority of hyper-feminine teen idols, and by no means makes them look even minutely masculine. Thin and arched brows in East Asian cultures (as far as I've heard) are generally thought of as making one look older, or dated (as if you were still donning the 1990s brow), and I tend to side with this particular viewpoint. Stepping away from East Asian media, a Western example would be post-1990s runway fashion models. Their brows are generally full and straight. Not arched, and not plucked thin. And these women are, again, usually praised for their beauty and hyper-femininity. Not for their masculine appeal because of having a full straight brow (and yes, I do realize SOME runway models capitalize on things like androgeny, but certainly not all). Just a question! Not meant to insult anyone in any way. Just trying to understand where facial aesthetic experts are pulling this idea from.

    I don't think its to your advantage to give away too many of your secrets. Not only does it work, but your aesthetic ratio is a great marketing tool. It has just the right mystery about it that it sets you apart. If you have not done so, try to get coverage in some men's magazines like GQ. I used to be a patient of the notorious American dermatologist Frederic Brandt. Sadly he used too many fillers on his own face and looked a bit weird. He was lampooned on tv and killed himself. He had a practice packed with celebrities.

    • @DrSarahTonks
      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety

      Roy Chefets but they would have to be able to actually reproduce the injections too! These ratios are no secret, it’s all available in medical journals. The trick comes in applying to to different peoples faces! I guess it’s the same as hairdressers- lots of people know how to cut hair but there are only a few famous hairdressers!
      So sad what happened to Dr. Brandt. I never met him personally but I heard he was a very sweet and kind man. It must be really hard to have your appearance rather than your technical skill constantly judged like that and I guess everything just got on top of him.
      I do a bit of work with the press over here in the U.K., usually for women’s magazines actually but maybe one day GQ will come knocking!

    Hi I’m a man and I have a very strong nose. It’s kind of wonky as well. So I just wanted to ask. Would using this equation for the rest of my face help to detract from this feature. Or is surgery the only option? Ive experimented with Botox and fillers in the past but never really got the natural look I see in your demonstration. I’d be really interested to know your thoughts. Thanks.

      Harold Fields III oh man that’s a tough question!! I don’t know Drs in the States really for this! If you google golden ratio or phi ration or golden proportion then people who have it on their website in your area should pop up! It’s kind of expensive because we used an awful lot of filler- wish the angles were right so I could show you!

    Hi there Dr. Tonks, I am an injector in the states and wanted to know about the pen that you use to inject filler. First off, what are the benefits of using that type tool vs a regular needle and where could I purchase one if I decide to get one?

  • @Avian98X
    @Avian98X Před 6 lety +8

    I have no experience with this kinda stuff, but this filler won't last forever, right?
    Like let's say I would get this done and it would look good, then 5 or 10 years from then it would definitely not look like it did after the procedure right? Might even go bad if you leave it for years and years without getting it refilled, right?

    • @DrSarahTonks
      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety +18

      Avian98X great question. These products completely degrade in the skin so after 10 years you would be pretty much back to the pre procedure state. They need to be adjusted every year or so to maintain good results, but if someone has it done once and then never again it’s no big deal, the tissue just slowly goes back to how it was before. It’s a good comparison to to say it’s like semi permanent make up which lasts a while, but not at the “optimum” past a certain point. Hope that helps!

      Avian98X the fillers are wonderful and no known side effects. They are naturally absorbed by the body. Many fillers on the market now. So do your homework before jumping in. Some last longer and may seem more expensive upfront but are longer lasting and a better value.

      pumpertube that’s not backed by any evidence or studies done on HA fillers. I’ve had lips done and those initially only last 6 months because your lips move so much but it increases over time. Everywhere else in the face though can last a year easy.

  • @davepayneflip652

    Great info! My only criticism would be that if we're injecting filler to emulate soft tissue aesthetics the way we would want them to be or correct soft tissue issues then yes use a soft filler in the fat layer of the skin. But when it comes to injecting for the propose of altering bone structure then in my opinion it should always always go under the muscle so that the filler doesn't move with facial movement. And yes I know the argument of having to inject a lot more filler as my Doctor says otherwise you won't see it. In my opinion that's a small price to pay to get an amazingly undetectable natural and yet dramatic result. I hope the views in your videos take off soon because they are great! Also while on the topic of what makes a man more attractive... I always notice that men who are very attractive have a more forward growth of the maxilla. Can that be emulated with filler? Thanks!

    • @DrSarahTonks
      @DrSarahTonks  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you so much Dave! I am so glad you are enjoying the videos. Yes maxilla projection can be emulated with filler, and yes this treatment is suitable for both men and women who have lost some volume there. It does appear to be more attractive when the maxilla is balanced with the profile, have you heard of celphalometrics? This is the study of the hard and soft tissues of the skull and gives us an idea of where the “ideal” position of various hard and soft landmarks would be. I don’t always replace lost bone volume with an injection on top of the bone, depending on the anatomy but do sometimes because there might be anatomical reasons why that isn’t possible.

      Dr Sarah Tonks so you don’t inject under he muscle like certain doctors do with the Y lift procedure for example? I’ve heard from several sources, including you I believe, that injecting fillers around superficial areas are not good or optimal and this makes total sense. I would love some clarity on this, thanks

    I have nothing against anybody using dermal fillers but I really don't like the idea of how people's faces "should" look, like a human face should fit a precise mathematical formula and if it doesn't there's something wrong with it. I've run into this attitude a lot with other trans women, they've bought into this notion that they simply won't look like women until they've had elaborate plastic surgery. Of course there are facial features that are more common to women or more common to men, and if you're going for a particular look that stuff can be useful to know. But the phrase "conventional attractiveness" exists for a reason. Ideas of beauty are NOT universal, and people can be beautiful in all kinds of ways! If the guy in this video is looking like he wants to look that's great for him, but I think it's wrong to say he requires these procedures to make him "hot". Some people would say he was more attractive before, some would say he was more attractive after, and neither group would be objectively wrong. I'm not hating on Dr. Tonks, but I am objecting to the idea there is "objective" beauty and that anybody needs surgery to attain it.
